Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

I've been doing the calibration thinygs like the guide says, and I've gotten all 14 seconds, with 634, 627, 636, 633 and 626 delays. Is this good? Also I tried doing this on a DSi first and it didn't work at all 'cause it was next to impossible to sync it to my laptop accurately enough.

That's fine. You can try using 14 seconds and 630 as your delay. You can adjust to get the right one later. That seems like a really high delay though. I wouldn't be surprised if it goes down into the 570-580 range with a 14 second calibration.

No, 2 minutes in total before the last timer went off. First time was 83,03 sec and the second timer was 26,97 sec. Or something like that. But now, I've got that same spread on a different date, with a lower sec, and now the first timer was 1 minute shorter :p Now I'm hitting delay's, almost the good one. :)

Aren't you using Pikatimer? ._.

This is where my understanding of what's going on disappears...I don't understand how you can hit the perfect time every time, getting a desired delay when I can't hit the same delay twice...Is there somewhere that words it all differently to this guide?

You can't hit the same delay twice because button mashing is inconsistent. When you actually are trying to hit something, you're working with the consistency of a timer. This will help you get within a few delays every time. Btw, 1 delay = .015 second.

But you need to hit the delay head on to get what you want?

Edit: Right, I've been looking through it and I think I get some of it. If I save my game on the water outside of the pokémon league with a repel active and then change my time and reset to try catch a jolly Magikarp on the old rod, I should move/turn on the water for an increase of 1 frame each, and get it equal to the target frame minus 4 'cause I'm fishing to get the 'Karp?

Yeah.. but it's not as bad as it sounds. You can only hit either even or odd, so that means you have to be within .033 seconds. (I had the other number wrong, it was .0167) A person can react pretty fast, so you can easily come close to it. Eventually by getting in the general area, you hit it.

Right, so as long as the reset is done at the right time I should get it sooner or later. And is what I edited into the other post correct?

I think so. I haven't RNG'd for anything I have to fish for or be on the water. I mostly do legends and eggs.

When you hatch it in a different game, you are hatching it with a different ID/SID combo. Therefore if you RNGed a pokemon to be shiny for a specific ID/SID combo, it will not work if you trade it over to a game without a matching one. The game still thinks when the egg is hatching that it is in the original game, it is only after that you realize that egg is not shiny. The reverse is also true, so if you were to trade a pokemon over that would be shiny in the new game but not the original, it will appear to not be shiny when hatched in that game.

So it's impossible to trade shiny eggs, basically (unless you have 2 games with the exact same ID/SID - which is almost impossible without hacks). Well thanks for the info, Guess I'll be hatching this in the original games then XD. Hopefully trading back my egg to the original game won't cause any issues :|

Edit: Yeah, it hatched fine. Thanks again guys.

It's not impossible to have 2 games with the same ID/SID. Just RNG them both with the same ID/SID and you're good. Even though, idk why you would do that.

@Zorrioh:
You can also RNG them as if your ID / SID was that of the other game.
This will result in the Egg hatching shiny on the game it's traded to (however it would hatch regular on the first game).
Also, some ID/SID combos have the same Shiny spreads (hence why Pandora's Box in RNG Reporter will show you LOTS of ID / SID combos that match a specific PID that you enter.
So there are a few ways you can trade Shiny eggs, but in general, no, you can't.

So all I'd need to do is use the ID/SID in the RNG Reporter of the game I want them hatched in and it will be shiny regardless if the game it was made in has a different ID/SID (assuming everything else works out)?

Yup. ^_^
You can still hatch it on the game you're RNG'ing to check whether nature, ability, and gender are correct. Along with IV's. Just don't save after hatching it.

Okay this is weird. I was continually hitting 895 (I wanted 897), and every once and a while I would hit 807, even though I know I wasn't that far off. So when I decided to see what I wass really hitting and hatched the egg, I found that it had all the stuff I had specified, except it didn't turn out shiny... Has anyone else had this happen?

Sometimes two delays will have the same or close to the same seed verification. So it may just be the two delays you're looking at have the same first 10 calls as the same, when you're really hitting your real one. So you may want to RNG normally once you hit that delay.

I'm hunting for a method K shiny and my early frames are all under the same seed. Does this mean all those frames will produce the desired pokemon? Also, should I use a frame of 1, because I got frames at 1, 5, 7, 11, 12, and a few more in the 20s?

@ M0TTO:

It depends what the poke is. If it's a wild poke (i.e. in the grass, non-roamer) then you'll need to see which of those frames matches the Encounter Slot for the poke that you want to capture (in a specific area).

If it's a legendary, it would probably be easier to try for Frame 11.
10 Elm calls to verify your seed, and then encounter frame 1 for (IIRC) all standing legendaries in HGSS.
Alternatively, if it's a legendary you could wait until you are hitting delays near your target, and then just trigger the battle as soon as it starts. If the poke is shiny, you've hit your seed, if not, turn off DS and try again.

@.com

It's a stationary legendary. I was unaware that legendary encounters increased the frame by 1. Thanks for the help, hopefully I could finally get this shiny.

I'm going after HP Grass 70 Zapdos. I hit my seed twice, advanced the frame correctly and caught the Poke, but both times the Nature ended up being Impish instead of Timid. Correct IVs, just wrong nature.

I am using a synch. The seed is 54170460, and I think it's frame 95. You should be able to find it in RNGReporter.

Am I doing something wrong? I've always used a synch and never had a problem until now, and twice in a row too.

When doing IV breeding on HG, is there any way to figure out what seed I am hitting when I'm not hitting the correct one?

PID: 118991a1 (TIMID, ability 1) 30/18/31/30/31/31 (Seed: 54170460 Method 1: 110, J (synch): 99, J (no synch): None, K (synch): 95, K (no synch): None) HP GRASS 70

Impish with those IVs:
PID: 0862863458 [336E4062] | Created by Method 3 | Gender Number: 098 | Ability: 0
1 possibility

not possible in HGSS. the IVs have to be different. you're probably ending up at frame 98. 95, 101, 103, 105, 107 are all timid with those IVs, so go for any of them.

elm calls

What Method do you use when you're trying to rng abuse the Giratina/Palkia/Dialga from the event with the TRU Arceus?

method 1

I was able to RNG for some shinies (Lileep, Mudkip, Staryu) in the school's comp, but I still can't open the RNG reporter at home... And I wanna do it there...
I can't install the .Net framework either...

This might help... I don't know much about computers... T_T

no, rng reporter needs .net 2.0

I can't get the RNG reporter to open :(
I can do it in my university's comp though...

So... How could I get it to work? T_T

Looks like you already have the framework.. which is why that wont install. The RNG reporter not running must be something different. You said there were no errors, correct?
