Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Ok so maybe someone can shed some light on a situation I've been having today. Been trying to RNG Capture Pink Shellos at Valley Windworks(lack of NPC's is a plus) and at first it was going good. I hit my seed, advanced my frame and caught the desired shellos. Only problem was it wasn't the right one(the one I caught was supposed to be the blue one). So I said no biggie looked up a new spread and started off again. Only this time, nothing is working out.

My first seed required a frame of 10 for shellos so I did 4 journal flips and verified via coin flips. Okay hit my delay did 8 of 10 advances with the last two being done by Sweet Scent. So a Shellos appears, and I catch it and immediately check its nature. It doesn't match up, and its gender was also for frame 11. So I check the IV's and of course they are frame 11 IV's. So I say ok well frame 11 must also be a shellos encounter slot, NO its a flying squirrel(don't feel like looking its name up). So I'm really confused at this point. I check my game for roamers, all gone. I check my seed and the encounter slot, all fine. So I wrote it off as a fluke in the program and selected a new seed.

Well now here we go again, advance the frame to 20, 2 for sweet scent, bam see a shellos, check the gender its supposed to be a male get excited. Catch it and check its IV's, it has no IV's that match anything on the board. The nature matches frame 23(1 too high again), some of its IV's match frame 23, but others I have no idea where they came from. For instance it has 29 speed, frame 23 has 30 speed. The next closest Rash + 29 Spe is in the 100's.

I'm at my wits end, is this just Diamond trolling me mad hard, or did I seriously miss something.

Okay, so I finally picked up HG a while ago and just finished off Red, so it is time to start learning how to RNG. I think I might want to start on the Kanto starter from Professor Oak. Would I RNG for it just like a normal standing legendary, and do they have different starting frames?

Edit: Okay, looks like I missed the part where it says that all gift pokemon are Method 1. Does Method 1 have any major differences from Method K? Since they're not listed in the starting frame list, I'm going to guess they're frame 1?

Welp, I went in assuming I had a starting frame of 1. It looks like Charmander starts on frame 5, though. Wasted fifteen minutes advancing the first time I hit my seed, but at least I got it now.

It's been awhile since I've RNG'd a wild Pokémon in HG/SS. If I'm on my bicycle (but not moving) in the grass while on frame x, and I use Sweet Scent, the Pokémon I encounter will be on frame x+2, right?

Usually, yes.

Can you synchronize a wondercard's nature?

Only if it can have different natures. For example, the GAMESTP Pichu, was set to be Jolly. You can't RNG that differently

No. They cannot be synchronized. You can get different natures but they're controlled differently so you pretty much SR for it.

Is the formula for journal flips different for mesprit? I have no roamers present and the target frame was 114.. so I did 55 journal flips then walked 128 steps in its cave with 3 pokemon.. but the mesprit i caught was the one on frame 118 :s

Did you use Method 1?

So I've RNG'd for a shiny before and succeeded multiple times... But lately, I couldn't seem to get it right. At least never got it right with the reporter in our laptop.

Is there any chance that settings (or something like that) of the reporter in the laptop is different from the PC?

Ok i must be doing my math wrong because this time i hit 119 instead of 114.. i did 54 flips and walked 128 steps with six pokemon.. what am i doing wrong here?

(54x2)+6= 114 advances. Seeing as Mesprit starts on 5, you should advance only 109 times.

Triggz: 54 flips = 108 frames and walking 128 steps = 6
108 + 6 = 114. But where is the monster frame for mespirit in the calculation?

Your calculation should be like this:
target frame = 114
monster frame = 5
roaming pkmn = 0

target frame = monster frame + no of roamers + journal flips
114 = 5 + 0 + flips
flips = (114 - 5)/2 = 52 + 5 (this 5 is from walking 128 steps with 5 pokemon in your party)

So for frame 114 you should:
  • walk 128 steps with 5 pokemon
  • flip the journal 52 times to a page where you have captured/defeated a pokemon
Hope this helps; I couldn't have made it any simpler. :/

I got a frame of 4 for a Cobalion I'm about to RNG. So do I need 3 pokemon in my party and to walk 128 steps before talking to Cobalion?

What should I do if I'm trying to hit odd delay and sometimes I'm hitting odd (but not the right one) and sometimes I hit even delays?
I'm not scrolling through the menu, there's a game in GBA slot, year is the same in RNGReporter and in my DS(Classic if matters).
+ it's HGSS, method K no synch - trying to catch Ho-oh

I know, but it happens... So odd... I didn't have such problems with SID/ID RNG in HG...
The weirdest thing is that I want to hit 2793 and the even which I hit are 2794 and 2792...
I'm gonna smash my DS! Oh, God, I'm so fucking furious! wrrrrr...

If you are using Pikatimer, update your timer so it's odd in stead of even. Helped for me a few times.

I'm using EonTimer. I'm updating EonTimer and it's not helping at all.

Well in that case, you are supposed to hit delays like odd and even, so normally when you update the timer, you do +2 or -2. Have you tried doing -1 or +1?
