(Little) Things that annoy you in Pokémon

Well, they abandoned seasons and dynamic music after Gen. V, Gen. III had no day/night cycle, they abandoned the Vs. Seeker and Secret Bases after Gen. IV, the Diving mechanic has stayed pretty unused since RSE (save for that one, optional area in Unova), and walking Pokémon haven't been seen since HGSS. Making awesomely popular features in one generation and then dumping them completely in the next isn't exactly unheard of from GameFreak.

I wonder if it's possible to have a Pokemon game that has ALL of the features?

Hardly. That would make it a lot harder to sell the next game in the franchise over it. If the bar is raised a little in all areas for every game, each new game would need some spectacular new feature to be worth a purchase over the previous one. There's a reason why there are no gym leader rematches in XY, for instance. They save some features for future games to use as selling points. It also allows for greater focus on every new feature between generations, and helps combat "scope creep" where games are being required to do more and more stuff, further deviating the design focus away from their core purpose. Also, some things like seasons would be pretty pointless unless the game is specifically designed around them. Removing them might give the designers more freedom to do whatever they want with the new regions.

At best, we can hope for some fan-made games to use all the features, as sales and such isn't important for them. Pokémon Omicron/Zeta, for instance, incorporates as many features as the game engine (and the skill level of the designers) allows, and they do many things better than the official games. Only problem is, those games run on GBA graphics.

To be fair, the seasons were pretty pointless when the difference boiled down to winter/not winter. Outside of two gimmicks in B2/W2. (Deerling/Sawsbuck season forms and N's weather teams)

And perhaps as an add on - It wouldn't make much sense to have seasons in XY and ORAS anyways in my opinion. Kalos seems like an overall warm region with a few cold parts to the east, and Hoenn is literally the definition of tropical, so season changes wouldn't be too dynamic or important there.

What annoys me most is that I have begun to question whether Absol has fur....or feathers.
PS: I am also annoyed that Jynx and Mr. Mime still exist. :(

It's fur.

And what made you think they would remove them, or any Pokemon? I'm sorry you don't like them but once a Pokemon is introduced it's not going anywhere. Who know, maybe you'll like Mega Mr. Mime and Mega Jynx.

I concur. Especially since I didn't like how Blaziken looked but I actually do like how Mega Blaziken looks (still love Infernape more).

I feel the in-game story was abysmally patronizing compared to BW. Nintendo doesn't understand that their entire audience isn't 5 years old. I'll never buy the other game and never restart my current one. It was that bad.

I felt like it was more rushed than anything, they pretty much said so themselves with this being their first 3D game and their first worldwide release game. You can sort of tell they wanted to do more with Team Flare, but due to time constraint they had to squish their story resulting in a complicated character like Lysandre leading a batch of fashion model snobs and then there's this 4 science chicks who were... there... and this creepy white skinned science guy who was... there, and then had some after story character added to him...

Not to mention the postgame stuff were lacking (though paired versions always didn't have much for you to do postgame) and there was way more old Pokemon compared to new Pokemon (though whether them decreasing the amount of new Pokemon is a good or bad thing is up to debate, however the lack of at least a lesser Legendary Trio is notable considering they still added a Legendary Trio, the Legendary Birds).

I don't think that this is really specific to Gen 6, but it'd be nice if they'd allow one to use event Pokemon at battle facilities! Truth be told, it honestly gets boring utilizing them outside of, and it'd really be interesting to see them shine in battle there.

Nah, same reason they don't let the likes of box legends there - too powerful. It'd be pretty boring if you just smashed through with the likes of Meloetta and Phione, eh?

Not entirely! o: At least not in Battle Institute where they use Pokemon like Landorus, (possibly, haven't encountered any) Latis, Regis, etc. Y'know, I suppose there, it would only make sense to use box/event legends. ._.;

Was just joking anyhow; phione's awful and has no reason to exist

realtalk I think the reason moreso lies in VGC than anything they follow the same rules for VGC, battle institutes etc. to keep it simple and streamlined. I'd guess they don't use events in VGC because... I dunno, makes people jealous?

