5th Gen PRNG Help / Info - Latest: RNG Reporter 9.96.5, PPRNG 1.15.0

Taking a step counts as walking. Turning in place without moving does not.

Starting frame for wild Pokemon is 3 using C-Gear, +0 for Sweet Scent this gen.

ok and in the 4th gen guide was written that walking in a cave or field increases the frame by 1 for every step no matter how many pkm are in your party. is this still right in the 5th gen?

Not for the RNG we're abusing right now, no.

ok thanks. one very last question. i hit the delay quite well but im failing getting the right IVs for a couple of minutes already. is it important that i hit the 128 steps exactly or is any integer between 128 and 255 fine?

thanks for all your great and fast support btw ;)

For those wondering, RNG abusing on a 3DS seems to be about the same as RNG abusing on a DSi (you have to use the stylus to set the 3DS time, but like on a DSi you can hold the stylus down, and release when you're ready).

One notable exception: It takes significantly longer to go from the system menu to in-game with a 3DS. The absolute quickest I can get in-game to do a soft reset is ~32 seconds, whereas on my DS Lite I could get in game for a soft reset as quick as ~18 seconds.

Also you cannot suspend a standard DS game on a 3DS, like you can 3DS games.

My initial calibration on a 3DS with EonTimer is -39, which is very close to what my DSi XL was.

And no, you cannot play Japanese Pokemon Black on a US 3DS (although you can play Australian Pokemon Black on a Japanese 3DS, go figure).

As noted, only C-Gear RNG abusing is possible at this time.

That's good to know for whenever I get a 3DS. Thanks, Sprocket.

By the way, I agree with you earlier statement on RNG breeding. >_>;

Yes, it needs to be 128 exactly so as to not go over, because the step that actually triggers the frame advancement could be any one of those 128.

How does breeding work this gen,cause if the starting frame for eggs is 8,so if I have a target frame of 8 I.don't have to do any advancement right,also if save in front of the day care man with egg,and say I have a high frame I can hit my seed go in the house advance with the pc and run 128 steps right

8 frames for initial + 3 frames for C-gear, so as long as your starting frame is 10 you do not need to advance for egg hatching.

I've been trying to RNG a wild Frillish at Route 17, and I'm having delay problems.

The seed is ff1df7dc (delay 2729), but first I cailbrated.
I was hitting a delays around ~2670, and I hit 2672 3 times so I put 2672 in the delay hit box on Eon Timer.
The timer updated with a cailbration of -57.
After cailbrating, I try to hit my seed and I get delays of ~2735 around 8 out of 10 times.
Upon seeing this, I update my put a delay of 2735 in the Delay Hit box. It updates to a cailbration of -53.
I try to hit my seed again and I'm still hitting delays of 2734 and 2735.
Is there something wrong I'm doing?

P.S. For extra information, I'm hard reseting and my DS Mac Address is 0FED28

As far as double grass goes, am I correct to assume both Pokemon will have the same ivs?
Nope. Different IVs.

If your target frame is 8, you won't have to advance anything. I would suggest saving inside the daycare because if you press down to exit the house, hold Left, and spam A to talk to the man, you can have excellent control over the PID/Nature/Inheritance that you get. If you save outside, you seem to have less control.

Are spawn chances of pokemon or their natures effected by the date/time like their IV's are? I've been trying to get my last pokemon, a hydreigon (deino), and serebii said it has a 20% spawn chance but in 4ish hours of trying ive seen exactly 3 of them and they all had adamant nature (which is bad because it's a Special attacker, not physical)
Is this just horrible luck?

Yes to all (well, not so much encounter rates as what you get when, but it has that effect in practice). And no, you can't control them yet outside of using a Synchronizer.

Do c-gear frames work for egg abuse? Just wondering since I was looking into non-c gear abuse but it doesn't look like I understand it as well as c gear abuse. And if the spreads do work, would giving a parent an everstone effect the results at all?

Yes they do.

It affects nature and IV inheritance.

So if only one is holding an everstone it will change both the nature and IVs when I go to abuse it, even though they are determined by different RNGs?

It'll change nature and which IVs it inherits from the parents, which both run on the same RNG.

So yes.

Okay, so as long as I still go for the target IV spread I should still be okay so far as the initial IVs are before the inheritance ones are chosen. Thanks for the help.

Quick Question: I'm very familliar with hitting seeds in gen 4 btw. But is this RNG only for the japanese version? And will I need AR to RNG now? And lastly are Smogon still finding other ways to RNG eggs?

I've got a few quick questions that have me stumped after reading some posts and the main page, been awhile since ive tried rng abusing so im kinda rusty lol.

Is a lower frame better for a seed? For ex. I have 4 quintflawless options, one of them is frame 36

And im really confused for the timer, the first timer is from opening the game to continue screen and the other is for when to hit yes for C-gear but where do you find the time to put in those timers?
seed=20f2e8a year=2011
Date=2011 01 01(first one on the list) Time: 00:00:01 Delay: 1578

Thank you for your time and patience
Edit: Im going for wild capture

Ok so I want to give catching wild Pokemon a try...it's basically the same principle as with stationary legendaries right, in that you go out and save in some grass, do the reset and hit your delays and such, advance the frame if necessary using repel and walking, then just sweet scent one to you? Or I must be missing something...it can't be that easy is it?
