Battle Maison Discussion & Records

use sucker punch it can be unreliable but using it for more then just ghosts it has saved me many times with its priority

BWAHAHAHAHA I FINALLY GOT TO NITA AND BEAT HER!!!!!!!1!!!!!!shift+1!!!!

Anyway, now that I've come down a bit from that euphoric high, it turns out switching in MixMence for Delphox was the best decision I've made.

Salamence "Smaug" @ Life Orb
Intimidate
64 Attack/192 Sp. Attack/252 Speed
Draco Meteor
Dragon Claw
Earthquake
Flamethrower

Lucario "Wrath" @ Lucarionite
Steadfast/Adaptability
4 HP/252 Attack/252 Speed
Bullet Punch
Close Combat
Extreme Speed
Swords Dance

Azumarill "Dorothea" @ Choice Band
Huge Power
192 HP/252 Attack/64 Speed
Aqua Jet
Play Rough
Superpower
Waterfall

I opted for Flamethrower over Fire Blast so I wouldn't have to deal with any misses ruining my fun. I only lost once to a Veteran with a Raikou that ruined my shit before I finally made it to the 50th battle. Smaug wrecked the kami so badly that I didn't even need to bring in Wrath.

She opened by sending in Thundurus. Since I went with Dorothea on the off chance that she sent in Tornadus first, I immediately switched in Smaug to Intimidate and sponge the Wild Charge, which took about 35% of his HP. Thundurus attacked again and sent me down to about 33% HP, and Smaug responded by sending him packing with a Draco Meteor.

Next, she sent in Tornadus. Knowing that Tornadus' Defense is rather poor and with my Special Attack halved, I opted for Dragon Claw, which took her down to half health. However, I lucked out; Tornadus' Hurricane missed, which allowed me to get a clean KO with Dragon Claw on the next turn. Even if she had hit, Mega Lucario would probably have been able to mop it up with Bullet Punch.

Smaug had only 3 HP left, so I decided to let Landorus finish him so I could bring in Dorothea safely. After Landorus locked himself into Extrasensory, Dorothea was able to 2HKO him with Aqua Jet to get the win.

One down, four to go.

currently training up a few pokes for use in the batt,e maison and competitive ive decided to try mega garchomp on my team until I finish my X version and can get tyranitarite.
btw a bit off topic but I keep seeing people say they are posting videos but all I see is a sequence of numbers and letters with a bunch of w in the middle. how would I view these videos?
You should have obtained a Vs. Recorder post E4. Go to the Vs. Recorder, be connected to the internet, and then go to the option that says "search by code" or something like that. Type in the codes that various members (including me lol) have posted here and then you can view the videos.

I'm currently breeding a Gengar and a Garchomp to team up with my Zard Y (Super Rotation Battle)...
My new team - Gengar Garchomp Zard Y (lead) and I'm still undecided on who will be in the last slot...

Any suggestions and are those three good enough?

Scrappy Kangaskhan can easily get you to 50+ wins by itself. I go to a 60sh win streak with early bird and the only thing that I struggled with was lead ghosts like Drifbling/Trevanan/gourgeist. I changed to Scrappy and am now at 84 wins using it with Azumarill and Talonflame.

She sounds better than mMawile performance wise, is that true? Both have priority and excellent abilities though.

MMawile vs. MKangaskhan (In the Battle Maison at least)

MMawile
Pros:
-HUGE POWER
-Great typing, two immunities (Poison, Dragon), a plethora of resistances (Rock, Dark, Normal, Bug, Grass, Ice, Flying, Psychic)
-Swords Dance + Sucker Punch = death for most enemies
-Versatile moveset (can run any combination of Iron Head, Brick Break, Stone Edge, Play Rough though Sucker Punch and Swords Dance are a must)
-Intimidate before Mega Evolving allows greater bulk for it and teammates
-Doesn't really care about Paralysis (Slow as hell to begin with, and you should be killing things with Sucker Punch) or Burn (just SD some more)

Cons:
-Weak to the common Fire/Ground attacks
-Slow as hell if you're not using Sucker Punch, susceptible to taunts preventing Swords Dance
-Weak to Confusion (Huge Power is not helping you here).

MKangaskhan
Pros:
-Parental Bond is great for breaking Sashes and killing Sturdy users
-Only one weakness (Fighting) and immunity to Ghost
-Can run Power up Punch for an easy +2
-Priority in the form of Fake Out and Sucker Punch can easily dispatch threats
-High speed and bulk allowing it to outspeed a majority of threats and take hits like a champ

Cons:
-Limited Coverage (usually runs Fake Out, Return, Sucker Punch, Earthquake, or Power up Punch leaving it walled by Levitate Ghosts like Gengar after Mega Evolving)
-Normal STAB means no STAB SE hits
-No resistances
-Hates Paralysis and Burn

tl,dr: Each has their merits. It just depends on the rest of your team to cover for their weaknesses.

