Good series.

Except for the fact that the Rays are going to be stripped of some good talent, but that has nothing to do with the series.

Crawford walking won't be that huge of a deal, if Jennings matures like he's expected to. Soriano leaving is a bit worse, but then again they have Benoit and others like Howell to pick up the slack so their bullpen shouldn't be too bad. Pena leaving really only impacts their power numbers because he was hitting below the Mendoza line. That might even hurt his value enough to where he might stay, tbh. All-in-all, I don't think we've seen the last of the Rays. Their young prospects combined with freed up money from Soriano and Crawford leaving could actually end up improving them.

Cliff Lee is pitching in Yankee Stadium in this series. We'd better get used to that...

I think he's going to get five years, $120M from the Yankees in the offseason.

They have a reason to be arrogant. Lee is pitching at most 2 games out of this series which really hurts the Rangers' chances. Meanwhile the Yankees have their rotation rested, and set. The Rays/Rangers series going 5 games is easily the best thing they could've hoped for. What I wouldn't be so arrogant about is the NL. Both of those teams look a bit scary, with their trio of aces.

Philly is stronger than San Fran, no doubt. The Yanks shouldn't have too much trouble against the Rangers, as they're a lot more consistent on offense and have enough pitching talent to last through. Plus, Lee needs the rest (he's coming in on what, game 3?) The WS should be interesting though, but I don't seen either Philly or the Yankees missing it.

Yeah he'll be in game 3. Which means he can start maybe 2 games. Hopefully the Yankees can wrap it up before it gets to that point. Philly should come out on top that series, but I wouldn't be too surprised if the Giants can make it, especially with their bullpen.

Cliff Lee has never pitched on short rest in his career. So in order to pitch twice in the series, it'll have to go the full seven games, unless he does end up pitching on short rest.

He'd do it if it was an elimination or clinch game. Plus he wants to show his worth to potential franchises (read: Yankees) who will sign him at the end of the season.

Benoit is also a free agent.

Really looking forward to seeing how my boy Halladay follows up his no-hitter. Looking forward to watching Lincecum pitch, I just... like watching him pitch, lol.

They're both great. Now, the question is: in the previous series was Lincecum's performance better than Halladay's no-no? After all, the game was closer, he threw more pitches, had more K's, and he needed to prove himself after some poorer showings recently (correct anything if wrong). Anyway, looking forward to this series as well as heckling my Yankees fan history teaching from the back of the room. It's gonna be a good rest of October...

Me too. My team isn't in it this year, so I'm rooting for Roy Halladay. That no-hitter was classic. By the time the 7th inning rolled around I was convinced he was gonna pull it off.

blame Ron Washington for taking out Wilson at the first sign of trouble. he had a reasonable amount of pitches and a sizeable lead and was dominating the Yanks all night. taking him out made NO sense.

Yeah, a few years ago I wanted to go for a young exciting team with lots of potential who had never really won anything. I then saw a Rangers game back when their pitching sucked 4 or so years ago, but when their batting was ridiculous and just started supporting them. I then found out they are the only team not to make it past the first round in their history, so that when they finally did I'd be able to witness it :). Back to yesterday, I agree aamto. Wash is a great people person, but has to be amongst the worst tactical managers in the league. We've won all season in spite of him. We're up by 5 again in the seventh, so I pray that Wash and the Rangers bullpen don't fuck up today! That would be soul crushing :( .
