Yeah, these are two totally different styles of play. I am also interested in and wondering about regional differences in the VGC 2010 metagame. For example last year, in the 2009 VGC it appeared that most American players used Trick Room or anti Trick Room teams whereas the Japanese players used Pokemon with good synergy (Goodstuffs) or Rain Dance. In Europe there was a mixture of both styles because both had proven to be somehow successful.
lol, i surely miss him. but i dont know what happened to him, anyone?Which is the right thing to do, no one except Smogon cares for a metagame they created themselves...
I know from Micuat, with whose name some of you should be acquainted, that the best Japanese players use closed communities for their discussion. That's basically the same as we do here :D
who dat? lol, no really who is he?It looks like Nick McCord has been asked to come back to MC for the VGC events in 2010 guys!

3.....2......1.....BATTLE!!
That's awesome, he's such a great announcer. Hopefully he accepts, the VGC trail wouldn't be the same without him imo.

That better not be who I think It is... the "butthole" from Arizona...
Speaking of old faces, do you think Marriland will return as the referee? He was pretty nice at Nashville, and his picture pose was fairly epic.
I think Chaos should be a Referee in the tournaments. But that will never happen *sob*
He was pretty cool, and he'll probably be back since he's probably the most "well-known" battler. I'm hoping he'll be back.Speaking of old faces, do you think Marriland will return as the referee? He was pretty nice at Nashville, and his picture pose was fairly epic.
You find the dates/infos at pokemon.com right?
I saw last years UK videos. Sadma won. Both of the finalist looked like 13-14 o.o
WHUT?! No way! I know I'm a poor judge of age, but I was sure Sadman was like 20+!? Could have been that he just appeared very mature...At the time Shoe was 15 and Sadman 17 lol. Shoe is small though I guess.
Sadma looked like in his teens for sure - but the other kid looked young, like he could be in the juniors.
I wonder how well they did in the US
and I really hope Nick is back! That dude was a blast! Although that lady was... a lil... creepy to me... >_>
I liked her passion as a female MC. It also creates a good partner for nick while onstage IMO.
Plus, she has done a bunch of other pokemon announcements and stuff for things like PRA back in 2005 and 2006, so she is a pokemon announcement veteran. :p
Are those 2 registered smogon users?Shoe 18th, Sadman 21st and they had a lot of fun lol. Not sure about Sadman's battles but Shoe was in 5th place at the start of the third round, and got screwed out of a win against Tasuko Mano by a having both pokémon fully paralysed for 2 turns in a row after Mano's Zapdos used discharge. Could've played out very differently had that not happened, but it did so yeah.
And also yeah those ages are 100% correct. I've been friends with Shoe for years, and I asked Sadman himself a few months ago.
I always chill in my WiFi battles, where as in person I am way too nervous =P.
