You skipped Banette. :(

im sorry but only the pokemon that absolutely didn't evolve already or had a prevolution made the list. Bannette is already pretty usable by itself but other pokemon like I listed don't have an evolution and I would like to see what pokemon could come up with.

If Dusclops got an evo, so should Banette.

And if Electabuzz and Magmar got evos, so should Jynx. :(

Honestly, though, I'm pretty sure Turbo Blaze and Tera Voltage will be variants of eachother. It's probably best to base your speculation with that in mind.

Well, here are some things that we haven't seen yet:

  • A damaging move with a chance to induce sleep
  • A Steel/Dark Pokemon (a Pokemon shaped like a weapon? we already have some based on inanimate objects)
  • A Fire/Ice type Pokemon
  • A Water/Fire type Pokemon (a Pokemon related to steam)
  • A Fire/Electric type Pokemon (maybe some sort of Pokemon based on energy?)
  • A Fighting/Flying type Pokemon
  • An Ice/Dragon type Pokemon (maybe the third Pokemon in the 5th gen's legendary trio to make an Ice/Electric/Fire trio like the legendary birds?)

I would assume that Telekinesis changed the target's ability to Levitate, but I think it would be cool if it removes the target's Levitate ability (fails if the target's ability is not Levitate).

@Pokethan: Dusclops was pretty usable and yet it got an evolution...

yeah but chatot didn't reach my list manly because he was just made this generation so he doesn't require it as much as say Farfetch'd does.
Yes, except no matter how much you beg, I can guarentee you, there wont be any Farefetch'd evolution
I dont know how many times I have said this. But not everything needs to be OU. There needs to be some pokemon, that are crapper than normal, otherwise it would take a lot of variety, and it would be more fun to play
If everything was an offensive/defensive powerhouse
The metagame will crumble. And pokemon will be all about chance, with whether or not your team can come up to standards

I was looking at Zekrom and the name of its new ability, Terra Voltage. And I was thinking what if Terra Voltage makes it so you can't use ground moves on Zekrom? Like the earth is magnetically held in place by its electricity. That really wouldn't be a bad ability at all. I can't speculate on what Turbo Blaze on Reshiram does but Zekrom's abilty intritgues me.

Levitate > That. I presume Terra Voltage just bypasses Ground immunity.

No it's not. While it has a good Atk it lacks Spe to use it and its crappy defenses won't let you take a hit if you want to play a bulky attacker (like Metagross). Not to mention his movepool is horrible and currently it allows just one available decent set (TR suicide lead)

Any predictions on what kind of stat build each of the freshly released Pokemon will be? Personally I'm hoping one of the following happens

Shimama: Has at least one evolution. Geared towards physical offense though being a mixed attacker would be okay since movepool tend to be very limited when it comes to quadruped creatures. Probably fast since it's a Zebra and an Electric type.

Meguroko: Also gains an evolution and is a more offensive version of Hippowdon. Crocodiles are strikingly fast when they want to be so I can see it have a base speed of around 60-85.

Hihidaruma: Bulky Infernape minus the fighting type? Hopefully it's ability is something very useful. BTW I'll laugh if it turns out that it has an evolution and that evolution is a Fire/Fighting type.

Mamepato: I have a hunch it will have two evolutions and that it be geared towards Physical offense. It would be interesting if it turns out to be a Specially geared version of Staraptor. Wondered how a special beginner bird to work out.

Is anyone else hoping those rumors are false?

I'm kind of apprehensive about the whole field effects thing. Will multiple be allowed at once? If so, whats the point why not just adjust the moves individually? If not (more likely) it seems like the game will just become based on trying to get your field effect activated. With so many effects most teams will probably make use of them them to some degree, so basically only one player can utilize their strategy at any given time. I kind of like the traditional, your strategy vs. theirs thing rather than just putting them hopelessly off balance right of the bat and then blowing through them.

Well that's my rant about the worst-case scenario of an unsubstantiated rumor that I know nothing about (we didn't get to 12564 by fact-checking ;P).

To say something good about it, it'll will go a long way towards making mono-type teams more viable, allowing my ghost team to achieve the level of dominance it deserves (Dear GF, Ghost/Fighting and Ghost/Steel. Now. Thanks), and maybe make gym leader teams a bit tougher.

