According to Serebii, it also can get Keen Eye. It doesn't make sense that it would have one ability that benefits it and one that hurts it. I'd have to imagine that Encourage has some positive things about it.

Looking back, the ones that pissed me off were that goddamn bat, gothic lolita, and the pseudo ... They still do, but that now that more have been revealed they seem like the minority now that the majority.
Also I think it was the avatar change.

Pidgeot + Fearow + Dodrio in Gen1... Triple Normal/Flying types.
My take on everything:
- War-eagle, really looks like Aquilamon minus the horns. Similar color scheme, and it even has the weird fur stuff around it's neck. Either way it looks AWESOME. Encourage sounds like an awesome ability, because I'm 99% sure that recoil (Brave Bird, DoubleEdge) count as 2nd effects. So it boosts the attack... In exchange for removing 2nd effects. Super beneficial for recoil attacks, not so much for Hihidaruma(sp?) trying to get a burn... Unless it gets Flare Blitz, which I'm sure it will. wowowowow please give War-eagle DoubleEdge + Brave Bird. 120BP STABs x2 boosted by Encourage, recoil negated by encourage. All it needs is an attack to cover Steel and Rock types.

- Koromori looks kinda silly, in a cute way. Is that heart-shaped thing a nose?? Wasn't expecting Psychic/Flying at all.
- Was totally expecting the gothic loli to be Dark-type, but pure Psychic is... Decent. Magic Guard is killer though.
- Musharna is kinda cool, I wonder if it evolves again. And what is so special about it's evolution method? Hm.
- Cheren is definitely a battle rival (We saw a battle screen for Oha Suta). Beru looks like the lame helper but hopefully we get to battle her, too. N is badass I hope he's a rival who isn't collecting badges but doing something evil-ish or trying to take down the evil team but is a total asshole about it (Cause his dad is the leader, I dunno). Plus the opposite gender character... Sheesh!! Basically: Cheren will be a rival like Barry, Beru will be a rival like Wally, and N will be a rival like Silver. Opposite gender character will be a rival like May/Brendan (aka they just stop half way LOL).
The way I understand it is that it negates second effects like burn chance, but increases power. Well, he won't use airslash, but his moves will own.
What I think will happen is that the target will not get to execute its move if it takes its turn while in the air, but it you'll still get to give it commands while it's in the air. So if it's slower than the user of Free-Fall (or using a move that executes later, like Counter), it will still be able to attack the turn it falls.
I'm pretty sure GameFreak's not foolish enough to repeat its Wrap mistake. I remember back in first gen when I took out my friend's Golem with my Rapidash using Fire Spin. Boy, was he pissed.
It does give a power boost to the Pokémon's moves.
It's not known if it also affects moves that don't have a secondary effect, which would be awesome.

Why not? Secondary effect is any effects caused by the attack after damage (Something along those lines). 10% burn chance, and 1/3 HP reduction both sound to me like side-effects to the attack. Tackle on the other hand deals damage and does nothing. Therefore, no side-effects. Recoil is a side-effect.
Of course Gamefreak can fudge this up and make Encourage suck but hopefully they don't.

Has does that prove anything? <_< Shield Dust prevents the user from being affected by side-effects from opponents move. Obviously it's not going to stop side-effects from affect the opponent (ie, using Poison Sting on the opponent when the user has Shield Dust will still Poison the opponent).

What? Faster, weaker and frailer? We know absolutely nothing about Wargle other than that he gets a really cool new move and potentially kickass ability. Unusable my ass.

Yes, because we totally know its base stats, movepool, and what Encourage does. If Wishy is right, then he will be automatically more powerful. He looks like he'll have more attack, too, but we'll have to see.
Btw, I don't think Encourage blocks effects that affect the user, but only the target. IE, Ominous Wind will still have the chance to raise all stats, and Brave Bird will still induce recoil, but things like Lava Plume won't burn the target.
Rankurusu has totally grown on me, and now it gets magic guard? I'm in love, even though pure psychic is meh.
Wargle is freakin awesome too, and free fall sounds great. Encourage is a cool ability if it works like what we know about it.
