What are the best pokemon in HG SS to fight for basic ev training?

These are the ones I've been using:

HP EVs: Surfing in the pond in the Ruins of Alph will give only Wooper and Quagsire with 1 and 2 HP EVs around levels 14-20
Attack EVs: Surfing on Route 42 will yield only Goldeen and Seaking, each with 1 and 2 Attack EVs.
Defense EVs: In Union Cave, there are lots of Geodude and Sandshrew, along with the occasional Onix for Def EVs. Also, Hiker Kenny of Route 13 can be challenged as many times on Saturday between 10:00 AM and 8 PM as you want. His final team yields 9 Def. EVs (Sandslash, Graveler, Golem, Steelix).
Special Attack EVs: Route 43 has lots of Flaafy, Girafarig, and Mareep that yield Special Attack EVs. Only distractions most of the time are Pidgeotto with 2 Speed EVs and Venonat and Noctowl in the morning and night with 1 Sp. Def and 2 HP.
Special Defense EVs: Surfing on most sea routes will yield Tentacool and Tentacruel for 1 and 2 Special Defense EVs, such as on Route 27.
Speed EVs: Surfing on the Lake of Rage yields tons of Magikarp for 1 Speed and the occasional Gyarados for 2 Attack. There is also yet another Fisherman with 6 Magikarp in Kanto on Route 12, but you have to rematch him a few times. He can be challenged as many times as you want on Thursdays from 10 AM to 8 PM.

Btw.. I mean as an attacker.. not a wall. Physical Attacker, or Special one.

It has great moves on the physical side.. but special just seems like it would be good to use, Petal Dance, Energy Ball, etc.

You can use the starter. But expect to SR many THOUSANDS of times to get a shiny starter, unless you are lucky or are actually Trainer ID manipulating.
To my knowledge, you can't do it for the Red Gyarados. At best, it will act like a chained shiny - and only one such shiny doesn't determine your SID.

I'd make it mixed since its best two attacks are Petal Dance and Body Slam. Truthfully, I never really worry about these things unless one of my Pokemon ends up with a grossly higher stat. If you really want to choose, Physical might be your best bet since you still have Razor Leaf and you can teach it Seed Bomb when you get to the Battle Frontier. Don't get your hopes up for Enegy Ball, Grass Knot, and Giga Drain because you can't get them until after the Pokemon League.

yeah, its stats are pretty much identical. Thanks.. I'll go for a + Atk nature, and make it mixed.

I'd give it a less Spd nature since Meganium isn't particulary fast, or a less Def nature, since in-game pogeys are not particularly fast as well.

Nobody has answered this question yet:
If I change a pokemon nickname through AR, will that screw the pokemon data making it "hacked". If I change a pokemon nick through AR will it be usable on PBR WiFi? Will it be considered hacked on a hack test?

Oops, just saw this thread.

I have a DS lite. I used to use my brother's AR (for the original DS). But it appears to be broken. I used it to make pokesavs. So I went out today and bought the DSi AR. I haven't opened it yet. I wasn't sure if it would work with my DS lite. And I've heard that it breaks games or something.

Can I use it with my DS lite?

I think as long as you don't create the Pokemon with a cheating device or give it illegal moves/abilities/etc. it'll pass a hack check. As long as you don't give a Pokemon illegal moves/abilities/etc. it'll work on PBR. Last time I checked, giving Pokemon illegal move combinations (like Hypnosis/Nasty Plot Crobat) allows them to work on PBR.

To my knowledge, unofficial devices (ie ARs, flash cards) for the DSi will work with the older DSes - but unofficial devices for the DS original and Lite don't work on the DSi.

As for 'breaking games' - well an improperly used or malicious device could ruin your save, but I think the DS game is stored on a true ROM chip, meaning it can't be affected. Unless the device includes a battery or something to deliberately over-voltage the DS cart - but why would anyone make such a device?

Can you confirm what DDRMaster posted, cantab or someone else?

Can someone else confirm this? I'm just a little hesitant to open this thing after the first store I checked didn't carry them after reports of them breaking games, and reading this:

""This product was horible. It breaks your games. When I take out the action reaply and put the game in WITHOUT Action replay and this is what happens, screens on my DSi go white. And when I put the game back into the action replay and turn my DSi on, the action replay broke. I currently have an acekard 2i, it is way better it also has a built-in action replay and I had no problems with the codes. And if the acekard 2i bricks any of the games, you can just re copy the game and there it's fixed. I wish I never have bought this product."

As long as the shit it has (stats/moves/natures/abilities etc) are legal, the pokemon is legal.

This has probably been asked a million times, but is it possible to use Rotom formes on wifi in HG/SS?

Where do you go to set up a WiFi connection for Hg/SS?
I couldn't find it in the main DS menu :/

There should be something for Wi-Fi connection on the menu of HG/SS, where it says Continue and New Game and Mystery Gift, etc.

A rather simple question, but is it possible to trade Pokemon with an HM move, or do I have to delete it first?

It's entirely possible. It's only restricted when Pal Parking.

No, Rotom Forms can't be used on Wi-Fi.

Well, I can use a hacked pokemon on Wi-Fi, but it'll fail a hack test.

That's my question. I'd like to buy an AR to rename some pogeys, but I want them to keep 100% legit in the process. As if they were simply cloned. Will that happen?

Yes, you can.
Oh, okay. I was thinking otherwise because of Pal Park, but it makes the transferring of my Starmie easier.

EDIT: I can't seem to get to wifi in my Soul Silver version. I do not know the cause of the problem because the dialog is in Japanese (playing on a translated ROM).

-Is it legal to sav Cherish Balls to put a legit Scizor in?
-If I opt to use Abomasnow in Ubers, should I still use Ice Beam and Thunder>Blizzard and Thunderbolt? The prevelance of Kyogre would make Blizzard on all Pokemon a problem if Abomasnow faints, not to mention Id'e want to give a try to double-weather with a Kyogre of my own...

Scizor in Cherish Ball is probably not legit, unless it matches a Scizor you could have got at an event. (Have there been any?). Scizor in Cherish Ball with an egg move is DEFINITELY not legit.
