@ blasphemy: Bug catching contest is ONLY tuesday, thursday and saturday

HOWEVER, serebii says that all stones can be won in the contests. I assume that the 1st prize keeps changing, maybe its like Fire / Moon / Thunder, Water/Dawn/Sun and Leaf/Dusk/ Shiny for the stones, aka you win one of the three

May as well be so

speaking of which, does anyone else notice HOW HARD it is to win bug catching now?
In GSC you caught a Scyther / Pinsir and pretty much all you had to worry about was a high levelled Butterfree. In HGSS however, PARAS > Scyther/Pinsir, and level matters WAY more

I havent won a single one yet :(

^I personally like that, it adds to the level of challenge in the game. And with the pokeathlon having those prizes, there is really no need to be concerned about the rewards.

The Trainer House in Viridian City is so retarded now. Back in G/S/C you could use it to train your Pokemon and gain experience points. Now, it's like a crappy Battle Tower where all your Pokemon are reduced to Lv. 50 and you don't get any experience points. Is there a way to change the trainer you battle there like in G/S/C?

Oh, and has anyone tried to collect 5 Shining Leaves yet? I have a question about them. On Serebii it says: "You can only have one Shining Leaf on one Pokémon." But then later it says: "So, now you have a Shining Leaf, what do you do? The answer is simple. If you go see Kotone/Hibiki in New Bark Town, she will tell you about the Shining Leaves and state that she'd like to see you obtain 5 of them. Come back with 5 on one Pokémon, and she will reward you with a Star for your Trainer Card and convert the 5 leaves into a leaf crown for your Pokémon."

How does that work?

I was talking about the Pokethlon. You get a Moonstone(according to Serebii) on Wednesdays.

EDIT: Never mind, you can get one on Mondays, Serebii just has a terrible organisation system.

oh, sorry

Also, how do you get into the Safari Zone? I thought it was by beating Chuck, but even now I cant get in

I really want my Misdreavus :(
Bring the SecretPotion to Amphy in the Lighthouse.

And about the evolution stones in the Pokethlon building- when you say ALL of them, do you mean even the Shiny, Dusk, and Dawn Stones?

Yeah, Serebii slipped up on that and I believe he admitted that somewhere in the Disovery Discussion Thread somewhere and just hasn't gotten to changing it. You collect 5 Shining Leaves on one Pokemon, show it to Hibiki/Kotone, and you'll get the trainer card start and the Leaves on your Pokemon's status screen will become a crown.

So you can get more than 1 leaf on a pokemon. So what do you do? just walk into the right area's grassy area and just keep talking to your partner?

Yup; that's it. Of course, the exact rarity of getting one and if there are any limitations on this (like if you can only get so many leaves per day, or whatever) weren't known, the last time I checked.

I'm currently at Union cave, tanking with croconaw lvl 20. Pretty easy so far. Falkner was a cinch even with a level 14 totodile.

Just soloed Whitney with my Lvl. 20 Zubat using Wing Attack :D

By the way, I think Gamefreak really went out of their way to make the third gym easier: When you get to Goldenrod there's a guy in the Pokemart who gives you 5 Chople Berries. And you can buy Natural Gift as well. See where I'm going with this?

Also, I ran into a shiny Rattata on Route 29 before I had any Pokeballs :(

On the Pokemart Guy: That's the guy who gives you the stuff your Mom buys for you, if she's saving your money. She buys you different stuff, but one of the most common things she gets you is Berries. What kind she gives you is random, though, as far as I know.

Gah, the same thing has happened to me with a spinarak, albeit in crystal.

More on topic, It does look like they are trying to make the leaders' difficulty akin to their roles- hence, Janine as the youngest gym leader has unsuaully weak pokemon.

That's only true in the original G/S. Now, Janine's actually stronger than Koga, enough to be around a similar level to her Kanto peers. ... When the hell did Koga's daughter take such a level in badass like that?

how exactly do you get the enigma crystal?

and dies this mean that you can get both of the Lati twins in either game?

I'm still unsure whether i should get HG or SS so someone plz convince me

It's not known how you get the Enigma Crystal yet, though it will likely be in some sort of Wi-Fi event.

This game is seriously the best yet. I'm in love with my Jap HG version.

The gyms do seem a little too easy, and too close together. But the last gym is definitely the hardest. Scyther was a pain though.. earlier.

I've logged 36 hours in my game, and I'm currently SRing for a Shiny ExSpeed Dratini.

And yeah, Chinchou can be caught at Route 41(?) with a Good Rod, sadly.. it quickly took the place of Ampharos for me.

I hope this hasn't been asked already, but I really don't have time to read 46 pages...

Has anyone found if Magneton and Nosepass can evolve in HGSS? Or do you need to trade it to DPPt to level up in Mt. Coronet?
