That's odd, because the Wii has sold 847 million games compared to the 360's 763 million and the PS3's 669 million.

Oh but you probably meant REAL games right? So let's knock off some of those casual games and compare;

Wii
Mario Kart Wii (33 million)
New Super Mario Bros (27 million)
Super Smash Bro Brawl (11 million)
Super Mario Galaxy (10 million)
Super Mario Galaxy 2 (7 million)

Xbox 360
Modern Warfare 3 (15 million)
Black Ops (14 million)
Modern Warfare 2 (13 million)
Black Ops 2 (12 million)
Halo 3 (11 million)

PS3
Modern Warfare 3 (12 million)
Black Ops (12 million)
Gran Turismo 5 (10 million)
Black Ops 2 (10 million)
Modern Warfare 2 (10 million)

Shiiit, seems like Nintendo did alright. Course even then I discounted a ton of games from Nintendo for being casual. Let's take out those CoDs and sports (I'm only doing this for the PS3 because the 360 list gets really depressing without its mindless shooters).

PS3
Grand Theft Auto 4 (9 million)
Uncharted 2 (6 million)
Uncharted 3 (6 million)
Metal Gear Solid 4 (5 million)
Red Dead Redemption (5 million)

Looks to me like a lot of people bought only one or two games and then nothing else for the Wii, while the other two consoles had a more varied line up and sales demographic!

I never said the Wii didn't print money dipshits. I said it had no games. Look at your own top 5 list von that doesn't show anything but Mario and Mii games. That's pathetic.

Not to discredit that list, but COD 3 was new like a couple of years ago, ditto with Halo 3. Unless CoD 4 and Black Ops 2 did that badly?

Look all that Xbox 360 and PS3 list

4 of those games are the same game repackaged with a new sticker and sold for $60.

I'd say that's more pathetic.

I don't see a single Mii game on my list. Though that's just the tip of the iceberg. Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Skyward Sword, these are all games that came out since 2010 and I'm more than willing to dust them off and play them over again. Outside of Dark Souls I can't say that about the PS3/360/PC. PS3/360 hasn't been good since Red Dead/Dead Rising 2/Bayonetta, and my PC experience in the year 2012 is one of misery and controversy.

I really don't know the last time someone said "-insert- has no games" and wasn't totally full of shit. Saturn probably.

Original xbox maybe

Not stirring anything here, but an honest question: For those of you who voted Playstation, what games were shown at E3 this year that make you want to buy a PS4?

The newest Mario, Donkey Kong, and X changed my mind from waiting for Zelda U to buying it this Christmas. And then there are XY, Dream Team, and Sonic for my 3DS.

Or was it just the black console?

Sony won because for a lot of gamers, the only two ways to game are Sony and Microsoft. Simply by selling themselves as not-xbox, sony cornered a large part of the market, even if nothing was particularly impressive.

didn't wii sports come with a wii...?

edit: mario kart wii doesn't

but that's still a bunch of sales right there

You know Mattj putting the Nintendo and comparing it to the rest is complicated, both in a good and bad way.

For starters anyone who buys a Nintendo does so for it's first party titles, anything that comes along is an extra. To say that you are buying a Nintendo console for pokemon, Mario, Zelda, etc. games is like saying I'm buying the icecream only because the cone comes with...ice cream? Yeah.

And because these first party titles can only be bought with a Nintendo console, the decision to buy the current box (Wii U) is independent from the decision to buy the rest.

For me MGS5 and Final Fantasy XV along with the promises of GT6 and possible good JPRGs was enough for me.

That being said, I will have to buy a WiiU, not that because the PS4 sucks, but because I have to get my Mario fix.

Announcement:

Miscrosoft is going to hold a press conference soon saying it is discontinuing support for XBox One and will be switching to a new console, XBox Vista.

Not really, they've taken some pretty bold/outrageous/offensive/insert word here steps that literally no other system has followed suit on.

I think that whether you think nintendo or sony won really depends on what games you prefer.... I myself prefer the nintendo games to the sony games, although they were good too.

Xbox Vista huh? Well I bet the Xbox 7 is Microsoft's next idea, if we're following ordinary Microsoft naming patterns.

Definitely Sony. They caught the hearts of a lot of people with the X1 being so shitty. Even though their conference was pretty normal/medicore.

Are you really saying that when the top four games on Xbox are all fucking Call of Duty? At least those Mario games have some variety in how they play, christ (racing, fighting, 3D platforming, 2D platforming).

We're not voting on who's the best console, we're voting on who's conference was the best. And to me (between all the 3 big conferences) it was Sony. Their console was enough for me to vote anyway, and I do admit they didn't show many decent games except Infamous and maybe Driveclub, but I know good games will be following. And I'm not buying it until the witcher 3 and thief are released, and even then I might not buy it because I can probably play them on PC. So yeah, I'm not buying a PS4 until at least a year after it's released.

I deliberately inverted Vista and the number as part of the joke. Yes, it would have been easier to tie together if they tried to name the new console XBox Vista and I could razz them with XBox 7, but unfortunately they stuck with keeping a number.

XBox 1 = 360 Times shittier than its predecessor in functionality.

@VonF I think you're narrowing it down too much by only posting the top 5, adding 6-10 for the PS3 games gives a much different impression of the console.

@vonFiedler: I really don't understand the hate for FFXII and XIII. The only explanation is that everyone's favorite part of the old games was clicking X millions and millions of times. I could see maybe being turned off by XII's combat at first since it was such a huge shift but it seriously removed so much tedious and mindless X pushing. And XII had the best open world and the awesome bounty missions. XIII being as linear as it is is a huge and legitimate complaint but it has hands down the best combat of any non-Tactics FF. Combat in XIII requires actualy strategy and for you to pay attention instead of just "pick strongest attack. Pound X. Forever." They finally made buffs and debuffs awesome. You automatically heal after battles and there is no MP so the game doesn't become a tedious exercise of stockpiling items. And people complain about the removal of towns in XIII? Really? You enjoy pressing X on every nook and cranny looking for Phoenix Down?

Six was a bit better than seven which was better than eight but the non-MMO FFs have been steadily getting better imo.
