So, what's everyone planning on running this year?

Last year was completely and totally overrun by Trick Room, but with Kyogre legal I expect lots of Rain teams to pop up.

I only faced 1 TR team at Nats and saw one at Worlds 09 (Sadman). The TR team swept me at Nats (cuz I wasn't prepared at the time), and Sadman's did (unfortunately) very, very poorly.

I honestly expect to see a crap ton of Groudon/Lugia (or Mewtwo) combos, in all actuality though, because Soul Silver seems to be the more popular version (who wants a crappy "rainbow turkey" when you can have a SWEET DRAGON BIRD THING!!)

I'm running a Sunny day team with groudon, I just hope my oponent's kyogre does not run a -speed nature, because i have admant 0 speed groudon

Tbh almost all Weather pokes will be -spd natured/0 spd IV/Iron Ball, The only non-one Ive seen was a scarf Kyogre. and it failed in an Epic way because its foe's groudon got its sun up by beong slower (obv)

I'm running a goodstuffs team with rayquaza and some exploders. I've noticed that if your opponet can't resd your explosion you win. Anyone have a good Ho-oh set?

You get both, the significant exclusive pokemon are Groudon/Latias for SS and Kyogre/Latias for HG.

I haven't put a ton of thought into it, but something like:

Ho-Oh @ ?
Hasty 252 Spd/ I would have to run calcs for attacking EVs
-Brave Bird
-Sacred Fire/Overheat
-Thunder/Earthquake/Earth Power
-Protect

TR, especially with a dialga on a team, is extremely popular in vgc 2010 now
but yeah TR before wasnt too useful in my honest opinion. As for Groudon+Lugia combo...I personally never really saw one when I was in japan and korea for the last 6 months in the local tournies i went to. Oh and I actually like the rainbow turkey since i grew up with the four guardians of west, east, north, and south and always loved the phoenix the most :D

Explode can be inredibly deadly and can be a single factor to just turn the table around...or better yet, just end the game. A good ho-oh set would be...hmmm if you aren't running a tr team (or anti-) then I'd personally use hmmm (sorry never saw too many ho-oh's)

Ho-oh @ Life Orb, Resistive Berries (preferably...Passho, Charti)
Nature: Adamant
EV's: 6 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe (You could go bulky with or without adamant)
~ Sacred Fire
~ Brave Bird
~ Earthquake
~ Protect

Its weird because I have seen alot of Ho-oh's with roost for some reason. And its Ho-oh faster then dialga and all those other 90speed ubers? If he is then he could stop some trickrooms with an earthquake. I'm trying to make a nice snorlax with selfdestruct to stop trickroom. Is it just smart to make a kyogre lead, I can't beat it.

the easiet team is the rain dance team imo as you just use kyogre+palkia combo with additional two others. but three are other options lol.

as for roosting ho-oh...i personally hate using recovery moves in the doubles...I just don't think they are worth a while at all. I've never really seen roosting ho-oh...but if you'd like you could try...but then I'd go bulky and not the "sweeper" setup. And...Ho-Oh has the same speed as dialga :/

The Spanish Inquisition.

It seems like it's a war of Rain vs. Rain Counters vs. Rain Counter Counters vs. Other Weather Teams...
Trick Room will probably still be in use what with Dialga lurking around.

getting to regionals is going to be easy i really dont think its that big of a deal seeing there will be alot of noob's so getting through shouldnt be that hard. but even so im not going with a random team. im going with a Dialga / Smeargle combo backing me up with Kyogre and Tyranitar. im not going for first but only to qualify so i can go to regionals.

Yes, yes, lots of Rain... But I don't think Trick Room will be popular at all this year due to Ubers largely missing out on the best of the effect and being able to murder Dusclops with the right sets.

Eh, I think you mean Dusknoir not Dusclops. I think that both TR and Rain Dance will be popular, but the dominating one isn't quite so sure..It just depends on the player(s) using it.

TR rain is actually quite popular lol. They go well together.
Trick Room Rain? Now that's certainly odd, especially since one of Rain's best points is Swift Swim. I don't think that would work well with Kyogre since Dusknoir would be unprotected. Of course that would leave the opponent vulnerable to Kyogre's Water Spout, but taking advantage of the turn it takes to set up the Trick Room, and opponent could weaken Kyogre enough that it can't really do anything, and then the whole team misses out on what could have been its best pokemon.

Kyogre isn't a lead in TR Rain in general and Dusknoir isn't really used with '10 rules. If it does lead it generally got Protect over Calm Mind.

I used a team like that for a few days.

My leads were Brave Metagross & Quiet Dialga - 67 speed on Meta and 85 on Dialga. In the back, I had a Quiet Kyogre and an Azumarill from mattj (I think it has 49 Speed)

Whatever people are using, this VGC is going to be a wreck. It's a giant game of rock-paper-scissors if you ask me. Dusknoir doesn't look like he'll be very popular, but what about Smeargle? It looks to me like people are ditching Smiggy for pokemon that contribute more to the team.

Sash Smeargle is little more than a minor annoyance. Scarf Void Smeargle, on the other hand, is a HUGE pain in the ass, unless you have your own faster Scarfer (like Kyogre.) However, I'm not really a fan of Choice items in the VGC, especially this year. With Dialga and Palkia running around and resisting practically everything, being locked into Water Spout is a VERY bad idea.

hey i still have a Metagross thats pretty good if people still want it? i hatched it last year and EV trained it its currently at level 50 but due to bad judgement i deleted Meteor Mash but thanks to HG/SS Auto down level metagross is usable again. also it has Explosion.

Metagross
brave
25/31/31/31/31/1

dont know if will help out some people or not?

I have a Scarf Smeargle that has all the moves but I never got around to actually training it because of how much of a pain in the ass it would be.

Scarf Kyogre's Water Spout was going to be a huge strategy for me, but now I'm going to blaze through several versions of my team. I want to pair it up with Latios to take care of opposing Dragons like that, but I also need to use Floatzel as a lead to Taunt Trick Roomers. The problem with this year's VGC is that there are too many virtually auto-winning tactics and there's no way to counter them all at once effectively, which is why I'm calling it an RPS format.
