I don't care if it only has 2 toes that statue definitely looks like dragonite.

But that would be strange seeing as how there's no non-isshu pokemon pre nat-dex.

Ok, so you ignored my other point entirely then just because half my post was incorrect. Excuse me for not classifying prehistoric animals, I was just pointing out why I thought they had a relation. The spikes on the side of its head still remains, along with the mountains on its back resembling the spikes anklyosaurus had on their back.

Ankylosaurus didn't have spikes on his back, but on to your point. If we are going to classify a pokemon as something or are going to say that it bears a resemblance to something just because it has one characteristic of that something, then we could easily say that houndoom has some relation with goats or ibexes just because it has horns that look like those of goats or ibexes.

Bitch please :A

I think when Gold/Silver came out, they were expected to be the last game in the series, so I doubt they would've come up with the trend at that point. Someone probably noticed it and suggested it at some point afterwards.

Uh...was that intended for me or the grass starter thing?

It seems like it would be a legendary, since Team Plasma is standing around it. My first thought was that it was Reshiram's bones, and in Black they try reviving Reshiram, and in White they make put armor on the bones or steal DNA from the bones and rip off Team Rocket's Mewtwo idea to make Zekrom. Though that might not be it, I'd have to imagine it as some kind of legendary if A) its in a museum and B) Team Plasma is standing around it. The only way I can see it being something else is if the game is set in the future, and it is showing an extinct Dragonite or something, and the extinct pokemon are a big focal point of the game. I doubt that though, since Ash is going to Isshu in the anime and looks the same age.

Actually the things on an anklyosuarus' back are armor plates that layer themselves on the back like shingles on a roof. Not spikes.

I certainly don't see 4 toes

Who said anything about 4 toes? Reshiram and Zekrom clearly have 3 toes in their artwork. As for 4 legs, it might simply have 2 arms and 2 legs but what could be hands seem to be shaped like feet.

Edit: Someone should translate that text to see what they're talking about.

I thought that Torterra's design was inspired by the nodosaurids more than the ankylosaurids. Just look up Hylaeosaurus and Sauropelta, for examples.

Eww. Tropius fossil? lawl

I really do want a Velociraptor. that wouldn't be as frail as Rampardos. I can se a lot of speed in that too

Sure do look like spikes to me. Again, enough with the petty semantic bullshit. My point still stands on Ankylosaurus having "something" on its back that resembles "something" on Torterra's back. Houndoom doesn't have horns because it is related to a goat or an ibex, but rather because satan is often represented with horns. Houndoom = satan's hell hound. It may not be the logic Gamefreak uses, but all art is up to interpretation, and that's what I think of when I see Houndoom. When I see Torterra, I notice its back and the spikes on the side of its head, and I think continent + turtle + ankylosaurus.

ANYWAYS... it appears this information drought is really starting to get to us. Nitpicking details, assuming all rumors and fanart have the ability to be true, etc. Corocoro can not come soon enough.

Rumours (like everything else right now) is that there's a second dragon evolution line. Dark/Dragon to be precise.

IF true, then I approve. I liked in Gen 3 how they had less powerful Dragons like Altaria and Flygon available fairly early (by 4th gym?), so this is good.

I always wondered what this thing was. It has wings and it looks huge. Dragonite???

What do you guys think??

Edit: Dragonite has 3 toes, so it has to be a new pokemom. It's not Reshiram or Zekrom either. 3rd legend, perhaps?? BTW, those are ribs, not pincers.

EDIT 2: Looks much too similar to Dragonite. It even has a whole in the head where his horn is.
I wouldn't focus on the details so much. That statue of Dialga/Palkia in Eterna city looks exactly like neither of them. It does look like a Dragonite judging from the skull, wings, and general body shape, but yeah it has four legs. Maybe it's a misidentified fossil Pokemon assembled from multiple skeletons of different species. It happens sometimes.

Edit: Oh.. that "hind leg" looks more like a front arm now. Yeah it's a Dragonite haha. Probably something like "Dragonite was hunted to extinction by people" blah blah.
