Other than a diverse movepool and some nifty resistances, I don't see why I'd use this... it has both the weaknesses of a specially-biased spin blocker and a bulky water.
Because unlike specially-based spin blockers, it has a reliable recovery, and unlike bulky waters, it can spread Burn more reliably through Will'o'Wisp.Other than a diverse movepool and some nifty resistances, I don't see why I'd use this... it has both the weaknesses of a specially-biased spin blocker and a bulky water.
100/70/105 is just below Hippowdon's 108/118/72 defenses (with hippo being physically inclined, while JellyKing is Specially inclined). However, Burunkeru can double as spin blocker and spread burn, making him bulky in both sides of the table. It's defenses are by no means above average though.
Of course it isn't. But it is probably the replacement of Rotom-A as best spin blocker in the metagame, with reliable recovery.Hmm, I'm not completely sold, but I'll keep looking back. I just don't think this is God's gift of bulky water to mankind.
It makes it hard to run stall with a decent wishpasser (Vaporeon) or status absorber... combining two roles into one gives the best and worst of both worlds.Of course it isn't. But it is probably the replacement of Rotom-A as best spin blocker in the metagame, with reliable recovery.

You would be surprised with how useful Sucker Punch is. Coming from LO Honchkrow, it's deadly. You know what I just realized about this guy? He either resists or is immune to almost every single priority attack there is in the game (aqua jet, quick attack, mach punch, vaccuum wave, bullet punch). The only one that he doesn't resist is shadow sneak (if I remembered them all). I didn't count sucker punch because it only hits first if you use an attacking move, so I don't really consider it to be a priority attack. More like setup fodder.
Whenever I see this guy I automatically assume the opponent has a Nattorei as well and I'm almost always right.
I expect lots of pokemon running surprise HP Fire just to counter this duo.
People keep talking about that, but it's not like there aren't four other Pokemon they have to add to the defensive core.
Anyway, Burungeru's main attraction is spin blocking + Recover, imo. It has great bulk, obviously, and Taunt shuts down a lot of stuff. Taunt + Recover + Night Shade + Boiling Water is fantastic.
The thing I wonder about, is Night Shade really worth using over Shadow Ball? It has a very usable special attack stat.
Although Night Shade+Boiling Water cannot be resisted by anything but that grass/normal pokemon, you also won't be hitting other ghosts or psychics super effectively.
And Boiling Water does cover many(Not all) of the pokemon that resist shadow ball.
The main reason other pokemon use seismic toss or night shade is mostly because they either don't have a usable attacking stat, or just don't receive STAB to exploit their usable attacking stat.. This guy, however, has 2 very good STABs with usable special attack so I personally don't believe it has to resort to night shade.
