International Wi-Fi Tournament - Autumn Friendly [OVER - Rankings Released Nov. 1st]

I shall expect yet another robotic response from TPCi for the following complaint I just submitted:
To whom it may concern, I recently participated in the Autumn Friendly tournament, and while I had plenty of great matches, I was very disappointed in the fact that whenever I won many hard-fought time-consuming battles, the opponent immediately turned off their game which in effect did not increase my rating nor the matches I had participated in as well, and many of these opponents in fact had high ratings as well. I thought I read somewhere that disconnectors would get penalized, but I read on the smogon forums that someone confirmed their rating does not in fact get affected if they disconnected on a match they were about to lose.

Is TPCi addressing this issue, and any way this can be further enforced. I'm hoping that if future events where Worlds invitations are at stake, then I should fairly have my ranking count if my losing opponent did indeed disconnect at the end of the battle.

I really hate the fact there are show offs who just hack shinies or make their Pokemon powerful. Really breaks the game. Honestly, I'm already in the ranks of 1300 something and last night I fought someone at 1800! The heck?

All shinies =/= hacker, there's a way to get shinies with all 31 IVs without slapping in an AR to your cart nor use a pokesav.

Welcome to competitive Pokémon.

I love how this contest is more a matter of who's willing to endure the constant disconnects than actual skill or teambuilding.

is the tourney still going on? I couldn't get to the wifi the whole weekend because of crappy connection and a bad cold ),:

Yeah, it lasts until midnight tonight.

Got up to 1751 with 45 completed matches (didn't keep track of how many wins and losses... and DCs...) and thinking I might stop there.

I'm hoping they can tell which player has disconnected. The rules say that frequent disconnectors won't show up in the final rankings; but hopefully that won't penalise people who frequently get disconnected against.

Getting 1 point games now. This is silly, why even match me up against someone like that? Where I gain nothing if I win but lose everything if i lose?

so why did i get frozen twice by an ice beaming jellicent when playing a 1300 player?
Haha! I lost against some nob at 1600 because of 2 Bright Powder misses (easy KOs) and a paralysis and flinch off of a TBolt all from his Elektross. x)

my team is so bright powder weak

My opponent's Eelektross quick claw activates 4 times in a row, then he got free paralysis with thunderbolt + fully paralized and two min damage on his pkmn...i think this is some kind of record lol

TPCi's robotic reply to my post seen above:

^Talk about epic trollishness! lol
Then again this is trollfreak we're talking about -.-

Anyway it seems I won't be able to join any more battles so this is my ending line in the tournament. good luck to all of you who will struggle to get to the top of the board :)

I'll try to get a couple of matches more, but the wifi is disconnecting me everytime i found an opponent, right before the start of the match...

had a battle with a person from the UK. had a 2096 rating. i figured, heh if i lose, it'll put him to the 2100. and infact i did lose. a couple of fights later, run into the guy with his 2100 rating. i win!....and he disconnects. fml

Oh. My. Word.

gg Greysong...no, scratch that, super mega awesome amazing 22-minute epic hax-free (iirc) game that has to go down as the best battle I've ever played.

Thank you so much for a great match. (And ty for not dc'ing =] ) 77-63332-77046

Okay, I'm a complete programming nob and I have no idea how TPCi has everything set up, so I could be completely offbase here, but I think there could possibly be a way to tell who disconnected against whom, at least for intentional DCs. Just look at how long it took both of the people to log back on. If a person shuts off the power it will take them longer to get back on because they have to boot the game, go through menus, and then log onto wifi. Most of the times I've been DC'd against I'm already at the "seek battles" screen and can start seeking new battles. Occasionally I'll get kicked off of wifi, but even then it only takes a moment to get back on, certainly longer than it would take to boot your game, go through the menus, and then log onto wifi.

Yeah, I kinda don't care anymore. Neat concept but the dishonesty is just too rampant and the metagame is too stale so after a few matches pubstomping disconnectors then losing twice in a row to speed ties and crit hax it gets boring.
