Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

So, I got a good IV spread for my Mesprit in Platinum from the links in Mingot's original post, and as I came here to re-check my monter frame I realized that Mesprit is a Method 1 Pokemon. Does this mean that, when I plug the Seed into RNG Reporter, I should leave the method as Method 1 to find the frame the spread is on? Or should I change it to method J just like all of the other Pokemon?

You should leave it on Method 1, Jawshua.

Exilic - It doesn't mean the frame you chose was wrong, it just means you didn't hit it. Maybe when you catch Giratina next time calculate his IVs and find out which frame he did come from to make adjustments.

My target frame was 28, but when i plugged the numbers in it said 33.
I would really appreciate it if someone could give me some examples on how i can make adjustments to hit the right frame.
...or, does it involve some rng advancing?

For hatching perfect eggs, in the second calibration phrase, where I take the egg as quickly as possible, catch a pokemon, check its ivs, plug it into the seed finder, and generate under Breeding (DPPT) to find out what frame I'm saved on, I've gotten 8, 5, 8, 5, and 6...pretty inconsistent so I don't really know what to put in the time finder...do I just put 5-8 as the range or is there something wrong, and I need to be constantly confirming the same frame?

I tried playing around with it, and I got

Seed: DD0B027B
Date: 2009/08/25
Time: 11:07:14
Frame: 8
Delay: 626

So now I'm not sure if I don't need to advance the frame AT ALL or what :(

I only got my perfect pokemon for Iv abuse today <3 so I might be able to help
On your 2nd calibration, you actually find out how much the people moving around the old man advance your frame. the faster you collect the egg. The lower the frame.
Now, if you hit frame 8 consistantly with taking the egg, leave it on frame 8. Also on what you posted, it means you need to set the Time: 11:06:00. Wait 1 minute, then soft reset, hoping you hit 14 secs with a delay of 626
If done correctly and hitting the ryt frame, you will get the pokemon you wanted with the spread you wanted

Mkay, so i just need to be clicking fast enough that i'm always hitting the same frame? i guess maybe there's some minor delay in my rapid A-pressing that's making the frame so odd. Or an NPC is mid-stride or something on the save. -_-

Hmm... I had that problem twice...
Dw, you'll get it eventually. I think it took me about 4 hours to get my flawless typloshion. Imo it takes ages to hit your delay as well as your frame. I was aiming for frame 5 (where pretty much nothing moves as soon as you cancel journal) hit 6. Couldn't believe I missed it by 1 =[.
After lots of tries I finally got it. I think it's down to perseverance and determination. You'll get that pokemon you wanted ^_^

How can one hit an odd-numbered frame? Every journal page anvances by two frames...

Having a single roaming pokemon (like Cresselia or Mesprit) adds one frame to the total.

EDIT: Taken fom the OP:

Finally the forumla to calculating the number of required RNG advances is:

RNG Advances = target frame - monster frame - Number of Wandering Pokémon

or you can do this :)

Walking in areas with no wild Pokémon -128 steps advance the RNG by a number equal to the number of Pokémon in your party. This step counter is stored when you save your game and does not revert to zero when you soft reset, so it is important that you walk exactly 128 step. Any more and it is possible that the RNG will advance again and throw off your calculations.

so basically you will want to have 1,3 or 5 pokemon in your party to advance the frame by 1,3 or 5

I think he's trying to hatch an egg with specific IVs and wondering how to get from odd frames to even ones when starting the game. I think I read that having a GBA cartridge (not sure if it has to be FR/LG) inserted switches the frame from odd to even and vice versa. You could also get lucky and have the NPCs moving around advance the frame by an odd number before you take the egg, but it would take a lot of time and luck.

Actually, I saved inside Snowpoint temple trying to catch a Sneasel with a Jolly Synch. If I'm inside the tempke with five Pokemon (indlucing a Sweet Scenter and my faithed Synchronizer), what should I do in orther to hit the odd-numbered frame (that's all Iv'e got that has exacly 900 delay and perfect IVs, in 2014 of course)?

This may be a dumb question but I don't think it was answered anywhere in the thread. I've checked the original post over too. Once I get my SID, what do I do with it in order to catch shiny pokemon? Is it's only use to be filled out in the SID section of the spread finder?

Edit: Do i have to search every year pretty much manually to find a good spread?

I'm not sure where to post this, but when selecting an ability, the ShinyFinder instructions mentioned that most analysis's and pokedex type things have them listed in the right order. I was breeding an electrode and used smogon's analysis, which listed static first, but when I bred it with ability 0 it was soundproof. So I checked the dex on the rng reported and 0 is soundproof, so the smogon analysis should be changed. Sorry if this is in the wrong place..

You should always go by the dex on RNG Reporter or the breeding article on this site. The same thing happened to me when I went to catch a Starmie. I used the analysis as a guide and ended up with Illuminate.

This is a question I've been putting off by just avoiding spots with random NPC but now it seems unavoidable. So here it is:

Will the NPC change advance the RNG based on time, or is it somehow related to what you do? Also, do the NPCs advance the RNG if you're looking at your journal?

They advance the RNG by moving or turning. and no they don't advance the RNG while you are in your journal.

Right, I guess my question was more "Do they move/turn based on time, or based on me"

Another question: How does a synchronizer shift the encounter slots?

It doesn't shift encounter slots, it just gives quite a few more spreads (all same) for each Actual Frame.
But with all those spreads, you ARE more likely to find the correct encounter slot you are hunting.

So, is it ever detrimental to carry a synchronizer?
