Just for extra clarification, Focus Sash is consumed after use (it disappears from the Pokémon after its effect activates).
This means it only works once, even though Shedinja is still on full HP.
It also only works for direct damage from attacks, meaning it won't protect you from effects like Sandstorm, Stealth Rock or poison status.

Yes.

Azbycx:

The Sleep Talk description you gave is generally correct, except that Sleep Talk doesn't lose an additional PP on the second turn of Hyper Beam.

My description for Hyper Beam reads: " ... on the second round, user can't take any action and it skips its attack this round."

My description for "User can't take any action" includes the following: "No extra PP is spent ... at the second turn of ... Hyper Beam and equivalent moves."

Hey guys, I wanted to start RNGing but I am not sure whether the rules that apply to DPPt apply to HG...could someone clear this up for me?

A clarification on the Sleep Talk / Hyper beam:

Since a Resting Pokemon sleeps for 2 turns, if Sleep Talk chooses Hyper Beam (or its elemental equivalent) on turn 1 will the Pokemon still wake on turn 3? Or, does it recharge, sleep on turn 3 and then wake on turn 4?

Vrativ:

The sleep check comes before the Hyper Beam check. Therefore, the sleep count declines during the second turn of Hyper Beam and no message "X must recharge" will appear. Even so, however, the effect of Hyper Beam ends during the second turn.

Why is Softboiled suggested as only recovery for Mew, when there is Roost(which doesn´t require FR/LG and thus should usually be the primary option)? Are there any differences between those moves?(of course, I´m thinking about differences that actually have an effect on Mew - don´t bother mentioning the Flying type-thing)

so hax is considered luck, we all know that, and when something with less then 50% chance of happening happens, its considered hax am i right? so when something like jirachi use iron head, its hax when it DONT flinch, and its normal to flinch, same for togekiss and skymin air slash who while dont have the same 60% chance of flinching because of accuracy, still got more then 50%.

so my question is:does the fact a pokemon hax you to the point its not considered hax anymore prove the pokemon is broken or gamefreak just like to make us suffer?
This is just my personal opinion on using hax to your advantage: it's a valid strategy, but a potentially flimsy one. Rather than relying on consistent number, you're relying on a bit of luck. Sure, if you have the enemy paralyzed, confused, infatuated, and are hitting it with a move that makes it flinch 60% of the time, luck is on your side (only a 7.5% chance of the opponent actually being allowed to move at all, if my math is correct), but that 7.5% DOES happen sometimes, and if it does, you're SOL and JWF. (That's S*** Outta Luck and Jolly Well F***ed.)

Azbycx:

Yes. After Encore is used, the last move the opponent used overrides any move that opponent may have chosen: "During effect, opponent, during each of its turns, uses the last move it used before this attack was used"
As someone who absolutely loves Wobbuffet and uses it all the time against the fool NPC trainers, I can verify that this is, in fact, the case.

As you no doubt guessed, using Encore before the opponent has used any moves results in a "But it failed," message.

Once a focus sash has been used on [Shedinja], it won't reactivate again during the battle even after swiching out then in again.

Yes, and it's a damn pity that Shedinja is unable to learn Recycle. :(

I believe there's a DPPt/HGSS switch on the RNG finder.

I didnt see anything about this in the rules, and there isnt an RMT simple questions thread, so ill ask it here.

The rmt rules say I can only have one rmt open at a time, is that one total, or one rmt per tier?

That's one in total. You may post another one after at least 2 weeks.

you can make has many RMTs you want for any tier, but you can only post one every 2 weeks, after that time you can post another RMT posting a RMT before that time will cause him to be locked.

god dammit delko! stop this will ya!? its my job to be the faster thing alive and i will NOT allow anyone to be faster in anything!

question:can someone tell me the years that all gens came out in japan?

This is probably the worst place to post this, but I couldn't find anywhere else.

How do you get Gym badges above your avatar on Smogon? Do you have to
be a moderator or sumfing?

Yes, mods do have Badges over their avatars. Normal users don´t.
Btw:

Well, roost is a one time only TM, but mainly because the analasys generally unlimited resources (either shoddy or gameshark for wifi for infinite TMs) and at that point it makes absolutely no sense, so it was simply up to the writer whichever flavor move they preferred

I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but I'll just go for it :
I once lent my Platinum game to a friend, because he had lost his. He then decided to RNG his eggs' IVs, but claimed he didn't have good parents to begin with, so he hacked some. Then, he soft reseted the eggs' IVs and got some nice results. My question is : are they considered hacked? Since they don't come from legit parents, I'm not sure. My friend claims they are because they were bred in game and all, but I just thought I'd ask.

Are there are team building guides? I've been spending hours making an OU team only to get beaten up badly in minutes... I'm not really sure how to go about making teams :(

In the Advanced metagame making a team was so easy. You just had to make sure you had a special and physical walls and sweepers and choose pokemons who have complementing types. Now in D/P I'm just so lost. Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance (no pun, if any at all, intended.)

Can levitate be baton passes or no?
It's an ability so it can not be Baton Passed!

You can sign up for the tutoring program when it is available. Other then that you just need to battle and get used to the current metagame!

I've done that many times! It's okay as long as you breed them. Even if you hack do it correctly!

Levitate is an ability and not a buff, so no.

Duh, I'm stupid. Are there any moves outside of magnet rise that make ground moves ineffective that can be baton passed. Specifically any that make it a permanent thing not just for 5 turns like magnet rise?