EDIT: Ok for some reason I've double posted...
Anyway, would Azumarill be a good choice?

If you're running Drought Charizard Y, then bear in mind that if Drought is still around Azumarill's Aqua Jets will do pitiful damage.

Yes, Azumarill won't switch in until one of my Pokes dies. So Drought would most likely end when that happens. But I'm lookiing for better options
Zard Y and Garchomp seems to cover each other's weaknesses and they both wreak havoc, so I will definitely try them out.

So currently trying to do Super Multi Battles.

And I realize that all of my potential teammates are running slow Pokemon, or fast pokemon that aren't immune to Earthquake.

I mean seriously, the best partner that I've found was one running a Physical Greninja with King's Rock and a Claydol with Luminous Moss and for some reason it has Ally Switch. What the heck is the point of that move? Seriously. I'd love to have someone running a Gengar, but noooo. About a good quarter of my potential teammates are running Dewgong, Elektross, or Quagsire.

Edit: Started trying with another partner that had Trick Room Cofagrigus and Emboar. Great with my MMawile and Gyarados! Or so I thought... one battle my ally Cofagrigus Will o Wisp'd my MMawile! WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?! I have the battle saved if anyone wants to look at it and tell me the heck why.

Sounds pretty trash.

Does anyone know if the teammate associated with your Friend Code is static through everyone's game? I assume it is, like the Safari, but you can never be too sure.
If it is, we could start a doc with it like for the Friend Safari.

I got to match 35 with Aegi, greninja, and megazard X

Aegislash has sacred sword, shadow sneak, SD, and king's shield with leftovers
Greninja had Hydro Pump, ice beam, dark pulse, and uturn with LO
Megazard X has DD, flare blitz, EQ, and outrage (DD and outrage comes from dratini line)

It doesn't really matter anyway because aegi fucks with the AI a lot. Very easy to get +6 then sweep. I lost to a Slaking and Azumarill due to a misclick >.>

EDIT: I actually kinda want to switch out greninja tho because He keeps barely missing OHKOs and I feel like I need a bulkier water type. Any suggestions?

Decided not to run with that Cofagrigus teammate.

Trick room is great and all... but MUMMY. IT'S EVERYWHERE. Usually an enemy hits Cofagrigus, gets Mummy, and then my MMawile hits that dude SHE GETS MUMMY AND THAT'S A NO GO. Was gonna run Azumarill instead of Gyarados to further abuse Trick Room but LOL HUGE POWER? MORE LIKE MUMMY.

...This is starting to piss me off more than Rotation Battles. I need better teammates.

Edit: Maybe I'll try and get a MegaZard X. Who knows, at least it'll be better than MMawile who is amazing in Singles but relies on its teammate heavily in Doubles. Or MKangaskhan which is the same thing. And lord knows the AI partners can't be depended upon.

Edit: Didn't realize someone had already mentioned Durant in the thread. I used the search feature earlier and swear it didn't come up with anything. Ah, well.

Haven't done much in the Battle Maison, but how's the AI like in regards to switching? I remember reading that back in B/W you could easily abuse the lack of switching with something like:

Durant @Choice Scarf/Focus Sash
Jolly
Truant
4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
-Entertainment
-Thunder Wave
-Bite/Rock Slide
-Endeavor (if sashed)/Rock Slide/Bite

Hit something off the bat with Entertainment and then switch off to your stat-up sweeper of choice (with Protect, of course).

Haven't tried Durant yet, but the matches I've played show an apparent increase in U-Turn, Protect, Fake Out and more. Anyway I think the OP should be updated with records sometime soon.

Actually, screw MegaZard, I've never had any good luck with Fire Types. I might actually use MBlastoise. The only problem is, who to pair with him? I'm thinking Blaziken, but Blaziken's recoil and poor defenses are making me nervous. If only I could have MBlastoise and MegaZard X on the same team...

