lol

I'm trying to make a bet with someone on who will win the Pres trophy, I want to say Pittsburgh so bad, but Chicago seems so formidable. Does anyone have any comments to this?

Also let's go Columbus!

Whacky start to the bruins devils game... Nearly the entire game the devils have been on the power play from tickytack penalties, but the bruins are up 3-0 and missed a penalty shot on another tickytack penalty... And yet a hit on krejci that i expect tp see whichever devil it was suspended for goes uncalled... This is so weird... Krejci is very lucky hes not seriously hurt...

Edit: And now volchenkov tries to hurt marchand and this time the devils succeed in injuring the bruins... If volchenkov was who took out krejci he should be seeing an enormous suspension, and if not i think the question needs to be asked why two seperate players were trying to hurt sperate bruins with no apparent provocation....

If they had fired Lowe, Tambellini and Krueger, and made MacT the coach, then introduced some outside people to fill the VP and GM spots, I'd have been perfectly okay with this. But hell, if Lowe doesn't interfere, he might turn out to be a decent GM.

And if the Oilers do somehow manage the fourth-straight first overall pick, they had better trade it for a top-2 defenseman or an all-star power forward.

That'd be Seth Jones, who unlike certain defence prospects *cough*Ryan Murray*cough* actually has offensive potential, aka potential to be a top pairing blueliner. Picking him 1st overall would actually make sense.

And trading him would make even more honestly. The oilers are plagued with enough inexperience. We need a dman like Subban, someone who's still relatively young, but has actual and viable NHL experience.

lol edmonton can only be bad for so long but this is getting kind of ridiculous.

anyway w/e LEAFSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

playoffs baby, i can see the light at the end of the tunnel

How does Ryan Murray not project as a #1/#2... have you even seen him play in the juniors?

Regardless, think MacTavish would be better suited as a coach especially after his work with the Wolves and Lowe better suited unemployed.

Also the best:

Yes I have seen Ryan Murray play. A few random times when they showed Oil Kings games and the WJC, where put out arguably the second worst performance I'd ever seen from a Canadian player (Mark Visentin being #1). A, the guy has very average puck skills for a supposed #1 and doesn't have a great outlet pass or anything, which will surely hinder him offensively at the NHL level. Secondly, while not soft, he's doesn't play very physical either. A non-physical defenceman with poor offense will rarely ever be a top pairing defenceman. Sure he positions well and has nice gap control and all, but so does Jay Bouwmeester, who as shown by his success in St Louis so far, is better when he's not the go to guy (and he actually has better offence). The meltdown at the world juniors where he was out of position/made an egregious giveaway every shift tells me he might not have a "second gear" come playoff time.

MacT would probably be better as a coach, but he spent the last few years getting a MBA, and was likely being groomed to be next GM of the Oilers the whole time. Did anyone actually think the Oilers were going to permanently fire him? We are the epitome of cronyism. I guess the only bright side out of this is based on his interview on TSN, MacT is going to be more aggressive, but Hall/RNH/Yak/Eberle are untouchable. Also Kevin Lowe made a complete fool of himself at the press conference. He essentially implied that:
1. Fans who don't play are second class fans
2. He was an outstanding GM and orchestrated "the greatest trade in Oilers history"
3. He has more Stanley Cups than everyone, therefore he knows how to run an organization
4. He's an idiot, but the fans are to blame

Yeah he was pretty terrible at the WJC. Not sure I would write him off completely.

The thing about Seth Jones is that that defenseman who are drafted #1 overall like Hamrilk, Jovanovski, Berard, Phillips and Erik Johnson all failed to develop into #1 defenseman. They all became useful players but they didnt live up to expectations.

Pretty dumb thing to say since using 1st overall is a terribly small sample size. Also obvious logical disconnect between "drafted first" and "definite fail."

Still think the WJC thing was overrated w.r.t. how Murray will do in the NHL. The thing I like about him is that he''s fairly collected with respect to playing in stressful situations. I also definitely don't think his outlet pass is as bad as you say; it's definitely above average, if not very good and he's got a good shot. He has good offensive instincts and is steady in his own zone. In my opinion, he's gonna be an excellent fit with Columbus' emerging youth and a top pairing defenseman most likely.

Also outdoor game in March in Vancouver. Guess Kesler can actually go diving in that outdoor stadium...

Holy shit... a guy from my hometown signed a contract with the New York Islanders.
Probably the first dutch guy with a NHL contract :o
