that's awesome
yeah i actually like the meta in japan, the meta of vgc rules is probably the most popular meta and atm and its quite different from the meta of smogon
a lot of "ubers" but i love how the meta is much faster than the one here

Yeah, these are two totally different styles of play. I am also interested in and wondering about regional differences in the VGC 2010 metagame. For example last year, in the 2009 VGC it appeared that most American players used Trick Room or anti Trick Room teams whereas the Japanese players used Pokemon with good synergy (Goodstuffs) or Rain Dance. In Europe there was a mixture of both styles because both had proven to be somehow successful.

I'm trying to find a good lead with Abom at moment, currently i'm breeding a Weavile, Ambipom, and Infernape try with it various fake outs but not sure till i try it if fake out is the best way to go.

I'll have to get PBR set up over next few days so i can test more easily.

Ah I see.
I've also seen some people build weather-abusing teams without kyogre or groudon (or the two other lesser weather pokemons haha) and just use their opponents' kyogre or groudon for the weather. I've tried this but only failed so far lol.

Which is the right thing to do, no one except Smogon cares for a metagame they created themselves...

I know from Micuat, with whose name some of you should be acquainted, that the best Japanese players use closed communities for their discussion. That's basically the same as we do here :D
lol, i surely miss him. but i dont know what happened to him, anyone?

i have to say if it wasnt for micuat we wouldnt have been as well prepared as we were at VGC 09.

It looks like Nick McCord has been asked to come back to MC for the VGC events in 2010 guys!

You find the dates/infos at pokemon.com right?

I saw last years UK videos. Sadma won. Both of the finalist looked like 13-14 o.o

3.....2......1.....BATTLE!!

That's awesome, he's such a great announcer. Hopefully he accepts, the VGC trail wouldn't be the same without him imo.

Ahhh nick...he is a bit...(trying not to be rude)...Animated. Yeah, animated is a good word. He is very passionate about what he does. Although, he does need to learn how to dance :-P

Speaking of old faces, do you think Marriland will return as the referee? He was pretty nice at Nashville, and his picture pose was fairly epic.

He was pretty cool, and he'll probably be back since he's probably the most "well-known" battler. I'm hoping he'll be back.

And was a pretty decent announcer at the last events (atleast from what I remember at Philly).

Sadma looked like in his teens for sure - but the other kid looked young, like he could be in the juniors.

I wonder how well they did in the US

At the time Shoe was 15 and Sadman 17 lol. Shoe is small though I guess.
WHUT?! No way! I know I'm a poor judge of age, but I was sure Sadman was like 20+!? Could have been that he just appeared very mature...

[edit]
Akiratron-Sadman said that his stupid smeargle's DV missed like 5/8 times or something rediculous like that at Worlds! xD

and I really hope Nick is back! That dude was a blast! Although that lady was... a lil... creepy to me... >_>

Shoe 18th, Sadman 21st and they had a lot of fun lol. Not sure about Sadman's battles but Shoe was in 5th place at the start of the third round, and got screwed out of a win against Tasuko Mano by a having both pokémon fully paralysed for 2 turns in a row after Mano's Zapdos used discharge. Could've played out very differently had that not happened, but it did so yeah.

And also yeah those ages are 100% correct. I've been friends with Shoe for years, and I asked Sadman himself a few months ago.

I liked her passion as a female MC. It also creates a good partner for nick while onstage IMO.

Plus, she has done a bunch of other pokemon announcements and stuff for things like PRA back in 2005 and 2006, so she is a pokemon announcement veteran. :p

Actually, i do believe that Dave Schwimmer is a Pokemon Announcement veteran :-P He has been doing it at every national and world championship since 2004

For those of you who do not know who your Pokemon Organized Play Team is, this is Dave Schwimmer:

Are those 2 registered smogon users?

I would like to get in touch with UK/London VGC players before the next championship.

Its a whole different situation when you have wifi battle to battling someone in person.

I always chill in my WiFi battles, where as in person I am way too nervous =P.

That's pretty inverted for me, since I'm naturally excited and hyper when battling, which in general... People get nervous when they see how cheery I am and... Think I'm creepy. But that's beside the point...
