I dont know anyone bar two people including IAmMarti staying at the holiday Inn. I myself, probably gec, havak, kinneas, pokezak, joee and tblakey89 are probably going to stay the night at the premier inn. Whichever Inn I think we should make a day out of friday afternoon and hang out!

I might see you around the lol :)

Yeah, if I can get an early Friday train I'll be up for hanging out in the afternoon / evening :)

If I were you, I'd probably aim to get there around 2 hours before sign ups. I'll probably be getting ready to line up for Masters as early as 9am~... I don't mine queuing for ages :) I'll have friends to chill with.

The best thing about going with friends is they can hold your place in line. If someone complains, your friends can back you up that you were there first. Covering food / toilet breaks etc.

Pretty much this. I plan on getting into Birmingham at 9:15 at the latest.
Last year Kinnneas and Giant Enemy Crab were nice enough to save my spot.

considering this -- not sure if i want to embarrass myself with competing, but i might come along either way

edit: will be in masters, if i do decide to compete

I got there about 9am maybe? The line last year was pretty bad, I remember it being at least 2pm before I got to battle, maybe later. Sadly I didn't have any friends to keep me a space in line and I remember it being a painful stand. XD

So after you came up to us last year really annoyed asking to jump the queue you actually had your spot saved by Kinneas and GEC? Right ok lol.

9AM is too early, they won't even request for it by then, they will be too busy with seniors and juniors at that time I feel. Remember last year they began at 10.30AM the line for Seniors so this year it'll be approx noon.

I'll be waking up early to witness my youngest brother storm through the juniors division. :)

Just thinking maybe we get something arranged in birmingham for friday evening? maybe like find a park and have a kickabout or something?

Lol last year's waiting was a nightmare. I didn't have a teamsheet so I had to do it in the line. Overhearing whispers of "That guy's a hacker... he has a shiny latios" and "Cheater... shiny groudon, it's impossible to get that" off several nearby scrubs made it worth it however. And talking to Wichu for like nearly the whole time was great too! (Predicting Matej for seniors champ, he really deserves it)

I'll almost certainly be looking to enter again this year. Just glad it doesn't clash with the MCM May Expo again - was planning to go to London from Devon on the Thursday, then up to Birmingham for the Saturday, back to London that evening, and then back to Devon on the Monday. Would've been a fun few trips!

I'll update the OP in a few days or so when we are more sure about who is staying where, makes it easier to organise activities between those who are.

Ok cool, as someone who is going to be in Seniors this year, what time do you think I should be there by.
Oh, and would you believe that Hall 8 is actually smaller than the Pavillion?!?!

I'll be going back this year. Might be nice to know a few more people in the queue, if it takes as long as it did last year. Got into the top 64, and then fell victim to Kinneas.
Don't know whether to go Friday night, or Saturday morning. Might not be such a need to get there as early with the 512 limit for Masters.

Can anyone give me a rough estimate of how long i should set aside for the whole day? Say if I arrive at about 10:00am to sign up for Masters, how long before I start battling?

It's probably going to be quite a while after 1pm before you start battling.. If you plan to stay the whole day, you're looking at 5-6pm before it'll all be over.

Last year iirc sign-ups and starting was at the same time but got delayed immensely since the queues were so long, so we finished everything by 5:30ish. Considering there are 512 this year (so 1 extra round - mighty big one at that), I can see it definitely pushing for 6pm if not a bit later.
