5th Gen PRNG Help / Info - Latest: RNG Reporter 9.96.5, PPRNG 1.15.0

I started standard seed rng with stationary legendaries (Landorus and Cobalion) with near instant success. Then I got a flawless Timid Mewtwo off the delivery guy on my first try after which I decided I was ready for breeding.

So, the first pokémon I tried to rng breed was a flawless Adamant Marvel Scale Dratini with Extremespeed. I tried and tried for the whole day without any success. The parents I used were something like 31/31/xx/xx/xx/31 and xx/xx/31/31/31/31 one with the proper nature and an everstone and the female of course having its DW ability.

I probably hit my seed once or twice during the whole day and every single time the same frame which was like 5 frames above my target. When I tried doing five less Chatot I wound up in a frame that was not in my seed, but was most of the times same. Then it went all irregular again.

I'm sorry I can't remember the exact seeds I tried and the different parent combinations I tried, but please bear with me. This is where it gets interesting.

I decided to try breeding a flawless Modest HP Grass DW Poliwag with similar parents. I got it right in less than ten tries and I knew exactly what I was doing the whole time. After that I bred a flawless HP Ice Gastly and a flawless Marill in just two or three attempts using a flawlesss Ditto as a parent.

So my problem seems to be the Dratini because I'm clearly able to breed other pokémon. I've again been trying my hand at that DW Dratini for a good ten hours at least and then I decided to try to breed a flawless Adamant male parent with ES using Ditto as a parent, but there's still absolutely no sense in the seeds I'm hitting. Almost as if Dratini would throw the Timer0 or the whole system out of sync. Also I can't find most of the results I get in any nearby seed. Timewise or timerwise. I just don't get it.

I appreciate any help I could get. Thanks guys!

I'm using a DS Lite, Black Version and the latest PPRNG.
My MAC address is 00-16-56-C2-92-67 if anyone cares.

Are you using international parents? You could be using one without being aware of it, since sometimes the names are in English (if you evolve an international Pokemon in an English game its name will change). I can't really think of what else could be wrong.

Nope, all of the parents are leftovers from previous breeds from before I first tried RNG so they've all been bred by myself.

Ok, try breeding Dratini again if you're not busy and post all the seed info/parent info here and what frame results you get, maybe we can find the problem that way :o

It doesn't make any sense that Dratini specifically would mess things up, so there must be something else. Most likely you're just getting really unlucky (it happens, I got the wrong Timer0 like 90% of the time on my last RNG when other times I've usually gotten what I wanted on the first try), so just keep trying and you'll get it eventually. Double-check that you entered everything correctly and that the parents actually have the IVs you think they do just to make sure nothing else is going wrong.
Don't use an Everstone. It's been my experience that using an Everstone actually makes it harder to RNG breed.
Agreed. Finding seeds for breeding is rarely difficult, and the Everstone just makes it harder to figure out what frame you hit.

o.O

That doesn't make any sense lol. Almost all of my 5th gen. breeds were bred with an everstone parent. How does an everstone make it harder?

Edit: Well, it might make finding the frame you hit harder, but it won't make it that much harder. There's still ability, gender, and characteristic to take into consideration. I personally like using an everstone better because I can find better seeds, but your argument is still valid, I guess.

If you're having trouble verifying your seed and your PIDRNG frame, using an Everstone throws a wrench into everything, simply because there's fewer possibilites for the offspring's nature (to help you narrow down exactly what frame you are hitting).

Usually if I'm getting the wrong Timer0, I reset my parameters to the Timer0 I am hitting the most, and go from there.

I've tried it with and without the Everstone, I've checked and double-checked all parents and I've tried checking my parametres again and again and I always get the same Timer0 C7C.

I've now been at that Dratini for several hours yesterday and some ten hours today and I just can't seem to get it. I am gonna try again tomorrow and I'll be sure to document a few tries for you.

And I guess I'll have to check all of my data again, but I doubt even I could've typo'd something on ten or so different occasions.

Thanks anyways.