Event Legendaries In Facilities:
I don't see the problem of the game having an option of letting us use Event Legendaries, especially if that also means the computer can use Event Legendaries. I mean if the Psuedo-Legendaries are allowed, why not Legendaries who also have 600 BST?
The same goes for Mascot Legendaries, especially now that Pokemon can Mega Evolve many get a BST over or even to 680.

NEW ANNOYANCE: Sky Battles:

So anyone else find Sky Battles very selective on what Pokemon they allow? Overall Sky Battles sounded like a neat idea BUT didn't quite meet expectations (there's only 9 in the games and after you do them you can't do anymore, not even in the Battle Maison! What was the point of including them?), but not only that it also restricts a few Pokemon which it has no reason to restrict. Well, there is a REASON, but it's rather lazy one.

1. Basically the Flying-type and Levitating Pokemon they don't allow have their animation standing on the ground and not actively flying/levitating. This basically restricts the first stage evolutions of Flying-types (and Doduo & Dodrio, but that makes sense. Also Hawlucha) which I guess isn't that big of a deal, but there are still a few odd restrictions: Farfetch'd, Gengar (even though Gastly and Haunter are allowed...), Delibird, Chatot, and Shaymin Sky Forme. Also, though they restrict some first stages, the allow others like Zubat, Ledyba, Hoppip, Wingull, and Swablu.

2. Also, just because it's not a Flying-type or doesn't have Levitate it can't participate even though it can fly? Beedrill, Venomoth, Magnemite family, Dragonair, Mewtwo, Mew, Heracross, Celebi, Dustox, Shedinja, Castform, Shuppet, Jirachi, Deoxys, Spiritomb, Dusknoir, Dialga, Palkia, Darkrai, non-Flying Arceus, Victini, Yamask family, Solosis family, Vanillite family, Elgyem family, Litwik family, Golurk, Volcarona, Reshiram, Zekrom, Meloetta, Genesect, and I'm sure a batch of others I missed/skipped over.

3. And just to end it, how about some allowed Pokemon that don't make sense? The Hoppip family more glide on the wind rather then fly, same for the Gligar family. Mantine family don't fly but can glide for a short while after jumping out of the water. Finally Lunastone, Solrock, the Claydol family, Chingling, the Bronzor family, Carnivine, and the Tynamo family may have Levitate but can they really levitate that high?

And Sky Battles completely overshadowed a MUCH more interesting concept: Inverse Battles! THAT'S an awesome idea for a type of battling. And GameFreak must have realized as the trainer who does Inverse Battles can be battled once per day and uses teams from the Battle Maison.

Am I saying Sky Battles are completely pointless? No, if worked with a bit more I think it can be made into a very unique battling style. However it not only needs to be redone but also need to be made available in the Battle Facility. Along with Inverse Battles.

On that note, I'd adore if they included modes like Inverse and heck even some battle frontier-esque modes on Wi-Fi battling to make it more interesting.

I honestly don't see why they don't.

Say, do you think there would be a way to have Horde Battles made into a battle type? Like maybe you have a Pokemon who's level 50 and go up against an opponent's 5 Pokemon who are level 25. Or you use five Level 25 Pokemon and face your opponent's single Level 50 Pokemon?

As a final note on Sky Battles, being Hoenn's theme is Land VS. Sea maybe they can include a Grounded Battle and Dive Battle. Grounded Battles you can only use Pokemon who are touching the ground and for Dive Battles you can only use Water-types and Pokemon that live in the water.

A better concept for that would perhaps be 'small cave' battles, where you can only use Pokémon that would fit inside an enclosed area. No Wailord for you.

I honestly can't think of a good way they could do Horde Battles really. Keep it to wild/grunts imo.

Cave Battles, I guess that could work, though it doesn't really relate to the land theme.