Uhh Kangaskhan is superior to Megamawile because it deals damage while boosting so it doesnt have to use swords dance. Fake out is not the move you want lol

Return
Earthquake (or Bulldoze) not sure if bulldoze hits twice in singles. I know in doubles it only hit my opponents once each
Sucker Punch - you need priority to take out faster ghosts and to take less damage overall. kanga is fast, but not fast enough
power up punch - helps you sweep with sucker punch

Megamawile also has a lot of weaknesses that maison users can take advantage of, while kangakhan only has a fighting weakness. it is easy to forecast when a pokemon will use the fighting move on kanga and you can make a move appropriately. intimidate is useful but it only works once and the attack difference doesn't matter because of power punch and kangaskhan's superior speed and better coverage. Return is way better than both iron head and playrough.

"Lot of weaknesses" being two. Only one more than MKanga. Different strokes for different folks, dude. Mawile's got good coverage, intimidate can be recycled until you megaevolve, and it can Swords Dance to get the same +2, but it doesn't rely on hitting to get the boost. Kanga has to hit to boost, meaning anything from a Ghost-type to Protect to King's Shield (ouch) can keep it from boosting. Don't completely trash a perfectly good Pokemon just because you prefer another.

Hey all I am new here, just wanted to get in on all the war stories and info!
I really want to make a team around mega charizard y I also would like to have garchomp as well but I don`t know what a good third would be any tips would be appreciated.
my charizard`s set up is:
HereticDragn Charizardite y. its shiny and I wanted a more sinister nickname cause it is black instead of orange.
IVs:?/?/31/27/31/31
EVs: 4sp.def 252sp.atk and 252 speed
focus blast (mostly unused except for Ttar)
air slash (for stab and fighting types who run stone edge)
solar beam (OMG this move with drought is very nice. the water types don`t smash charizard as bad go go drought!)
flamethrower (my other stab I chose it for the 100% acc. and it gets boosted by drought)

for garchomp I am thinking adamant C scarf or jolly C band I am not sure which I to run.
I plan on going with 252 EVs in attack and speed regardless.
so its set will be.
garchomp@CB or CS
adamant or jolly
EVS: 252 in speed and attack
eq
outrage/dragon claw
poison jab? for fairy types
????

thats what I am thinking any tips or suggestions on these two as well as a good third would be greatly appreciated thanks!!

It depends on what type of battle you're facing. In Doubles, which is where I use both of them, you need Fake Out on MKangaskhan to support a teammate. For example, I'd use MKangaskhan with Aegislash. I'd Fake Out a mon I know who would be threatening Aegislash, and let it get a free Swords Dance. MMawile also hits far harder than MKangakshan after a single Swords Dance; you can OHKO the majority of enemies with a +2 Sucker Punch while MKangaskhan can't. MMawile has better coverage moves (Steel, Fairy, Dark, Rock, Fighting), while Mkangaskhan is walled by Ghosts, particularly Gengar. Intimidate is a far better ability most of the time than Scrappy, allowing MMawile to get a cushion to SD and then wreck the enemy team. The list goes on and on. Also, Bulldoze does hit twice in singles, but why use it? What's the point of getting an enemy to -2 Spe when you could just OHKO them?

This is not saying MKangaskhan is worse than MMawile; I've use both and they have descended upon the enemies of the Battle Maison like gods. They wreck everything. For an example of MKangaskhan's good point, Parental Bond allows you to kill Sashers and Sturdy Mons while MMawile can't. It just depends on what kind of battle you're in, and what your team composition is. If you use MMawile, get teammates that resist Fire/Ground. If you get MKangakshan, get Ghost teammates.

Juts got home.

Super Multi Battle Boss: RU8W-WWWW-WWW2-MXWF
Eruption Scarflosion did the job LOL.

My stupid loss at Super Rotation Battle #47: BPAW-WWWW-WWW2-MXXZ
Crit Hax and some bad decisions on my part.

Super Rotation Veteran Battles (Legends):
CXXW-WWWW-WWW2-MWV4
5PMG-WWWW-WWW2-MX6Z

I guess I'll finish breeding tomorrow. I'm currently at 36th battle again. Stopped there for my new team. This Super Rotation battle is freakin time consuming. DAMN.

OMG! There was absolutely no way I should have won that battle...heck I given up hope but then my Aegislash got a clutch Critical Hit and KOed that Flygon!

Lost at singles 49 with Cloyster, Garchomp, and Mega Blastoise...

My team was Leaf Stormed to death. But not after his Blastoise spammed Yawn for 10 straight turns, then when switching to Cloyster, randomly uses Focus Punch.

yea i was talking only about singles. fake out kanga can definitely be useful in doubles.

i still stand by the fact that kangaskhan is superior to mawile.

Wow, that sucks, but uh...if you're not just guessing that number, he didn't "randomly" use Focus Punch. He just ran out of Yawns.

In other news, Super Triples will be a chore. Frame drops and lag galore.
