Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

That I understand completely. It's just that my calibrated delay changes when it's not supposed to.

I won't worry about it anymore, too much stress and confusion.

Actually I just checked an old text file where I put the info for my calibration and the delay also changed, not by much though.
On platinum
Without AR 14seconds - 596 delay
with AR 15 seconds - 600 delay

That's why you should do calibration for both with and without an AR.

How many frames does sweet scenting WHILE SURFING advance your frame by in HGSS?

If it matters, my sweet scent frame advancement on LAND is 2.

@Klutch.
Mine's 2 on land, and 3 on the water. I assume that'd be the same as yours :)
You're probably correct because I missed it by 1 extra frame when I assumed they were the same -_- . Thanks for confirming it though.
Edit: I have confirmation that it is indeed +3 since I just caught the desired pokemon.

@Klutch:
Glad to hear it was right :)

Anyone know how to RNG ID/SID on a Platinum rom.
I've done it quite a few times on a real cart, but just can't get it to work on my laptop.

Here's what I'm doing:

Seed: 77161490
Delay: 5254
Seconds: 44
Date: 25th December, 2010
Time: 22:31;44.

Pikatimer settings:
First Timer: 10.43
Second Timer: 93.57
Minutes before target (1)

(The first timer was 60s higher, I tried it a few times with this, but changed it to this, and lowered the minutes before. Don't think it should make any difference).

I set my Laptop clock to 22:29;55.
I click confirm, and with the clock still open, switch to Pikatimer and start the timer at 22:30;00.
I then open up my emulator (Desmume), and click "Run" once the first timer hits 0.00.
I then go through the startup up until the point when the ID/SID is chosen (just before your character does the shrinking animation?).
I wait until the second timer reaches 0.00, and then press A, to continue.
I then go check my ID in Pandora's box, and there's none in the 4500 - 6000 range (I set it VERY wide in order to try and find the seed I hit).
The ID I did hit was " 36863 ".
I can usually get the right second, and around +/- 50 frames for ID/SID abuse on my carts.

Any advice on where I'm going wrong, etc.?

This is a first for me on Pikatimer. So I have everything set up as usual and I'm adjusting my other delay as usual. I manage to land on my delay but my seconds are always off O_o...by like 1. At first I had a Calibrated Target and Wanted target of 13 each and I entering the game at 14 seconds so I just changed up the wanted seconds but now I'm landing on 15 seconds. Is it just not my day today or am I doing something wrong? I've never had this problem with pikatimer, so just to be clear I know how to use it :P

Don't adjust Pikatimer if you land on the right delay and the wrong seconds. Adjust the DS minute to compensate. One minute on the DS changes the seconds by one.

Adjust one minute back? Wouldn't that change what time I enter the game though? Since pikatimer is telling me to set it 1 minute before my target time. Could you explain how that'll change it by a second?

All you really need to understand is that one minute on the DS changes the second you arrive in the game. If you land on your delay and discover you are one second too late or too early, you just adjust your DS minutes accordingly to arrive on the proper seconds. This works for basic RNG captures, breeding and even SID RNG.

I never adjust Pikatimer for seconds. I adjust it for delays and I adjust the DS minutes to compensate for wrong seconds.

I hit my seconds while I was reading this lol. Seems I just wasn't syncing with Pikatimer. But Thanks I'll keep this in mind next time :)

The problem with emulators is that they do not run the game at the consistent ~60FPS that the DS does, it can be less or more depending on the computer and emulator. Thus using a timer is not helpful at all.

You don't want to try to hit delays, you want to try to hit seeds. Emulators give you the benefit of locking in delays via save states, so save state right as you click A to dismiss the television message. Based on the IDs you get you can check your delay you locked into, and then you use that delay to see if there are any shiny IDs for the target PID. Kazo did a video on ID/SID RNG back in February for a HGSS Groudon, so check his youtube for the hour long video.

If there are no shiny ID seeds, try another go and get a different delay. It's best to have an external save state right before dismissing, and one for each delay you hit so you can use the same delays for multiple IDs.

If there are any more questions I can discuss them via PM.

@Winters, Toastplusone and Musica: sorry guys, terribly sorry. The reason i keep getting stupid frame of 5 is because i still have roamers. Sorry for not checking on that, i hate those things. Ill try to abuse them so that they stop bugging me everytime i get richer and level up in E4. :|

tomorrow I will attempt the impossible and attempt to RNG my first pokemon...ZAPDOS!!! wish me luck

PS this is a good spread for a zapdos right? 30 / 15 / 30 / 31 / 31 / 31. (HP Ice 70)

So if my target frame was 7, for example. I only need to do 3 elm calls and 1 sweet scent? or 4 elm calls + 1 sweet scent?

HG/SS you have to do an initial calibration to know how many frames sweet scenting advances.

DPPt:
Water: +3
grass/cave: +2

Hg/SS:
Water: I think it's EITHER +2 or +3
Grass/cave: Either +1 or +2

It'll only be one or the other, never randomized so you just have to do this once :)

Eh, you can enter the game, capture a pokemon and use seed finder. After that, you know all the information to sweet scent and see how far your frame advanced :)

DPPt:
Water: +3
grass/cave: +2

Hg/SS:
Water: +3
Grass/cave: +2
Headbutt (lol) +3

I never did scenting on water, so don't take our word for it. I bet it's just the same as dppt