Sometimes when you hold buttons, it forces certain Timer0s to occur more than others, usually higher Timer0s will happen more than lower Timer0s. This is commonly the case on a regular DS and DSLite.

Try searching for a seed with a Timer0 of C7C and the same number of held buttons as the one you found, and try again.

On a side note, I find that my DSi XL and 3DS have a much more stable Timer0 than my DSLite does.

Start the nature timer when you press A to warp to the Entralink (at the same time the first timer ends). You may be a few frames ahead of your desired frame, but just simply adjust your timer and you'll get your wanted nature with relative ease.

Didn't worked here. I'm trying to get a Timid Smoochum, the first time it was a Mild, then I adjusted the timer and got a Calm, adjusted again and got another Calm...

Do I need to put something in the target frame and lag boxes on EonTimer? When do you start your C-Gear?

Maybe I should try to get one by luck :/

Version in use: RNG Reporter 9.95

Target: Near-flawless Nidoran (F) from the Entralink

Target Seed = EB17E802, Frame 24, Delay = 4195, MAC Address = 001AE90FD793

Seed was verified by calibration

Yeah so what this essentially boils down to is that every other RNG that involves a delay, I have trouble hitting it. I'm not concerned with nature just yet, but actually hitting the IV spread. I've hit a 4194 dammit. The last two times I did Entralink abuse I had to hard reset b/c the first timer value was so low, and it worked both times.
When one soft resets (as I'm doing on this one), the delays fluctuate to a much smaller range, if at all. So, I hit 4194, and the Eontimer can no longer update. When I soft reset again, I keep hitting close to the target delay, but not exactly. Soft resets are more precise, so I feel like the timer is homing in on delays that are close instead of the actual target (FML). I tried hard resets, but those fluctuate too far away from the target. After about a dozen or so tries, this is starting to feel damn near impossible. Next time I do this, I'm not even looking at the clock, I'll just listen to the beeps...

EDIT: Forgot to ask for how to hit target dealy when I'm so close to it

Just keep trying, it's your own inconsistency. Just try to press A at exactly same moment everytime.

That's what I thought, but I posted here thinking maybe someone would pick up on something I missed or pass along some sort of technique or something. Thanks, man :)

Start your C-Gear once you've verified your standard seed (you are doing this, aren't you?). You don't need to enter those fields, since they have no effect on EonTimer's first Gen III countdown.

Yes, that's what I'm doing, but no luck yet.
I wish I had save states T_T

Apparently I had marked one of the parent Dratini with one too many full IVs and had the wrong values input to PPRNG the whole time. I feel so stupid now, but a perfect Dratini on the second try makes it all feel better. Apparently I actually have mastered RNG after all. How cool is that!

Can anyone tell me the exact memory address (in pokemon white) of the 64bit seed that shows up in RNG Reporter ( I'm talking about the seed that shows up in the DS Parameter window as well we the time finder aka target seed).
I've written an AR code which I want to use to check whether I've hit the correct seed without having to catch a pokemon and check IVs.
Also if anyone knows the address of the frame one is currently at (the one that needs to be advanced when hatching flawless shiny eggs) let me know, I don't want to have to calibrate my initial frame since I can use AR for it.

5th gen abuse is so easy that having to rely on an AR to verify your seed and advance your frame sounds just pathetic

RNG abuse on a flashcart is not as easy as you think, hitting the correct seed is harder when there is no seconds indication. Apart from that the difference between the second you start the rom and the actual second the rom uses is not always the same.
Wasting time when so many things could have gone wrong is not for me.

is any of the entralink nature abuse guides done yet.(just checking...)

Zari and Princess Emily still had theirs under construction, but out of the top of my head, Zari, Princess Emily, Princess of Johto, SpeedSuicune, and I know how to do it. If you're looking specifically for PPRNG help with Entralink abuse, I'm considering writing the guide for it (fine tuning some things).

Use a stopwatch or something to make sure you always start at the same time every time. EonTimer can be used as well by using the custom timer tab and just entering one time for a one-stage timer.

Alternatively you could do what I did and just buy the game to save yourself from all the headache.
