Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

I caught a lv 51 golbat and typed in its info into the seed finder. When I clicked find it said "No reasonable initial seed found. Please check your DATE and TIME."
Why? I know the date and time is correct. Whats the problem?
did you catch it immediately or did you run into a few other pokemon until you found it, if you wait too long then the RNG would have advanced too many frames and seed finder can't determine your initial seed.

According to this post, I would say you cannot change/control it, and that it will always be like this on the frame you want on this seed.

I saw in the DPPt information that the monster frame for fishing is 4 though, and I read from you that after some tests you've found out it was 3, maybe try to fish on frame 988, and see what happens ? It might be 4 after all, and you've got nothing to lose considering frame 989 gives you "not even a nibble" message..
Ahh... Thank you. At least now I won't try and keep doing it pointlessly, and I can check to see if it'll work beforehand.

Anyway, I know that that other post said it was 4, but it was for DPPt. I've done a few more tests, and every single time (except when it was 'not even a nibble') it has advanced by 3.

Anywayhoo, I got a second frame for my spread, so maybe it'll work on that one, and I found another good spread with two different frames, so perhaps that one will work.

EDIT: Thanks again! I just caught my shiny Staryu :)

EDIT2: For sweet scenting in caves/grass, in that link in the quote, do I use encounters in caves/grass or encounters while surfing/sweet scenting in water? (I'd guess encounters in caves/grass, but I wanna make sure...)

What for ?
In the link in the quote, for grass/cave and surfing/sweet scent in water it's just the long way to get what the "calculate encounter slot" button in RNGReporter gets for you

And if you surf/sweet scent in water in a cave, you take the surf/water values

Gratz on your staryu btw

How to hatch Perfect Poke Question

When Soft Reseting to accurately use the informatiuon from the time finder Does one need to hit the delay (e.g. 599) specified. In other words can it be off by 001 or it has to be exact in order to get the IVs wanted on the egg?

exactly 599 not 598 or 597 you must be precise.

@Xileh: ...oh right. sweet scent always works. nvm.

@chrizekiel: You need to hit the delay perfectly. (However, PikaTimer does make it much easier.) Also, your delays will usually always be even or always be odd (meaning it would be off by 2, not 1). If you keep hitting odds and want to hit evens or vice versa, if you are using an original DS, inserting a GBA pokemon game (if you don't have one inserted) or removing a GBA pokemon game (if you have it inserted) will usually change it. (At least it did in Platinum for me...)

@nobody in particular
Hmm... I'm thinking of writing a step-by-step guide for RNGing a wild/gift/event pokemon in HG/SS, since I think I have it down now... It would make it a bit easier than having to go through the DPPt guide and then referencing the HG/SS additions and stuff. I'd also put in stuff about figuring out the initial frame if you're not sure, which I'm not sure is in a guide around here... (And if it is in a guide around here, I probably learned how to do it from that guide and then forgot about reading the guide since there are just so many and it's hard to keep track of them, and I'd like to apologize for forgetting your guide :3)

Wow thanks a lot I did not realize that. I will try to see what delay it landson and then try my Ruby.

I've seen some people with third gen shiny breeds. Is there a way to manipulate the RNG to produce shiny eggs in Emerald or did they go through the horrible process of having millions of saves?

most likely the painful millions of saves method, there is some info about a way to do it using spinda PIDs but as of yet no one has taken the time to look and translate it since the articles are in japanese, the info is in the last post of the RNG research thread if you want to have a look.

In the RNG Reporter time finder, when selecting IV's, what are E, O, HP, HP_E, and HP_O?

E = Even
O = Odd
HP = Perfect Hidden Power numbers. Searches numbers that are 2 or 3 more than a multiple of 4.
HP_E = Perfect even Hidden Power numbers. Searches numbers that are 2 more than a multiple of 4. (2, 6, 10, 14, 18, 22, 26, 30)
HP_O = Perfect odd Hidden Power numbers. Searches numbers that are 3 more than a multiple of 4. (3, 7, 11, 15, 19, 23, 27, 31)

RNG abuse started in Emerald.

Yes, I'm aware of that. If you take a close look at my thread you'll see several Emerald breeds and catches. What I was asking about was if they found a way to get bred pokés to be shiny, because that part wasn't cracked last time I checked. But it seems that next post I'm quoting has shed some news about the Japanese having figured it out.

Thanks, I figured that was the case.

What's the quickest way to advance my frame to 96 for a Kyogre in HeartGold?

Use the pokégear's radio. Press the bottom-right button and down on the D-pad. Each time you press the button, it will tune in that station, and thus, it will advance the frame by 1. Detuning it with down with down won't advance it, but that's great if you need an odd frame.

I know it's tedious, but it's the best way to advancing the RNG because of its precision.

Ive been constantly failing while trying to rng and I cant use pikatimer for some reason. Every time I try to open it I get this message. "Could not find the main class. Program will exit." Is the pikatimer necessary? Couldnt I use another clock with seconds? And when I calibrate does the pokemon I catch have to be at least lv 50? The last couple of times I tried calibrating I got a message saying " Couldnt find reasonable seed" or something like that. What am I doing wrong?

You probably don't have the latest version of Java. You can download it at java.com. As for RNG Reporter's Seed Finder, I'm not sure if it absolutely MUST be at level 50 or higher or if it's just highly recommended, but I've tried it a few times with Pokémon in the 40s and have gotten the error each time. I occasionally get the error even with Pokémon above level 50 when I'm 100% positive I have the information correct, but when I calculate the exact IVs of the Pokémon, it always works.

I have never used Pikatimer and I have at least a whole box of RNG'd Pokemon. I would download the latest version of Java, in any case.

Like Eferma said Pikatimer isnt really "necessary" but it is helpfull for Seeds with high frames so you can get them on higher delays (and some seeds only appear on high Delays)
And for the no reasonable seed either you took to long to catch a Pokemon and the frame advanced to much or you took to long to get into the game, and yes the Pokemon has to be at a high level like that (shouldnt be a problem just have a level 50 in your party use a repel save in the survival area grass and run around untill you meet a level 50 pokemon).

so im using the pika timer while RNG for ivs for eggs
i input all the data and start at the same time, but when i hit a on the continue screen, the timing is off =/

what problems could it be?

Are you listening to Pikatimer rather than looking at it? See my noob guides for details on this, but it's better to listen.

Also, I have experienced RNG projects where the delays swing back and forth without reason, but then the next project, the delays are back to normal. Expect weirdness and glitches in anything electronic, and try again the next day to see if everything is better or try another seed instead. But first, try listening to Pikatimer rather than looking at it, if you're not doing that already.

Im confused with this part now, from Chamommy's newb guide
"Turn on the DS and change the calendar date to match your seed time. Then change your DS clock to one minute (minus your seconds) before your seed time. So if your seed time is 13:19:15, you set the DS clock to 13:18 exactly. Look at your external clock (which must have an accurate second hand -- or go see more about Pikatimer at the bottom of this section). Wait for a convenient time you won’t forget, like when it hits 00:00 at the top of the clock, and hit A on your DS. This lets your DS time get set. Now you have one minute to enter the game environment again—back in front of the Daycare Lady."

so Im supposed to enter the game world exactly 1 minute later?
my target time is 9:47:14, i set my ds clock to 9:46. whats next?
this part is a little hazy in the guide