Except for Munna, Chiramii, and Mamepato, I think they're all 1st stage Pokemon that don't evolve. Chiramii will have the standard one evo and Mamepato will either have one or two.

Any particular reason why you don't think the others will evolve? The theme of evolution was a minor part of DPP but Rowan still put forth the notion that certain pokemon are complete as beings as to not warrant an evolution. None of the recently released designs, save maybe the fire..thing, seem to anything more than the cuddly first form of an evolution chain. None of them look really complete.

The way I see things, Shimama is likely to evolve. I see it becoming something like Final Fantasy's Ixion, or overall, an electric Rapidash. I see Shimama as BW's Shinx. Small and cuddly with potential to become bad ass. Also, it has the same eyes as Shinx, with a bit of recolour. (not really important lol, but I found it interesting)

A few of the others can be categorized similarly. Gear reminds me of Bronzor in design, but I see it evolving like the Magnemite line, adding in a 3rd cog. Chiramii I see as this game's Buneary or Sentret. 2 chain, useful ingame for a time and caught early. I say Buneary over Bidoof because this thing will be used by an anime main cast character.

I don't see that pink thing turning into Drowzee however. Why bother making a prevo to a gen 1 pokemon that isn't all that popular or strong? It isn't like the blissey line or snorlax where they could use an addition to the line but are too strong for an evolution. Not to mention that they look nothing alike aside for both being weird looking. I see it more as just a stage one of a two stage family akin to Drowzee or Spoink, but not directly related.

Meguroko, Ground/Dark, a crocodile-like Pokemon, has an ability called Earthquake Spiral, which raises it's attack when it KOs another Pokemon. WTH!!! What kind of an ability is that, it can just hold a Choice Scarf, or since it's a Dark type, Pursuit a fleeing Psychic type and it gains a free boost. No, too overpowered, only Priority attacks can deal with it.

Hear ye, hear ye! I am making yet another prediction! I predict no new evolutions of old Pokémon in the 5th generation! So far, the pattern has been thus:

Odd-numbered generations have about 140 new Pokémon and no new evolutions of old Pokémon. Pre-evolutions are allowed.

Even-numbered generations have about 100 new Pokémon, many of which are evolutions of old Pokémon.

Sure, four generations isn't a very large sample space. Nevertheless, the odd-numbered generations seem to be the experimental generations where they break the game a little. Even-numbered generations seems to be the stable generations where they tweak the game to make it more balanced. One of the ways they do this is by creating new evolutions of existing Pokémon.

So far we have not seen any new Pokémon that looks like an evolution of an old Pokémon. Let's see if they keep the pattern going!

Meguroko, Ground/Dark, a crocodile-like Pokemon, has an ability called Earthquake Spiral, which raises it's attack when it KOs another Pokemon. WTH!!! Why is everyone assuming that this thing will learn Pursuit? Even Mightyena doesn't know Pursuit. It's far from guaranteed that this slow-looking crocodile will get it. Chances are that it'll be slow (but not so slow as to be fast under Trick Room) and that it won't have Pursuit or any priority attacks.

I can't see Shimama getting an evolution, Girafarig doesn't have one and they're pretty similar as "unique" horselike creatures. Chiramii will almost definitely get one. I don't think the floral pink bush thing is a pre-evo of Drowsee, I don't see the resemblance.

I'm so hyped up about this! I didn't have internet when everyone was getting all hyped and speculative about the upcoming 4th gen and I only discovered it when DP came out! It just seems so exciting to me :D

all odd numbered generations had a caterpillar-->cocoon-->insect line and all odd numbered generations also had a weak fish-->sea serpent line
that are the patterns i see

I can't see Shimama getting an evolution, Girafarig doesn't have one and they're pretty similar as "unique" horselike creatures.

Except Girafarig is 1.5m and 41kg whereas Shimama is 0.8m and only about 30kg. You expect a roughly 2 foot tall zebra not to evolve :P

Anyway, when it comes to horselike, you've also got Ponyta and Rapidash and Shimama is smaller than Ponyta.

I'd love it if when Shimama evolved, it got wings and Levitate and maybe a dual type like Dark or Ghost :D

Ground immune Electric without the weaknesses of the Flying type? YES
