Slowbro's ice beam barely did half to Gogoat, but Mega Ampharos's Dragon Pulse did more than 3/4 and it wasn't even a critical hit????? We need calculation on this. Plus Shedinja's shadow claw on Mega Ampharos.

If any of you want to do some detective work, that Rhypherior and Slowbro both seemed to have 0 hp IVs (175 & 155, respectively). Only Ampharos seemed to have a flawless HP stat and ~100 evs (178 hp) invested as well.

I wouldn't look too much into Blaziken OHKOing Rhypherior because that could very well be the result of the fight being "rigged". But still, interesting to demonstrate special attacks on it after an Attack boost was mentioned instead.

So I did some calcs

+2 252+ SpA Blaziken Overheat vs. 248 HP / 244 SpD Rhyperior: 254-299 (58.66 - 69.05%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (that assumes max IVs)

However...
+2 252+ SpA Blaziken Overheat vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Rhyperior: 360-423 (97.03 - 114.01%) -- 81.25% chance to OHKO (max IVs)
+2 252+ SpA Blaziken Overheat vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Rhyperior: 456-537 (134.11 - 157.94%) -- guaranteed OHKO (Min IVs for Rhyperior)
+2 0 SpA Blaziken Overheat vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Rhyperior: 294-346 (86.47 - 101.76%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO (min IVs for everyone)

So...

edit:

Not to mention this special move was the first move we saw MegaBlaziken using. GF wants us to link MegaBlaziken and Overheat in our minds

I think +2 Overheat ohkoing Rhyperior is more a testament to Rhyperior's...
Base Special Defense: 55
...lacking special defenses.

Rhpyerior has massive HP though, it's capable of surviving, for example a max attack modest zapdos' HP grass after solid rock, with decent, but not overkill investment in HP and Sdef. HP grass on rhyperior after solid rock hits with a base power of 210, and overheat on rhyperior after STAB is hitting with a base power of 105. Now of course, rhyperior's sdef could have been univested, and had crap IVs, BUT this has to PROVE that blazekin's mega evolution is INCREDIBLY strong regardless. It was using a move with half the power a pokemon with 125 base SATK and max investment positive nature cant OHKO, and can not be holding a choice item, or power boosting item as this is taken up by the mega evolution stone. That's VERY strong.

for reference, SPECS reshiram, MAX satk, positive nature blue flare has a 0% chance of KO'ing a completely uninvested rhyperior. This is insane, was it a crit? Was some kind of boosting move used on blaziken? I thought it just had its satk drop after Ko'ing pangoro was reset.

Topsy-turvy turned the -2 from overheat into a +2, a la contrary

I guess Malamar is just used for Topsy Turvy gimmick. I wonder if it's the only one to get it. On another note, not sure of Thunder was shown before, but man the animation looks sweeeeet! I'm kinda "eh" about Overheat. The animation itself is kinda cool, it's just unfitting for, you know, Overheat.

Oh and after Gogoat thawed, what was that seed like animation? was it a berry or what exactly?

Thunder's animation was...amazing. It's like I'm living in a fantasy world where I can have reasonably-paced battles AND amazing attack animations. Although, as amazing as they are, I hope they can still be turned off for post-game training and stuff. Then again, battling hundreds of Pokemon for EV training is most likely a thing of the past because of Super Training.

13 days, 2 hours, 45 minutes until X & Y, Gardevoirs and Gallades.

OH. MY. WHISKERS. I'm even more pumped.

Also, from now on, Avril Levine's "Girlfriend" will give me the mental image of Blaziken melting a panda's face off Raiders of the Lost Ark style.

Oh and after Gogoat thawed, what was that seed like animation? was it a berry or what exactly?

That was a Lum Berry (ラムのみ).

You can Megavolve, if and only if, your opponent can too.
Uhhhh no
Not at all

I assume you're completely misreading this?
It proved that you can have a Mega Evolution in combat if your opponent also has one, with this footage being the first showcase of two Mega Evolutions being seen in battle, as seen in this battle where Mega Ampharos was used against Mega Blaziken confirming that it is one per trainer, not one per battle.

Because this is actually saying you can mega evolve even if another trainer has mega evolved

It means you can Megavolve, if and only if, your opponent can as well. Meaning, if your opponent cannot Megavolve, you cannot as well. This is confirmed from Serebii.
This is not correct. The information on Serebii is poorly worded, but it says the following: both players may have a mega Pokémon on their teams.
Previously, it was unclear if you could have one mega Pokémon per battle (i.e. one between both players' teams) or one mega Pokémon per team.

No it doesnt. Thats what its said:
''During the final episode of Pokémon Smash, it was finally fully showcased how Mega Evolutions work in battle, answering a question that has been in place in some parts of the fandom since the revelation. It proved that you CAN have a Mega Evolution in combat if your opponent also has one, with this footage being the first showcase of two Mega Evolutions being seen in battle, as seen in this battle where Mega Ampharos was used against Mega Blaziken confirming that it is one per trainer, not one per battle.''

''Can'', not ''must''.
Edit: Mega Ninjaed.
