Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

1. Lugia is Method K. (So are all the legendaries in the game which you can interact with, i.e. walk up to to talk to).

2. There are Timid spreads lower than 1000. It depends if you're going for shiny on your cartridge. When I did my Timid 31/31/31/31/31/31 Lugia I think the frame was ~300. Took about 20 minutes to advance the frame, and then about 10 minutes in battle to catch in that bloody dive ball :P

3. Not unless you're doing it on an emulator. If you are then you can do a Save State at the start of the battle, and if it faints, just load back from the save state. If you're doing it on a retail cartridge, I'm afraid not.

@Torchic:
It's not a sure thing that you'll hit your seed.
Probabilistically nothing's really certain, like you might never roll a 6, even if you rolled a dice constantly for a week.

Once you start getting +/- 2 delays from your seed, I wouldn't bother correcting the timer any more. Just keep trying with those settings and you should eventually hit it.

And as for the -1 thing at the start. Mine's done that before, it's never seemed to be a problem, but it's only happened once or twice.

What does it mean when you enter elm's responses, for example, k,e,p,p,k,e,e,k,p,e

And when you press ok, it sends you to something that says

p,e,k,e,p,p,k,e,e,k,p,e

Why did it do that?

It means that your game started 2 frames in.

If you ignore the starting {P , E} from the one it sends you, it's what you got.
This means that during the time it took you to bring up Pokegear, the game advanced 2 frames.

So, that means that an NPC managed to move around a bit before I got to the Pokégear. That makes sense, as the amount before what Elm says varies. At least I get to know what frame I am on anyway.

I do not know if I should keep going. Is a Timid HP Fire Latios for Generation V really worth it? I can't trade for one because I got on the Wifi blacklist (you probably read the post I made recently in the blacklist thread about my side of the story) and I want it to have my OT anyway.

And it's disheartening when a seed has the first three elm responses as my target, but the fourth response is different. It is depressing to keep doing this in the badly-lighted, lonely, cluttered room where my only PC is kept, especially at night which is when I have time to do it.

Is HGSS RNG breeding easier? The last I tried HGSS RNGing, it nearly gave me an aneurysm. Then again, I was trying to hit a frame in the 1000+ range...

I think it's easier. There's no need to try for a frame in the 1000+ really. You should be able to find what you're looking for much lower than that, especially since it's breeding. I've bred many shinies, and many flawless and have never had a frame above 16.

Well, I'm guessing that rhis problem only happens with Skarmory. When I was breeding an Aerodactyl, the frame advancing worked. I'll give it a try and get back to you guys.

If I'm after a Pewter City Latios that's on frame 116, and the most recent Elm call I've completed corresponds to frame 10, I need to tune to the Pokémon Search Party 105 times before talking to Latios, correct?

I just want to understand that if an Elm call corresponds to frame x, I am on frame x after I complete that call, correct?

Yes, if your target is 116, you will want to make the call that corresponds to 115, and then exit quickly and encounter hopefully avoiding NPC movements. I recommend the top right station to advance. It is much quicker (13-14 advances per use on my game) but inconsistent. In your situation I would probably use it 6 times, and then use elm calls again to locate what frame I was on.

I am trying to look for Jolly/Adamant/Bold natures in the RNGReporter for Method K Pokes, but no results come up. I'm searching within a delay range of 610-640 and a max frame of 150.

Anyone have seeds that might be able to help, or at least point me in the right direction? For example, on Adamant, I'm selecting 31 IVs for all stats except SpA, which I don't know what to put for. I usually just put "None" but I think I can't get results that way. I don't know what ==, <=, =>, !=, etc means.

When you were doing your calibration, were the delays that you hit even or odd? They should always have been one or the other.

I think I also hit an odd delay of 489, 493, and 497. How does that differ from even delays? I think I got lost with even and odd delays.

I have no problem hitting the seconds. Just the delay. I can now also hit the EVEN delay that RNG Reporter requires me to do. Just the right delay... I hit 956 but I need 978 though >.>

samster712: This is what this thread is for methinks - for the general RNG anyways - captures and egg IVs. Have you looked at the guide and youtube vids before asking for help? They're great sources of information and will help both you and a potential tutor with not going over the basic terms, etc.

Champloo: Don't quote me, but I believe it's the same as all stationary: +1 on interact.

Musica: Normally, save from Diamond/Pearl, you only hit even or only hit odd delays. If this isn't the problem but the problem is hitting the RIGHT delay, then I suggest pikatimer help. It will definitely be your best friend along with RNG Reporter and Wichu's PokeRNG for your RNG career ^^

When I do the Calibration for platinum, I type in the EV's, nature etc.
It says that the Date and Time is wrong. I've tried this five times already and am not sure what I did wrong

Do you have the YYYY/MM/DD Hour/Minute correct?
You might probably have put 01 instead of 1_?

Try with a different Pokemon ranging from lvl 45-50. Make sure you type the Level, HP, Atk, Def, SpA, SpD, Spe values correctly and chosen the correct Pokemon, Nature and Characteristic.

Yes, I believe I've done it all correctly and also tried both 01 and 1_.
All pokemons I caught in the Calibration phrase was lvl 48 or so.

Wichu's PokeRNG? Hmm. Haven't tried that yet, but will do. :D
I'm on SS, btw. I only hit odd delays still, but scrolling 5 times down, 5 times up on menu screen helps me hit even delays. I think I'm close with the 978 delay I'm trying to hit. I only use RNG Reporter, and PikaTimer at the moment.

You might have chosen HGSS instead of DPP or Custom instead of DPP below the Pokemon Species tab? I've been through that mistake thrice :D

Also is it better to use "Find initial seeds by IVs" or "Find initial seeds by stats"
Cause I've been using the "Find initial seeds by IVs" and just says Date and Time is incorrect.

Ohhhhh. I think I see your problem.
If you have the AR (Action Replay) Code for finding IV's, you better use Find Initial Seeds by IV's, but if you're like me who doesn't have AR, better use Find Initial Seeds By Stats.

Quick Edit..
I assume that you have AR Codes for showing IV's because you've mentioned that you clone Pokemon. (No offense meant, purely assuming.)

Its definitely on DPP and what RNG abuse application are you using?
Cause I don't see the Pokemon Species tab.
I've got an AR. Does it work if you catch the pokemon, turn the DS off , load up the action replay then look at the IV's.
Cause thats what I do since my AR is stuffed.

My mistake, it was the Pokemon (Species) drop down menu on the Find Seeds by Stats Tab on RNG Reporter 8.31.
I think you'll find it easier to use Find Seeds by IV's if you have the AR code for showing IV's of a pokemon.

Try loading up action replay before you catch the pokemon.
Save in front of the Pokemon (if it were a stationary legendary/pokemon).
Turn DS off
Load up Action Replay
Load up Pokemon game
Catch the Pokemon you wanted to know the IV's
Check for the Pokemon's IV's (There is an instruction on how you would see the IV's of the Pokemon)
Input it on RNG Reporter

Either way, the Find Seeds by Stats does the same thing with just a different approach/process.
Same Year/Month/Date Hour/Minute input, you just need to choose the pokemon and put its nature, characteristics, and stats on the corresponding spaces.
