Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Some simple questions

- What's the best RNG for Emerald?
- In the Time Finder (Emerald), egg's IVs will be calculated utilizing parents' IVs?
- How can i know my SID in Emerald?
- Does a RNG for FRLG exist? lol

1) Unless your doing RNG breeds I'd stay away from 3rd gen on retail carts. I'm not even sure what you mean by your first question
2) Well it puts in A or B for that parent's IV to be inherited. I believe it just assumes that the parents have the IVs you would need to pass down.
3) Same method as 4th gen. Need to know the IVs of a caught pokemon. It would be easier to Pal Park a random pokemon and ask someone else to find out the SID though.
4) Yes. Unlike Emerald where the seed is always 0, the seed is determined when you press a button to skip the opening movie IIRC. I don't know if there's an easy method to do it on a retail cart though.

Synchronizers don't advance frames, you should put your seed into RNG Reporter and select that you are using an adamant synch.

Did that beforehand.

See what frame your spread appears on, and then calculate your advancements like so:

Target Frame-Monster Frame-Roamers= Number of advancements

It would help in the future to post the seed, game and what Pokemon you are attempting to catch.

Hmm. . . didn't even know about that formula. I never even had to apply it in my prior attempts at RNG-ing. Not sure if I know what Ho-oh's frame is, though. However, you DID remind me that Raikou and Entei are still roaming (should give you an idea what I'm playing), so thanks a million for that. :D

1) Now i can't use my DS, i have only Emerald. I have RNG version 8.31 and 9.something, there's a version better than others for that?
2) I haven't flawless parents, there's a way to obtain egg IVs without A and B?
3) I'll do that, thanks
4) Thanks, but i won't use FRLG lol

Now a really shitty question: i have a delay of 615-630... how can i hit my delay, and what does it mean?

1) You don't really need to use RNG reporter for Emerald abuse.
2) You only need the IVs in the right place depending on the spread. For example, a 31/4/31/31/31/31 poke you need parent A with 31 in SpAtk and SpDef while parent B has 31 Speed.

Delay means nothing in Emerald. Your seed will always be 0. Meaning it will always be the same. Go here for more info: http://www.smogon.com/ingame/rng/

I'll RNG without RNG? ._.

And... i said in general, i have that delays in Pearl, but i don't know what to do with fg

I know this may seem like a silly question, but I'm debating trading in my DS Lite for a 3DS. Are there any differences in RNGing on a 3DS compared to the DS Lite other than I can no longer hit standard seeds on 5th gen games? Does RNGing on gen IV change at all with a 3DS? And although I know we aren't really supposed to ask about ARs here, will an AR for a DS Lite work on a DS game in a 3DS?

-Wat

-Don't know

-Use Enciclopedia Pokemon or whatever the program is called. It's like the PokeSav of 3rd gen, checks your SID for you.

-Yeah.

- There's no best thing to do, it's what you want that's best.
- There's no Time Finder for Emerald. Your seed is always 0, just generate results.
- Enciclopedia Pokemon (save file editor) or Pal Park.
- Duh, but if you're doing it on a cart, don't do it.

There's no delay to worry about. However, the frames advance at the rate of about 60 frames per second.

Edit: For those that want to use RNG abuse for your SID on 3rd gen emulator first you need to grab an Lua script from here:
http://projectpokemon.org/forums/showthread.php?16681-Gen-3-LUA-Scripts&p=131922&viewfull=1

You'll need VBA RR to use the script though. When you run the script the seed will be displayed in a box. If you remove the last 4 digits of the seed the remaining ones make the number generated (ie. 01DBBC30 becomes 01DB, which is 475 in decimal). From there you just need to have the SID generated in a consistent amount of time (save state at the screen after you enter your name and set A to autofire). Load the save state and let it run for a little while doing nothing so you get a list of seeds generated, then load the state and enter the game as quickly as possible (using autofire). Find out how many frames it took to generate the SID from your save state by figuring out your exact SID (either the SID in pokemon summary code or by RSE decode) and looking through the the seeds that were generated by the script (copy and paste into a spreadsheet to make it easier and you can use some functions to display only the part of the seed you're looking at, which is everything but the last 4 digits). You'll need to convert the SID you got to hex to compare it to the seeds first though. From there it's just looking through the seeds for a SID you could use (searching in hex) and you advance the frames of the save state to hit that frame, taking into account the amount of frames it takes to generate the SID.

I know this isn't organized so if someone wants to reorganize it feel free to do so as I'm absolutely terrible at writing in genera;. The script was made by... I forget but Kaphotics edited it for RNG abuse (and there's a link to it in the thread with the script), and the RNG info was from here: http://www.smogon.com/ingame/rng/pid_iv_creation#what_is_a_pid.

Tomorrow i'll start on Emerald
No, i won't start...

I'm trying to abuse RNG on Pearl for IVs. I've selected all info and IVs, and i have many results. What should i do now? The guide i'm using says "Hit a delay", "Select a frame" and stuff like that, but i'm not understanding nothing, lol

Is there a "DPPT Seed Finder" on the newer RNG Reporters?
using the 9.81 right now and I can't figure out what to do

EDIT: Nevermind, it seems using "Find Seed by IV Range" works fine for looking at seconds and delay and those shenanigans

How does Sweet Scenting in Ruby/Sapphire (and I guess Emerald?) work?

I'm at frame 5330 when I select Sweet Scent and I get a PID/IV from frame 5716. When I use Sweet Scent on frame 5331, I get the same PID/IV and pokemon. Sweet Scenting on frame 5332 gives me a PID/IV on frame 5583.

This also makes it hard to find the length of the Sweet Scent animation.

It´s weird, if you check your frame at 1500, then do a +1 frame (CTRL+N, VBA) then it's possible to land at frame 1480. So a synchronizer is absolutely necessarily.

I have a question regarding Alternate Inheritance in Emerald.

I have a Lapras and a Ditto in the day care, and I currently have a Modest Water Absorb Lapras egg waiting. The Ditto has all 31's for IV's, and I know the Lapras has flawless Speed, which is all I need to know with the spread I will be hitting. I am aiming for frame 2391, which would give the baby Lapras a spread of 31/4/31/31/31/31. However, my game is currently in Alternate Inheritance mode. If I keep taking eggs and not saving, is there even a chance of getting out of alt? Or do I need to make a change to something in the game to get out?

I'm not sure but you can use RNG Reporter's main window and select Emerald Breeding (alternate inheritance) and search for 31/x/31/31/31/31, leaving the seed blank.

There is a 31/18/A/31/B/A spread at frame 9506 (2:38.14) and a spread of A/A/31/31/31/A at frame 15563 (4:19.38). Damn alternate inheritance is great for RNG breeds. There is also a 31/A/A/9/A/31 spread at frame 5622 (1:33.70). Considering that normal non-split flawless is at about 20 minutes... wow.

Yeah, but the guide says not to aim for an Alternate Inheritance spread, and I don't feel like waiting more than a minute. Maybe my game will eventually get out of it. I'll do some other stuff with Battle Frontier or something so it will save, then I'll try again.

Just wondering, do the moving pokemon in the daycare center in gen 5 affect the prng in anyway before you accept the egg? and also what does the varying boldness in natures in the prng nature represent? eg, gentle is very faint while the next nature is very bold.

I think bold means either the nature you want or everstone. You might be better off asking in the 5th gen RNG thread.
