5th Gen PRNG Help / Info - Latest: RNG Reporter 9.96.5, PPRNG 1.15.0

NPCs have nothing to do with hitting your seed (IV frame). NPCs advance the PIDRNG not the IVRNG and here's the list of areas without wandering NPCs.

So it must be that I'm doing something wrong with hitting the seed, as I'm not getting any Tynamo and I'm just hitting things like Joltik and Klink.

Hmm, I'm probably doing something so obviously wrong but I can't think of what it could be. I'm overlooking it probably.

No. Only IVs are determined by the IVRNG. Encounter slots (the Pokemon you encounter) are determined by the PIDRNG. If you're getting the wrong IVs that means you missed your seed/IV frame. If you're getting the right IVs but wrong Pokemon/nature/ability/gender that means you didn't advance the correct PID frame. Look at the list of PID frames and figure out what frame you're hitting, adjust accordingly. Note that you need IV Frame 1 to properly manipulate the PIDRNG in areas with NPCs.

I'm reattempting to find my DS parameters after a long time. I've found results that might be my parameters, though I'm not sure which (if either) are for my parameters. I found results with both the soft-reset box checked and unchecked. How do I know which to use?

EDIT: I'm unsure as to whether or not these are my parameters, as they were both 5ish seconds off the time I SRed (so I'm thinking that the results I got with the box checked are the ones I should use, though not sure)

Don't soft reset, only hard reset from the DS main menu.

Someone help before i eat my game cartridge -___-

OKay Now this is rediculous I've been trying to RNG a sigilyph for almost 2 weeks now. I got rid of the sandstorm so no problem there.

Here's the real issue. Ive tried so many seeds and every single onetrolls the **** out of me whenever i land on the PID frame for the sigilyph. It seemed everytime i landed on it with a synchronizer it would turn into a Maractus. SO i said "**** it!"

Instead i found a new seed where a PID frame for a female, flawless, timid Sigilyph with magic coat was really close to my starting frame.

No more synchro nonsense!

NOW- i hit my seed, enter the game and all and I do my 3 chatot calls, and I ALWAYS, and i mean ALWAYS hit the frame right after my desired sigilyph. It sucks too because the frame i keep hitting is a female sigilyph but with the wrong ability and nature so i have to catch it to find out. Boy does it suck to enter my PC time and time again only to be disappointed. Now you may be thinking "Thats simple to solve, just do one less chatot cry".... but i've tried that.

If i do 2 chatot calls it lands 2 frames before my target frame. I know many of you are thinking that im not entering my menu fast enough but im practically cramping my fingers up jamming on the X button when the season comes up. Also, these 2 pokemon (the wrong sigilyph, and the Darumaka 2 frames before my target frame) are consistently popping up. And they have the perfect IVs! Someone please help me -__-

Then do 4 calls, and then sweet scent...

If you aren't hitting your frame, it's because you aren't advancing enough/advanced enough.

Are you hitting your seed for sure?Like have you tried 1-2 random scents just to verify your seed?If you are capable of hitting it,it's certainly those trainers trolling you.Try waiting a split second before the two chatters(or after, just close the menu and open it quickly)and then sweet scent

Also that seed has its first timid on frame 70.How can you only need 2-3 chatters for that?

Oops kaphotics was first

Well whats happening is that my starting frame SOMEHOW is 66. I have no idea how it works but it does. Ive caught the pokemon from 1-3 chatot cries and ive comfirmed my starting frame.

However for Kaphotic's question, if you have the time to look at the seed you will see that the frame i keep hitting is the one right after my target frame (70). So i keep hitting 71 with 3 chatot calls, but with 2 calls i keep hitting 68. Its really weird whats going on.

EDIT: Also, im sure my starting frame is 66 because when i do one call i hit frame 67 consistently. Also note that im opening the menu as fast as i can

Man, this thing has given you hell. I'd definitely try what Kaphotics suggested first. If you still can't hit it, I would try saving and finding your starting frame and everything again. A new save should put the NPCs in a different starting position; hopefully one where they don't cause your starting frame to be so inconsistent. And, as a side note, I never have more than 5 pokemon in my party to save me the agony of checking my PC each time. Also, if this is still for the purpose of breeding, the ability isn't important though I can understand not wanting to give up on a target.

^^ Shit you're right. I didnt realize that the ability doesnt matter because im going to use it for breeding. Anyway, it just so happens that any females in sight just happen to have the "good" ability anyway.

But yea im definitely going to try everything you guys have said up until now. I'll let you know where everything stands in a little bit.

Yes but, understand that the "calculate my initial starting frame" button isnt 100% accurate. Theres a 1-20 frame difference in which your starting frame can vary from the reported number.

That seed plugged into rng reporter gives me a SF of 50.Are you using the "Calculate Initial PIDRNG Frame" button or determining it yourself?

And there are a lot of NPCs in the area that are advancing the frame. +15 is a lot but he said he verified it multiple times. With NPCs in the area, you have to determine it yourself.

I know it's not 100% accurate it's just that i have never been more than 5-7 frames over reporter's SF...16 frames seems too much to me but since its verified i don't know what else to say

RNG Reporter's Initial Frame Calculation is 100% accurate.

The NPCs advance it a number of times, depending on what their move counter was and the frames they consume tell them to advance.

RNG Reporter does not predict this advancement because those values are different for every time you save and what location you are in.

Well thanks for the tip about checking the location of the NPC's and resaving. I ran around the desert and saw 3 NPCs causing the problems. It turns out one of them i hadnt battle before (to my good fortune he was the one doing the most moving). I battled him and returned to my spot and saved.

Now i redid my chatot calls and I have found my starting frame (assuming i am REALLY fast at opening the menu) It turns out my starting frame is 64, but with the other 2 NPCs moving, it still takes som trial and error to confirm that. But nevertheless i am now sure that my starting frame is 64.

Now its a matter of opening up the menu at the right time, and judging how many calls i need based on how quickly i opened the menu. Ive got a long night ahead of me.

Just thought I'd keep you guys posted. FINALLY i captured my timid female flawless sigilyph. Thank you guys for the tips or for even replying. I love Smogon. Now time to breed my shiny sigi ^_^

Can some one tell me why I calibrate a Timer0 and then when put into practice I get the opposite?
For example:

I calibrate C7E. When I try and hit a seed I hit C7F consistently, so when I go and find a C7F seed, I hit C7E consistently. Is there any reasoning behind this?

Seed- 2480BF6DDBDCBDAE
Keypresses - None
Date - 3/13/11
Time - 17:30:58

I use PPRNG.

In the 3rd post, we say that many people have noticed that a keypress makes you hit your larger timer0.

I've verified this on GBA games.

If that doesn't help, try re-saving your game.

So in otherwords, if I don't have Keypresses I'll more likely hit C7E but let's say I have 1 I'd be more likely to hit C7F?

Certain ones have less of an effect (I've noticed select is one).

If you've got 3, you're more likely to hit C7F. You've got the gist of it!
