Im guessing there's a row of pistons that pull the floor over the stairs back into the wall. The wiring is probably pretty simple; just a row of redstone behind the sandstone block to the pistons.

Nonetheless, I love that shoppe. If I'm good enough at killing Blazes for Blaze rods I may have to ask you for the rights to ownership :P

It's a cool shop Fisdunction, I don't think that would be the style I'd exactly want for spawn. Our spawn goals are to have everything open and accessible and so I love the storage chests for all the potions (I would probably have ingredients before potions), the fact the main purpose of the room is a floor beneath is a bit counter productive, it's also hidden. I'm also not sure if sandstone reflects the purpose of a potion shop. Good idea using the now defunct cauldron for decoration. I'll certainly steal that.

It's pretty simple piston wiring so I was able to hide all of it underground

Yeah I do have a tendency to prioritize form over function at times. :u

Is there a way I could get a copy of the spawn map? I'd like to try and revise another draft that would better fit in the allotted space.

Rights Guys, been a while since i posted but its cos im lazy. Cant wait for the server to be up, all i have had is Skyrim as Battlefield requires an update which my internet refuses to download....i am one of those peeps who like orginized towns that have a theme and hate randomness....whos up for building a town with me, im thinking Markath themed (Skyrim) :D

still waiting on bukkit release..

Much needed context: A destructoid reviewer gave MK7 a 5.0 for being too much the same while giving MW3 a 9.5.

Anyways this isn't the proper thread for that.

I've been busy on our soon to be released server. We have placed forks' spawn in a place (we will be restarting so everyone can join in to help with this.

here is an overhead view.

We have space but I have been very tight regardless

I have from left to right
-A furnace room with lava pit
-Potion and enchanting room, there will be a ladder going down that has more enchanting rooms with less books.
-A snowball farmer (just shovel right underneath the guys
-The door for a mushroom and flower farm (which will be behind the other two things on this list)
-A mycelium "farm" (six patches of the shroom grass which you can use the silk touch enchantment for to place it wherever you want)
-A stone generator

I suggested that a while back, I think the answer was it was just easier this way? The wiring is really simple though and not bulky at all.

what like this?

The wiring is incredibly simple, whoever said it was too hard is silly! But the pillars going around spawn are a block too narrow for the full bookcase setup to fit without it looking cramped.

Layell, sorry but that area looks really cramped and... what even is that with the snowmen? Why does the furnace thing have noteblock floor? Purple and red clash x_x and tbh it looks pretty redundant... idk

I think forks wanted the spawn facility buildings to be up against/using the walls for the castle town like how Layell's design is doing. When I think about it I'd rather we maybe a little bit of space (by making the outer wall a little bit farther away) and make the buildings have their own walls and such?

I dunno I think the stone brick walls that are assimilating into the walls is kinda dull in a way where putting random noteblock floors and lapis pieces in walls isn't going to fix. I'd much rather we pick a theme for the buildings at spawn and build them as such, preferrably a theme that wasn't stone brick everything.
how much of that made sense lol

that is so steampunk
awesome
can we close the bookcases in somehow so that the table is fully surrounded?
maybe you can drop in from a ladder or something?

also, maybe we can knock down the size of the furnace room
and make more space for the brewing/enchantment chambers?
it'd also make more room for the snow golem snowball farmer

The bookshelf can have the space to walk in it doesn't really matter because that amount with all the other sides surrounding it is the max.

Our problem with the spawn is that the pillars are way too close together. I would say half the amount of pillars or maybe not any at all because they control how our buildings are positioned too much. That enchanting table is awesome Dan, I'd probably make that its own room rather than an add on to the potion room. The problem with the snowball farmer is that they bother creepers as I discovered after some explosions. That was not very fun. We also ought to push the spawn walls further back to give us more space. A little would go a long way overall.

Also the purple and red don't clash as much on the ground. I intended a door between the two to separate the rooms. Note block floors just feel very smelting like for me and I like how they look with brick walls, I like using odd blocks to decorate buildings.

You don't really need that much room for a snowball farm, I mean the snow golem generates a patch of snow under it almost immediately as you pick it up, so it's not like you're moving anywhere (unless I'm missing some mechanic of snow farming).

And I agree, I want Squidward to teach me the secrets of free standing sand.

hello!!

i figured i would post some screens from single player because i played a little

you may remember shepherd's cottage from a while back. it has since gained a farm, an extension and a little work on the exterior and lot in general

FjkiN.png

overview woo!! going clockwise that's the newly extended shepherd's cottage, a mine, a melon patch, wheat farm, reed farm, my well, a farm with chickens and sheep (no pigs or cows in sight :(!) and you can can see the edge of the lake behind the house. also to the top left is the mega mountain i still wanna explore!!

URNMx.png

i will mine the funck out of you, mountain(s)!!

bWMhU.png

from the other side, showing off the new wing(?????) of the house and the pier. i'm yet to fish from the lake but boy am i gonna!! oh my goodness so many chickens

lBW7z.png

the path from the new entrance down to the pier. check out that fence going underwater into the mysterious depths~~~~ attn2detail

TsVKG.png

the entrance to the mine!! i actually dug into this place from a hill beyond that weirdly disembodied tree and got lost, dug straight up and out via the stair method and popped out right here. i turned around a lot really confused that the mountains were right in front of me but i couldn't see my house until i looked behind me............ lol....................... anyway i laid down some track in there because i had so much. i still haven't run a cart down but i like the idea of an old school rickety mine so like why the funck not?? also there's the beginnings of a line coming toward and behind you/me/all of us in this screen which i plan on running into the mountains just for kicks when i FINALLY go thre oh my goodness

HRCcm.png

the inside of my house

WAY TOO SPACIOUS NOW THAT I HAVE EXPANDED IT

on the plus side, it makes my second floor look a little cooler!! if i roll out of bed though it will hurt :( i did this once on the top bunk with my brother on the bottom one on holiday and the floor was stone and i made a wet THNCK sound i guess that's part of why i am the way i am today

ok bye x)

Pretty nice setup for sure, lot better than what I have. I was afraid of getting lost in Minecraft (which isn't unreasonable in the beginning considering how big the place is), so I immediately bolted for the nearest coast and set up a small (now medium) wood cabin on top of a giant...block I guess of earth (used to be a hill of sorts till I chipped away at it some monsters couldn't simply jump up), surrounded by a moat and fences (more keeping the creepy crawlies out). Almost have a railway complete to a nearby village (which spawned on top of an awesome ravine/mineshaft combo, took over 2 small houses for storing and sleeping while using the local blacksmith for crafting), and there's another mine nearby my main house as well up a few paces north. Not to mention numerous other ones lying in the ground...

Then again that was all in the 1.8 build too, been thinking of restarting to a release build so that the eyes will reliably point to a stronghold for eventual access to The End (apparently they aren't necessarily reliable in 1.8). But yeah...bumming around that till whenever release comes out, already designed a bunch of neat houses in creative I'm itching to select from to make as a home.

Ok so I put up a stable bukkit build on the server. I put up the map with that seed layell found (nothing has been changed to the map except for where spawn is so its approx. where layell spawned when he found the world)

All the plugins seem to be working as intented, same for the permissions.

So now all we need is permission by forks to release the ip to the masses

(also: whitelist is up to date , for those of you who haven't yet filled out the whitelist form : http://bit.ly/SmogcraftWhitelist )

Fuuuuu, I want the server to go up when I'm at home and can screen record... Let's immortalize breaking ground on our new territory!

Unless someone has a link to a Mac-compatible Camtasia torrent...
