guys my katakana is not the best, but i can see something in the phrase, it is:
Boku wa chiampion wo koe
okay, "boku wa" means i am.
"chiampion" means champion (duh)
"koe" i'm doubt about it but i remember something into the lines of "come"
so yeah maybe is the champion of the generation?

Actually, that seems very plausible, a villian who is out to destroy the world but believes he's doing the logical thing. It's giving me a huge feeling of familiarity... fascinating...

...same spacy, flowing pale-green hair, FASCINATING! It HAS to be! Caulder! Which means... the dude with the hat is his clone! It all makes sense now.
(Plus, the villian guy is wearing a scouter, and Caulder looks like he just crushed it in his hand. Scientific proof)
I like the design, however I don't think he will be one of the evil dudes. he looks to... normal. maybe a rival, a gym leader, or even the Champion. he does bare resemblance to the glowing green guy (below), so maybe the evil due is his father, or something?
I'm more curious as to how these close up conversations will work in game. obviously only important characters will get them, but I would assume they only happen at key events. if that's true, that implies this character is important enough to have a close up event.
looks pretty bad ass, and I'm definitely interested as to why he look the way he does. he looks almost God-like; a character I could see as the boss of a fighting game or something.
That room got owned. you can see foot prints all over the room (even on the walls... wat?) and everything is knocked over and messy. I think that means the battle is with an evil team member, and it's the green girls room.
the gym looks bad ass. those roller coasters would mean it's most likely at the amusement park town in the middle of the map, and I would say Electric Type gym, based on the lights and such. the gym leaders sprite (if that is in fact the gym leader) looks to have headphones on (or at least odd hair things...), which would further relate it to electric.
overall, I like where this is going.

From your translations, he might be a mayor or something and is humbled that the champion is coming to his town.

It's actually "koeru" (yeah that shot doesn't show the whole sentence). It could be translated literally as "I'm going to exceed the champion". Which means he's some kind of rival. Heh.
And "boku" isn't a "humble" way of referring to oneself, as far as I know. It's more like a male-only pronoun.
Lol I didn't notice they were on the walls too. Well, I guess a human cannot do that so easily, can it?
And I find it amazing Pokémon Sunday had only FIVE seconds of gameplay footage and yet they managed to throw us into a new cycle of hype till the next week. They only needed to show two green-haired guys and a trashed room and here we are now.
I'd say he's the rival, saying something like "I am going to be the champion" or something AWESOMELY ORIGINAL like that.

Update #2 (5:30 PM): The character in the third screenshot says "I will be better than the champion." Could he be the rival?
this character looks pretty normal, so now I'm rethinking it being part of the evil team. she really looks like a rival or a gym leader (at least based on previous trends). a Gym Leader makes little sense, unless we can have gym battles outside of the actual gyms. a rival is indeed possible, and I would say likely based on the appearance, but then the room being ransacked is confusing in the context of the fight (especially since we have no clue what the green girl is for). I like her design though. if the green haired boy is also a rival (which seem likely based on this line of text) then we may get more then one rival, which I was hoping for.
by the way, the girl is named Cheren, according to Pokebeach.
I dunno about you guys but these screenshots are definitely getting me pumped for this game. Totally excited to see all of the new features, and perhaps even a storyline worth playing through(for me, anyway) more than once.
Does it look like the God-Like figure is missing his left eye? :O

yes. September 18 is the Japanese release date. I'd assume around March next year for the US release.

I'm pretty sure the green guy is the rival, as he has that devious look on his face that says he's going to do something or something. Well, unless it's like Gen III or IV where your rival isn't evil, then he's probably the leader of Team ____.
What is the ____? Any speculation? I hope to god that the storyline with the villanous team is actually decent this time. The best they've done with a villanous storyline, imo, is Gen IV, and even then Team Galactic was a pushover. <_<

Has the effect of Reshiram's TurboBlaze ability been revealed yet? Been speculating all day, and guessing by its name I think it might be like Volt Absorb or maybe it will cause it to "levitate" for some set amount of time because of its engine ass.
Interesting, Cheren is obviously important enough to get one of those special VS screen cuts.
Maybe they are a detective / cop (I know they don't look like one but I dunno) and they think you did something wrong ("OMG AT THE SCENE OF THE CRIME!? YOU DID IT LOL FIGHT ME!"). The green girl's beret looks like a pizza... :O I think she might be related to the green haired guy(Rival?) who might be related to the crazy-awesome looking villain. If so, I assume father = crazy bastard, girl = PEACELOVEHORMANY AND I CRY A LOT, son = /badass i fight the ones that fight meeeeee. Finally, that gym looks so cool! The gym leader looks like a lanky woman.

I am leaning towards them increasing Speed and Special Attack/Attack when hit with a move of the corresponding types. When electricity boosts a generator the fans spin with more speed and power. Just a thought though....
Eh, the guys hair is tinted green, but it's not FULL ON GREEN. I think he's just the rival, and his name will just be white. He wants to beat the champion obviously...

Hah, you quoted me from about 100 pages back or so! Anyhow, I like your idea about the city, but having trainers walk around would make it hard to catch up to each other to battle. Rather, the union room idea with stationary trainers to battle would be perfectly satisfactory. Lets just cross our fingers that they implemented some form of battle restrictions. I don't want to fight 6 Kyogres on one team!
