Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Alright, so I've managed to reach my target seed thanks to PikaTimer (thanks Risky !). Well, it was just this once, and I don't know if I'll ever do it again, but still.

My target was frame 22.
Minus : Sweet Scented Pokémon in Caves / Buildings -> 2
Minus : 5 roaming legendaries.
I needed to advance 15 frames.
Opened the Journal (+2 frames), flipped a page (+2), flipped a page (+2), flipped a page (+2), closed, then came back (+2), then closed again. I then began to run 128 steps with the 5 Pokemon in my party, but forgot to use a repel... and quickly ran into an unwanted Onyx.
I captured him, and checked what frame he did come from. The result was... frame 56.

It was at the very top of Victory Road, near the exit. No wandering (or even head-turning) trainer, no weather effect. Can anyone please explain how it can reach frame 56 when I do almost nothing to increase it ?

but you did something to increase the frame
you walked in an area with wild pokemon (even if you use a repel) which advances the frame by 1 for each step or turn

EDIT:No problem let me know how it goes:)

metalkid's iv calculator wants eps for excact iv i dont know how to get eps and is the excact ev needed

If you just caught a pokemon and you never used it to battle a wild pokemon, then it has no effort values at all. Weren't you trying to catch the red Gyarados multiple times? If that's the case, there are no effort values (EVs).

Hurrah, I think I managed to match the game to the RNG Reporter main window.

I missed the target seed, but used the failed seed to predict what would happen on frame 7. Since I had 5 roaming legendaries, and I wanted to use Sweet Scent without moving from my loading position, it was safe to assume that I would reach frame 7. I caught a Rhydon, and its IVs & nature matched this seed's predicted frame 7.

At least, this means I have found a spot where nothing moves. That's a start.

Hyper hurrah ! I managed to reach my target seed, then my target frame with a bit of journal flipping, and caught the little guy I wanted. His nature makes him almost useless, but still, this is great.

Thanks to those who helped, you really... helped !

Dont double post. Also you should have advanced the frame to a better spread.

The thing was, I really wanted to see it work, rather than going for something really great on the first try. I really didn't want to go for a Frame 250 and risk for miss it by one or two. Frame 23 ? Easy to reach, and even if I fail it's not a big deal.

Now what I understand how the frame thing works, I may begin to try and reach very high frame numbers. But I needed a bit of training with low numbers first !

Might as well go all the way! I mean if you mess up, big deal, do it again. It's also better practice and not to mention the REWARD of doing it right. However you try to do it, good luck!

So I'm working on my average delays, and I seem to constantly stay in the range of 620-630. So should I put this range in or should I keep going until I find an exact one that I hit more than others?

That's pretty much narrowed down. Don't bother to pinpoint one particular delay, they vary along with your mood. One day you may land the same delay 10 times in a row and the next miss it in each and every try.

I'm trying to get my frame number on diamond, but no matter how fast I click the buneary and the lady walk one step. Could anyone tell me how much these two advance the frame since I can't seem to get the egg before they walk?

This is why you "calibrate" the eggframe. There is no way to know how many frames the NPCs advanced other than by checking it yourself before hand and adjusting accordingly. Read the guides more carefully and you'll see that NPCs that move in set patters - like the bunneary - don't advance frames at all.

Ohhh, I hadn't seen the NPC part, sorry. Thank you for your help! Hopefully I'll have my first IV'd pokemon by the end of tonight :D

I'm currently trying to RNG a good Gastly. I came across a spread with HP Fire 70, and I checked the Encounter Slots. For Grass and Cave, it's 8. The guide from the link on the first page seems to group together Caves and Buildings, so I assume that Old Chateau, as a building falls under 8 as an encounter slot as well.

However, upon checking the Encounter Slots page, Gengar ALSO falls under 8 for the room you can catch it in. But, it requires that there be a GBA game inserted into the DS. I'm wondering what if I have to do anything differently with a GBA game inserted.

I'm in the calibration phase. For some reason my frames are over 100. The last time I did frames it was around 10.. Is it normal for frames to sometimes be this high?

The "egg calibration" means you will enter the game and collect the egg as fast as you can, capture a pokemon to see which seed you landed on, hatch th egg and check it's IVs to see in which frame you collected it and then turn off without saving.

Yes, I know what it is, that is exactly what I'm doing. I will try it again and see if I get any changes. :)
It came out 145 :/ Is that normal?

The GBA will change whether your delay is odd or even, so that's what you must be careful of when you do this project.

Edit: Chihauhuaowner, no it's not normal. You're deviating from what the guides say to do somehow.

Hmm well I'm confusing myself with it, so I'm gonna follow a youtube video through it. I've done it before, and I was pretty sure it wasn't normal, so I'll try to find out why this keeps happening.
Edit: Diamond

So, I should just expect a few more failures than usual?

Not, that's not what you should expect.

If your seed has an odd delay, and your game usually has an odd delay, putting in your GBA game will make your delay even, so you can't hit your odd delay unless you change the year that you RNG to make it odd again.

Ah, I see. For the most part, I've consistently been hitting even delays, with the rare odd one appearing sometimes. My needed delay is odd, so I shouldn't need to change to much. Thanks.
