Personally, I'd say Bellossom of all things outclasses Meganium these days in-game. It might not be quite as bulky, but it can learn Sleep Powder in its unevolved forms and Leaf Blade via Move Relearner, while Meganium is stuck with a choice between Razor Leaf, Magical Leaf, and Petal Dance for STAB damage until you reach Kanto. Meganium's poor STAB options are really disappointing nowadays, when other Grass types can get actual damaging moves.

Looking at other options, Vileplume and Victreebel can get Sleep Powder and STAB on Sludge Bomb at least, and Victreebel gets Leaf Blade eventually as well. Exeggutor gets Slee Powder and Leech Seed by level as an Exeggcute, and Wood Hammer at 37 or Seed Bomb by relearner if you dislike recoil.

Problem is, Typhlosion users will pick themselves up a red Gyarados/other water type, Feraligatr users already have a water type, and there is nothing notable in game that you need Grass > Water to warrant even bothering with any grass type(obviously, other than starting with Meganium).

So the IVs reset everytime you faint the legends? Does this mean I can save --> capture Raikou, then if I don't like its IVs, I can kill it and they reset? Or does this not work for roamers? Either way, I will be playing through multiple times to get both a Timid and Bold Suicune, along with the usual Bold Lugia, Adamant Ho-oh, etc.

Um, I'm not sure what you're trying to respond to here. All I was saying is that Meganium is indeed outclassed, and not even by something as fancy as a legendary or red Gyarados.

Also Grass > Water against enemy Water types, though there's certainly another type that'll substitute for Grass just fine there.

Basically, what I am saying is, there is no point of picking up a Bellossom if you started with Feraligatr or Typhlosion, so it really isn't outclassed in the sense that only fans of it will be using it. Generally, in HGSS, the most useful types are fire, dark/ghost, water, psychic, electric, and fighting/bug. I am not arguing that Bellossom doesn't outclass Meganium, but what I am arguing is nobody will use a grass type other than Meganium, because they are near worthless in this game.

It only works if you defeat the legendary (or is defeated by it, in the case of stationary ones like Lugia and Suicune). Capturing them obviously means they won't respawn, even if you release them later.

And I don't know what happens when you run from them, stationary or not.

Okay, well that is good to know.

Still no game. Has anyone else here pre-ordered from play-asia and got theirs already. I really don't imagine it should have taken this long.. I really want to talk about the game here too..

I've just beaten the first gym but the guy on Route 32 isn't letting me past. How do I get past? I've been everywhere I can.
After you beat the gym, you should get a call from the prof. then go to the pokecenter/mart, and a guy will talk to you.

Seriously, since you dont know japanese.. the best thing for you to do isnt just run around and think you know what to do. Talk to alost every single person, go into every building you come across.

I did that/doing that, and im just fine.

Thats what I do. But no-one gave me an item or anything. Also the Proffesor on the end of that route that gives you the Pokédex he gave me a mysterious egg I think it was called but it just dissapeared..

He isn't there. What is he wearing?
He should be right in front of the counter. I think he was wearing red, but I'm not sure. Make sure you have an empty slot in your party for the egg. If he's not there, and you can't get the egg by talking to anybody there... are you sure you actually beat Falkner? Make sure you didn't forget to save and actually have the badge. Other than that, I would say having made sure you beat the Sprout Tower and things like that, but you would have had to have done them to fight Falkner, so I'm at a loss.

Edit: Yes, that package that Mr. Pokemon gave you was for Professor Elm; you had to give it to him, which is why it's gone. Beyond that, all I can figure is that you somehow don't have Pokeballs yet, so go back to Professor Elm and try talking to him to get them and see what happens.

I saw a red man there but he isn't there now. and I still have the badge.

Edit:

I've got Pokéballs, I have 6 Pokémon in my party.

Thx, I'm at Radio Tower with Team Rocket now :)

I've got past that bit you have to go to the Pokemart and there'll be a guy in a red suit. THAT GUY DOES NOT GIVE YOU THE EGG. The nerd next to him does.

Anyone have any idea where you can buy Dive Balls and Repeat Balls? I've checked all the Marts on 3 consectutive days with no avail...

*Face palm at Person who ever even played Gen II*

Go to Goldenrod and team rocket has taken over.

Anyone have any idea where you can buy Dive Balls and Repeat Balls? I've checked all the Marts on 3 consectutive days with no avail...

Can anyone answer this Question? I have all 16 badges...

If you know Gen II like the back of your hand (Like me...) then you'll be fine. If you don't, your screwed and will have to use a Walkthrough thoughout the game. :/

Finally got my game. This is a bit harder than expected. Does anyone know of a text based walk through of the game online?

Really, like said before, just talk to everyone, for the most part the game plays exactly like the originals.

I was stuck after arriving in Goldenrod, you had to some question thingy at the Radio Station I used the old GSC guide, and the answers were exactly the same. The only real difference is unlike in GSC you have to do some of the side quests before going to the Gym.
