Yeah, IVs really are only a "flavor" thing to make every Pokemon unique from others of the same Level/Nature/Species, but in competitive battles, it's a major inconvenience.
Perfectly said. IVs are flavor and fall in the theme of each pokemon being individual. This is why they will never go away to think otherwise is foolish.
The competative scene merely wishes to pump all its pokemon with steriods because that is the 'best case scenario'. The problem in my mind with this is that it comes at the cost of abusing the game and defying the very intent of the creators. Imagine if you couldn't hack perfect pokemon. Imagine how the metagame would change...
not much beyond HP sets, and really is it a 'Hidden Power' when every Vaporeon is running it?
Sure, I'm all for them making breeding perfect IVs. HG and SS was a good step, but perfect 'should' take hard work and effort not 'Legitamate Hacking.' I don't oppose RNG because it is at least within the game's code and is a bitch to pull off, but resorting to PokeSav or AR's is cheap and only creates an arms race of who can hack the best.
You want perfect IVs and maxed PPs without any effort? Go play shoddy.
While we are at purging IVs lets also only use beneficial natures and make all pokemon shiny. Oh wait we do that in shoddy.
----
Just to continue beating a dead horse;
It's frustrating, because to remain competitive you almost certainly need near-perfect IV's to play against the hacking players, but I can completely understand why they're there and so hard to get good IVs.
Fixed for accuracy. If we didn't have ARs or pokesav or RNG competative battling would be less demanding.
Sure, it's realistic, but why should a game where ten 10 year olds go across the world catching giant monsters and using them to save the world be realistic? Fun should be the only concern.
Oh because IVs are the only thing keeping pokemon from being 'fun'. >_> Because 'winning' every battle is all that matters. <_< Because a 10 year old really cares about a metagame that is contrived under 'perfectly impossible' circumstances.

Right now the thing that worries me the most is the interview with Sugimori, talking about how the water pokemon looks totally different and like a Sealion. It bothers me alot to knock me down to 60% certain PxP is trolling.
But then I see the shitty excuses Hiro calls fan art of pokemon and can't believe them.
I'll laugh so hard if Sugimori is trolling us about Miju3 being a Sealion :A.

Did we forget about Chillarmy being numbered at 78 in Isshu dex?
Assuming that their isn't some fucked up International Dex he'd be at 571-572(?)
But Melkor said Zoroark is #571...
It all depends where Victini falls. There is reason to suspect Victini is
not actually #000 in the Isshu dex.
Firstly, if you obtained any non-region pokemon in Sinnoh before you get the national dex the pokemon is numbered as #000. Secondly, they could have done it to prevent people from guessing how many new pokemon there are. This ties into the desire of the creators to make the game a complete surprise.
*Cross fingers*
(Also did anyone else think that Victiny also has another meaning beyond victory? The roman numeral V comes to mind :P)
