I use scaling HP yellows and 9 points in defense, is that still functional? I'm really low ELO so I can't exactly depend on either team having a support or even a jungler.

ya man i guess the ... 6% increase in attack speed from yellows really will help you get in that extra harass instead of the 13 armor. you know the attack speed that you can itemize without hindering your entire build

im all for experimenting as long as its not stupid fuck shit so whatever i guess. just realize that you wont even be close to trading equally with as yellows

you will be getting in more hits so yes you will in fact be trading equal or better with as yellows.

back to your post on as yellows vs armor yellows:

armor negates all damage that scales off attack damage, including abilities which are most of the ad carry's early game harassment (Ashe's Volley, Caitlyn's Peacemaker, Graves's Buckshot) and autoattack damage. saying you will never be hit by minions is utter bullshit, if you draw aggro you will get hit as long as you're in a certain range (which you will be to get last hits and the harass off unless you're Caitlyn) and the minions have vision on you.

as yellows don't give that much as, as well as the fact that most ad carry's use their damaging ability anyway for most of their harass

yes but every1 runs armor pen reds as an ad carry. which means the armor yellows will be cancelled out anyways.
 
except unless ur a mong who runs arpen quints you will never do true damage vs Armor yellows with ARpen reds. you get 3 armor afterwards. plus masteries and shit hopeuflly you are getting +3 armor and if they have sunder then you come out even. but thats only level 1. cause you get armor every level.

and start out with armor * edit

This discussion thread is too often about how bad Jonnyrolo or Masterful is, not about League. Can we please just put them on ignore and have intelligent conversation?

Sure, I'm always willing to play with some new people. My summoner name is Radilgy, add me. I can play solo top, tank, or support. I don't play as much as I would like, but I do have a positive win/loss ratio.
 
INTELLIGENT CONVERSATION TIME: Here's a support tier list I just typed up out of boredom (using the champions I've tried in a support role so far):

Tier 1:
Sona, Soraka, Alistar, Janna, Taric, Leona, Blitzcrank

Tier 2:
Gangplank, Nunu, Maokai, Warwick, Orianna, Kayle, Heimerdinger, Cho'Gath

Tier 3:
LeBlanc, Teemo, Urgot, Rammus, Malphite, Veigar, Amumu, Volibear, Shen

Tier 4:
Morgana, Karma, Nidalee, Zilean, Swain, Ashe, Poppy, Twisted Fate, Kennen, Sion

"Still need to try" tier:
Anivia, Annie, Dr. Mundo, Fiddlesticks, Galio, Jarvan IV, Lee Sin, Lux, Pantheon, Ryze, Shaco, Twitch, (Viktor?), Vladimir, Yorick

Out of the champs I haven't been able to try yet, Lux/Galio/Yorick and maybe Shaco will most likely end up in middle/lower Tier 2, the rest probably in Tier 3 or lower. But who knows, maybe one of them will be a pleasant surprise (like Warwick or LeBlanc)

Has anyone tried and/or had any success with unconventional support champs? I like playing the support role but sometimes get bored of using the Big 5, so I try out new stuff in normals to spice things up a bit
