I want to know if I start EVing a newly hatched pokemon, like seedot, for SPatk and Speed, and it is equiped with the respective power item, does it still get the points even if I put it first and switch it out?

DarkLeader:

Yes. It still saw the opponent Pokemon, so it will earn Exp. Points, and therefore also EVs, when the opponent is defeated.

I'm playing Platinum and I wanted to get into Stark Mountain. To do this, I need to battle Azelf and Uxie. Is there any way to get into Stark Mountain without fainting / capturing the two pixies? I'd like to RNG abuse them later.

EDIT: Perfect, just like HG/SS. Thanks Redcodekevin. And by EVs, I'll assume you meant IVs.

Faint them. Next time you beat the E4, they will reappear at their respective locations and their EVs will not be set. Starting from platinum the same goes for all legendaries (with a few changes, like Giratina appearing again in Turnback Cave if fainted in Distortion World).

I asked this a few pages back, but I didn't get any answers. It was probably overlooked because I asked it in the same post as an answer to another question. Hope nobody minds me asking again.

Do smogonites/other competitive battlers ever use PBR?

The reason I ask is, I've been thinking about recording some matches, and I'm also planning on buying a capture card. I don't run any sort of emulators, recording Shoddy matches would be incredibly lame, and building a DS capture device requires technical knowledge I don't have and an investment of ~$200. So using a capture card on my Wii running PBR seems like the most logical solution.

@^^^, you can always use a video camera to record battles on your ds, but for the most part, no they don't play PBR. But, since I'm assuming this is going to youtube, you might as well record the PBR matches if you really feel like it.

I was wondering, if you have a Substitute up and the opponent uses a Physical attack on it, does Counter do any damage to them? Same thing for Mirror Coat I assume?

An attack absorbed by a Substitute can be countered for the amount of damage it would have done to the user had the user not had a substitute.

On the contrary, damage inflicted to a Substitute cannot be Countered or Mirror Coated or Metal Bursted, it would only work if a multi-hit move was used that broke the substitute like Rock Blast

how do I find my target frame for the Zapdos spread I want? (I've hit the seed with exact elm calls twice but both times the Zapdos has been Adamant..not Bold).

and how do i figure out what frame i DID hit when I got the adamant Zapdos twice?

Yes, although Skarmory probably still laughs at you, and Bronzong with levitate definitely does, so you will need something to deal with them.

Yes, Metagross typically attracts fire attacks which Swampert can take with ease, similarly you can switch Metagross in when Swampert is targeted by grass attacks.

What would be the most effective use for Infernape in a stadium-mode battle? I was thinking a mixed set such as this:

Fire Blast/Flamethrower
Close Combat
HP Ice
Grass Knot/U-turn

...but was also debating between Focus Sash (since he's so frail, especially after a CC, and there's very little Stealth Rock use in stadium-mode) or Choice Scarf.

Opinions?

Use this thread to ask for help.

From the sound of it, one of three things is happening... 1)You don't understand how to hit a target frame, in which case you need to re-read the guides, check a YouTube tutorial, or ask someone who knows how to do it, 2) you have an Adamant synchronizer at the front of your party you forgot about (I've done that before).

If its neither of those, then you are just hitting the wrong frame. In order to figure out what frame you're hitting, open the RNG reporter, and search for Method K Pokemon (HGSS) at your seed. and then find your Adamant spread somewhere near your target frame.

EDIT: Also, make sure you have your creation method correct.

If your thread about it got deleted then it is very likely that your thread topic (Draco Meteor) did not contain enough salient points to warrant a healthy discussion. Take a look at the other topics in Stark Mountain to get an idea of the sort of opening post you should be writing for a good thread.

I would Focus Sash him, as I rarely run into rocks in stadium, and as you said Infernape is way too frail to sit around and hope that nobody KOes him.

Is Low Kick or Brick Break better for a SD Weavile, in Wi-fi? I know Low Kick's the generally recommended option, but what does it have as advantages over BB on the SD set? Blissey and some other lightweights are more damaged through Brick Break...

What is better on a VGC Rayquaza Adamant or Jolly?

The Set would be something along the line of this?

Ani384OD.png

Rayquaza @ Focus Sash/Life Orb/Yache Berry
252 Attack - 252 Speed - 4 HP
Protect
Dragon Claw
ExtremeSpeed
EarthQuake

I was thinking Rayquaza has Base 150 Attack anyway so the 10% boost from Adamant isnt that important but the 10% from Jolly for speed would allow me to out speed most base 90s like Dialga and Kyogre that are not scarfed, as well as Giratina.

Sooo??

I'd suggest Low Kick, and Blissey is no lightweight. BB on Blissey is 75 base power, Low Kick on Blissey is 100 base power. Also 120 base power on Tyranitar is essential, unless you'd want to get walled.

Here you can find how much damage Low Kick does against opponents. Keep in mind that Brick Break has a base power of 75.
Because of this people tend to use Low Kick since it can have a base power up to 120, although it could also be 20 at the lowest. It just depends on what you need to hit hard. If you have problems with pokemon A and Low Kick does < 75, then Brick Break is the suggested option.

OK i need some help trying to decide which is the better choice between a similar move-set on 2 different pokes. The idea of the similar sets is a Anti-Sweeper Set In The OU Tier.
Poke #1...

Starmie
@Life Orb
252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe Nature: Timid
~ Hydro Pump / Surf
~ Thunderbolt
~ Ice Beam
~ Recover / Rapid Spin

Poke #2...

Mesprit
@Leftovers
252 HP / 180 Def / 76 SpD Nature: Bold
~ Thunderbolt
~ Ice Beam
~ Psychic
~ Thunder Wave / U-turn / Stealth Rock

I understand that using Mesprit can be a bit of a gimmick but i like to use surprise value with my pokes plus, imo, i think its more of a niche but whatever. Obviously starmie is a excellent OU poke but its SOOOOOO predictable imo. I plan on using either poke on a wierd kinda unorthadox heavy offense style team. Please feel free to ask questions about the team or any other questions you may have in order to help THANXXX!

If you are going to use some offensive Mesprit, you might as well go with a Calm Mind sweeper. (Calm Mind/ Ice Beam/ Thunderbolt/ Psychic).
You can also use Charm instead of Psychic since Psychic isn't really a useful move in OU, while Charm takes care of your weaker physical side as Calm Mind ups you special side, Charm also forces switches so entry hazard support is nice. Substitute is an option as well to be safe from status and revenge killers.
