I think its too odd that suddenly GF is worrying about catering to the metagame like this. My common sense is tingling.

Anyone forget about the faked Screen Shot? But somehow he's still legit.

Oh, HELL no. Three Fire/Fighting in a row? And the other starts DON'T get secondary typings? Fucking retarded.

And if it turns out that there are now eight IVs, instead of each IV having a maximum value of Eight, I will skip B/W .__.

Hmm? Why is everyone suddenly believing pokexperto's epic trolling? There's no confirmation, but come on, even GF couldn't fail so hard as to use those sprites.

I really, really doubt Gamefreak will be assholes and give us fire/fighting, pure water, and pure grass. They tend to troll us a lot, but I would put money on them not giving us such shitty typings.

If they do end up using another Fire/Fighting starter, that would be pretty disappointing. Still, it's nothing shocking--GameFreak has been using similar types for years. The most notorious example would be the normal/flying bird that's in every single game.

I'm more interested in the stat distributions. It would be cool to have a fast sweeper water starter.

What the frick. If GameTroll actually goes ahead with this and uses Grass, Water and Fire/Fighting as the typings, they're completely disillusioned.

Then again, those starter evolutions are /very/ fake, so I highly doubt that this should be a trusted source. As a lot of people have said, Grass/Psychic, Fire/Dark and Water/Fighting would be excellent, both for the cycle of super-effectiveness and for aesthetic design.

It should be Fire/Psychic :3

Its interesting how everyone is super skeptical of respected Pokemon news sites such as Serebii but are so eager to believe any random rumor from a no-name person on 2chan.

IM ACTUALY HOPEING THEY ARE FAKE!!!
However what if the info is not fake, wtf do we do then?
I hate all of the starters in this generation...

BECAUSE IT'S A PERSON SPEAKING JAPANESE. [/sarcasm]

Basically yeah. Not keeping up-to-date with any "news" until September 18th.

Yeah, if those starters and their horrendously boring typings turn out to be true, this will be the first generation where I will dump my starter in the pc or make it an HM slave, and that's sad. GF has always put a lot of effort into making the starters powerful, appealing, and creative in the past, especially in the last two generations, so I don't know why things what they were thinking this time. Grass, Fire/Fighting, and Water is the absolute worst, most boring, most overdone possible type combinations they could be. I just hope CoroCoro could settle this once and for all in the next day or so, even just to prove whether or not Melkor's info is true.

But those other rumours, while suspicious, sound very cool. Altering base stats of old Pokemon, if done right, would be my favorite thing about the Generation V. For example, ever since I saw her base stats, I could never understand why Froslass only has 80 base Sp.Atk, when her design and typing just screams Special Sweeper! All they need to do is move 30 points from attack into Special Attack, to make base 50 atk and 110 sp.atk, and it would be perfect. If GF did stuff like this, improving base stats in a way that makes more sense with the design and other aspects of the Pokemon, it would give older overlooked Pokemon a boost and a reason to use them. I'm talking about leveraging the stats of stuff like Steelix (more attack), Ninetails (more Sp.Atk, it's a mystical Kitsune, come on), Cresselia (more Sp.Atk, like 95), and Claydol (again, more Sp.Atk).

Another example: Miltank, a fat cow, has base 100 speed. This means Miltank is faster than the Rayquaza. O_O Why is this?? I swear, someone must have made a technical error with her stats and mixed up Special Defense and Speed. If those stats were switched, it would make a much better curse user, especially since it has Scrappy, and it would actually make since.

I would find it extremely odd if they really made it so that Darkrai should be using Hypnosis over its signature Dark Void in single battles. I guess it's still better in Double/Triple Battles, but...

I quite like most of those rumors, which seem plausible for the most part. I'm pretty worried about a possible IV overhaul and its effects on our existing Hidden Powers though. If typing remains consistent with Gen IV, then at least it would stand to reason that Pokemon with Hidden Power 30 in previous Gens now become 60, Hidden Power 50 becomes 65, Hidden Power 70 remains 70, and the rest of the base powers fall between 60 and 70 based on some math curve or formula (i.e. 40 power becomes either 62 or 63 power in Gen V).

The hypnosis nerf, if true, could be related to all the accuracy raising moves/abilties that have been introduced.

Victini + Darkrai + 80% accurate Dark Void= :o

I think it's much more likely we'll get Fire/Dark and Water/Fighting, the latter of which is very useful in the current metagame. I doubt they'll give us another pure Grass type - I'm hoping for Grass/Dragon or Grass/Psychic.

That could actually be true, but it still doesn´t justify nerfing Dark Void in Singles. They didn´t do it with Spore, after all. And those two moves are in the same position: Both make a certain pokemon actually viable(at least Breloom is pretty useless without it)

Those are my exact predictions as well, I think they fit perfectly. I'm really hoping Tsutajaa will get Nasty Plot, and that Mijumaru will get a decent fighting move other than brick break, hopefully Superpower. Close Combat is out of the question for that Narwhalrus. Since it looks pretty slow, it will probably work best as a bulky offensive Pokemon, unless it's half rock and gets Rock Polish. Megahorn is also very likely, which would be nice.

Btw, Melkor updated with this silhouette, which is either the final Kurumiru evo or the evo of the complementary bug/poison type. Kurumiru supposedly keeps it's Bug/Grass Typing, which is cool. It actually seems to look pretty decent, thankfully, as Kurumiru is probably my favorite early game bug now.
