Yes, and Haunter answered it perfectly.

Spikes are 'entry hazards', and therefore only cause damage when a Pokemon enters the battle. If a Flying-type Pokemon enters the battle when Gravity is in play, then it will take damage from the Spikes. However, if a Flying-type Pokemon is already on the field and then Gravity is set up, it will not take damage from Spikes due to being 'pulled down'.

If I'm in a battle and my opponent and i are down to our last pokes and down to 1hp with sandstorm out and i die to toxic, will the game end in a win or will it be a draw due to sandstorm

On Shoddy the opposition will win, on Wi-Fi it will be a draw.

On Heart Gold/Soul Silver can all your Pokemon's Pokethlon stats be maxed out or can you only fill a certain amount of stars? I don't mean maxing out as in 5 stars in everything but filling all the possible stars a Pokemon can get.

Also on Heart Gold/Soul Silver when are Suicune's IVs determined, are they determined when he is released with Entei and Raikou or are they determined when you battle him?

Only have a partial answer for you.

The IV's are determined when you battle him, meaning you can soft reset for good IV's.

I need a good damage calculator that takes into account items, natures, ev´s, etc. but i can´t find a good one on the internet. Can anyone give me a link to the one you use?

This may seem like a stupid question but is the Metagame the same in Japan or does it even exist. As far as I know (which is not very far) Shoddy is used only outside Japan, and since the Shoddy metagme is different to wifi it would make sense that in Japan things are done differently. I don't even know if anyone in Japan plays competetively but I imagine they do!

IVs are numbers that affect the stats of your Pokemon. In the GBA and DS games, each stat has an IV between 0 and 31. At level 100, 1 IV equals 1 stat point; at lower levels the benefit is proportionately reduced.

To determine them, you use an IV calculator (google for some). They only work if your Pokemon has NEVER FOUGHT ANY BATTLES (since if it has it will have EVs, a hidden second type of experience, that also affect its stats).

You cannot change the IVs of a Pokemon. You can, however, get good IVs by breeding, or RNG manipulation.

If you want to offer a Pokemon for trade or giveaway, it should probably have near-maximum IVs in most stats in most cases. It's also recommended you use high-IV'd Pokemon for battling - if you don't, you're essentially using Pokemon that are weaker than they could be.

There was a thread about this somewhere. If I remember correctly, Japanese players have their own set of very interesting rules. I'm having trouble finding the thread though =/. A few of the rules that I think I remember are: only one legend on your team (iirc legend includes ttar, garchomp, etc), (most of?) what we consider Uber is banned, curse snorlax and Hippowdon are banned, and there were a few others.

They must have a very interesting metagame, quite different to our own, to say the least.

Okay thanks, but in my scenario, how could it work? I'm breeding many Shroomishes in hopes of getting a male, Adamant, Poison Heal Shroomish. Now that I figured out how to get a few of those, at level 1, can I tell which ones have good or bad IVs?

You do know that an Everstone held by Ditto (or the female parent if you are not using Ditto) will result in a 50% chance of the nature being passed on, right? So if you get yourself an Adamant Ditto, give it an everstone, and breed it with any Shroomish or Breloom, you'll really boost your odds of getting the nature you want on the baby.

To determine the IVs, you'll need some rare candies. (You can reset after you've done the calculation, so you don't waste them) There's some info here:
http://www.smogon.com/ingame/guides/breeding_guide_part1#two

and a good IV calculator for low-levelled Pokemon is metalkids, http://www.metalkid.info/Pokemon/Calculators/IV.aspx
it lets you enter the stats for more than one level, improving precision, and can also use the characteristic and the hidden power type. (To figure out your hidden power type, speak to a guy in the prize exchange in Veilstone, or attack a kecleon)

I did remember that Everstone trick, and it does come in handy. But ahh that does make sense, thanks for all the help.

Swampert, Metagross, Heatran...pretty much any pokemon that can take hits (either through high defensive stats, resistances, or a combination of the two) and dish them back reasonably hard as well.

Wow. Could someone elaborate on this? Like do they have a sleep clause as well? Interesting that curse Snorlax and Hippowdon are banned. They seem rather easily counterable on this side of the Pacific.

In todays edition of 'Spying on the Japanese!' We take a look at a bad google translation of a pokemon theory website.

I can't find their metagame rules, but I'm sure they're on there... somewhere.

copy the original Japanese into the bulbapedia search bar to get the real translations of the pokemon, moves, ect.
