Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

when rnging for a shiny egg in hg when i call elm to check if i hit my delay how many frames does it advance? and say i call him 9 times and it says im right on the delay, how do i advance the frame to 3? ive tried just calling joey, after 9 elm calls and before i store the parents, and the egg wasnt shiny.

I've been RNG'ing a Jirachi wondercard and the nature has always come out the same, even though i thought it's supposed to be random. It's come out Lonely 3 times in a row. Do i have to hit another seed to get a different nature? Or am i really unlucky?

EDIT: On a side note is it possible to RNG abuse for shiny events?

The nature for Wondercard Pokemon is random, you just happened to get the same one three times in a row. As for your other question, it cannot be a shiny unless the event is a shiny. The Jirachi is set at being normal.

If your egg is on frame 3, just accept/reject the first two eggs that the day care man presents to you. The first egg is on frame 1, the second is on 2, and the third (the one you want) should be on frame 3. Elm calls don't affect the shinyness rng, that's for the IVs.

Jirachi is random, you're just unlucky unfortunately. And no, events can't be shiny unless they're set that way, with the exception of the Manaphy egg trick.

I have a specific question about de-tuning the radio to advance the RNG in HGSS which wasn't really elaborated upon in the OP.

Sometimes, when going for the higher frames, I slip up dragging the tuner back to the center, and I land on the unclear station in between instead of the dead air in the middle. Exactly what transition advances the RNG? Is it only tuning from the clear station to dead air? Does it work the same way from clear to unclear? What about unclear to dead air?

I'm just trying to find a way to do this without going up to 299 detunes and then screwing up, thus becoming confused and infuriated. If there's a way to just tap up and down on the d-pad to switch between stations that works that would be great.

Any tips?
Help please?

Thanks for the helps.

@ Tytus I use this trick that Pehu mentioned where you hold down 'down' on the d-pad while tapping the radio station so it de-tunes automatically after every time you tune into the station. With this method you don't risk getting dead air and it's much faster :)

It means you have a roamer out. For each roamer you have out, a frame is skipped. So if you have three roamers out, the first three frames - and Elm responses - are skipped.

Okay, so I hit a delay with the following Elm Responses:

(K, K, K Skipped) P, K, K, P, K, K, P, K, E

Now, when I called Elm, he had only one K response (instead of 3) and the rest went as followed. Why is this?

Question:

Are Egg IV's and Egg shinyness are determined at the same time, or at different times? If different, does that mean that shinyness is determined upon recieving the Egg and IV's upon hatching?

Using Platinum btw.

When the egg is generated (as in the daycare man has the egg and is waiting for you), the gender, nature, and shininess is determined.

When you get the egg from the daycare man, that is when the IVs are determined.

You can determine the shininess in one RNG session and then do another RNG for the specific IVs after.

Edit: Nevermind, what Mzenken said. :-)

Ooo thanks, I'll give it a try!

One other quick question. Does having roamers out affect the starting frame of eggs? I'm just learning to breed in HG.

How would you set a desired IV as 0 in the Time Finder? For instance, I want to have a pokemon with a 0 IV in speed so I can use it as a trick roomer or something. I've tried just typing in 0 for speed, but it doesn't work. Help please?

Type in 0 and make sure you press ==

Roamer question

The Roamers are not awake/released yet. That means I dont adjust the Roamer slots right. (so E R and L remains E __ R___ L__)

@chriz Yeah, thats right.
@Xyra Unfortunately, yes.
@Tytus Roamers do not advance the IRNG

To confirm my earlier question:

You can be sure of it's shinyness/non-shinyness as soon as the guy turns to the road, right?

And then if desired you can pick up the Egg at a completely different seed and frame to RNG for IV's and still be sure of it's shinyness?

Yes, Njb013, the Nature, Gender, Ability and Shinyness are generated as soon as the old guy has the egg. The IVs are generated as soon as you take the egg.
