Little things you like about Pokémon

I really like how with the Secret Base Pals you can get the evolution stones. Makes it a lot easier than trying to catch loads of Lunatone/Solrock, or trying to find one my guidebook says is somewhere without actually saying where on Route ???.
That would be good if I could get something other than Everstones. I have about 10 of them in Alpha Sapphire thanks to that.

When they announced they were releasing Red & Blue on the eShop I'll admit I was a little skeptical, like I felt it was just a cash grab. Then they do this:

Plus they're not only coming with a serial code to get Mew for the Gen VI games but also a ticket to get Mew in these visions of Red & Blue (you'll also get a serial code if you buy it from the sShop (though doesn't mention anything about the ticket for those games so that might be a 2Ds exclusive))!
Sweet, I can get a 3DS with some of the worst Pokémon sprites to ever exist on it! (The wallpaper of those 2DSes are pretty sweet, though).

Only 10? I got like 150 of them so far and I'm certain I'm not the worst. I also got about 100 Escape Ropes. I do admit that they are great because, even though I don't use stones all the time, they ARE much easier than using Super Training to try to get the rarer stones.

The sheer amount of detail placed in Hoopa's design in order to reference the Djinns right down to its odd defensive stats. Thought it's bad defense stat of 60 was to balance it, but was bored and looked up on the lore and found out it was common for them to be bested by rather mundane means such as being bopped on the head by large rocks. The fact they were essentially elemental beings explains their abnormally high special defense.

I like how they are releasing special 2DS for the upcominb RBGY games.
It shows that they are catering to those who don't own a 3DS/ 2DS yet, which are a lot of people.
It also gives them chance to use the leftover parts that otherwise wouldn't sell.

I'm beginning to think someone at the Pokemon Company has a Machoke fetish:

I think this is just the Machop line's time to shine recently...

The quarterly Pokemon TCG tins typically feature either legendary Pokemon, starters, or the "big" Pokemon from the recent sets. For the spring tins, we have Mewtwo (Alright it is Mewtwo), Shiny Gyarados (well, it is the focus Pokemon of the set that comes out before it), and...Machamp. No good reason why we got Machamp aside from making it the year of the Machop line.

HOLY ARCEUS! WHAT THE FARFETCH'D WAS THAT!!!???

I think it was a commercial for the company that your family hired to move into their home in Littleroot Town in Gen III.

Hey, an odd thing I noticed. They specifically included an English name (Machoke Movers) since Machoke's Japanese name is Goriky. Was this suppose to get translated into English like the Slowpoke song was?

EDIT: Oh. my. Arceus... they made a parody site for Machoke Movers including box stickers to stick on the moving boxes...

This is my new favorite thing now.

The Slowpoke label is my new favorite thing.
"Hello...is it me you're looking for?"

Since they are both Daisuki club events it is highly likely that it will be translated.

Omg those stickers are so funny.
Th inkay one says do not put this up side down.
Stunfisk one says do not step on it.

Though I don't speak Japanese I think I can tell what most of the stickers are saying:

Cracked Pokeball: Breakables inside
Chansey: Handle with care?
Umbrella Slowpoke: Draw me like your Kalos girls Keep dry
Inkay: This side up
Pawniard X: Don't open with a blade?
Stunfisk: Don't step on
Vanillite: Keep cold

Can someone translate what's being said in the commercial? I'm curious what's being said at certain parts (like when the Machoke are menacingly billing the couple).

Pawniard one says be careful when using a cutter.

Menacing billing image bit says "Estimates, smiles, and moves"

Similar to one of my previous posts about Unova's subtle musical differences based on the season, I love how each Gym has its own music in Black 2 and White 2. It just injects them with a bunch of character, plus each track is really, really, really good.

Especially Elesa's. Give me what I need.

I just now noticed her theme plays a bit of "Dancer In The Street" from The World Ends With You. Now I am finding myself enjoying the song even more.

*Notes to self to do another run of BW2*

While on the subject, making the Unova gym leaders do other things to establish their characterization to the point most of them clearly have a day job other than "fight trainers as a test" is amazing. Makes them feel like actual human beings!

Unova Gym Leaders are my favorite group of Gym Leaders as I don't think there's one who didn't appear outside of their Gym or had some small part in the story (at least in Black & White).

As for the music, not only did each Gym have its own theme but the themes were creative remixes of the Gym's theme with each giving the Gym its own feel.

Aspertia Gym: The original theme from Black & White. Would make sense for not only the the Normal-type Gym to use the plain theme used in the previous game but since its the first Gym it provides to familiarity going from BW to BW2. Also being Cheren is a new Gym Leader he probably hasn't really got into his own groove yet, you can even see the Gym isn't completely built yet so there's no theme to it yet.

Virbank Gym: OH MY ARCEUS! VOICE ACTING! Yes, one of the themes that probably stands out the most, at least at first. Not only is it a rocking tune to match Roxie rocker attitude but the voice "singing" also sort of helps elevate BW2 from other Pokemon games in general. I joked about it but the presence of actual voices is a first in Pokemon I think, in addition the voice is suppose to be the Gym Leader's (plus her back-up band). Another neat touch about this music is that it's dynamic, it loses layers to it as you defeat the band members until its just Roxie singing and playing on her bass. Makes it feel they're actually playing the music instead of it being something the player hears but not the in-game characters.

Castelia Gym: This theme actually sends shivers down my spine, but in a good way. Its creepy and ambient tone really fits with the Bug-type, it makes it feel you're in an alien structure. Burgh also was always a bit of an odd guy, I mean its kind of add that an artist would specialize in Bug-types, but I think this theme builds upon his joyful excessive personality; like a child doing something they think is cute/cool but is a bit creepy to everyone else.

Nimbasa Gym: Virbank Gym 2.0. Has Voice acting and dynamic music that builds up to a grand entrance by Elesa. It perfectly fits Elesa's Gym being a fashion show as well as her extraordinaire and grandiose personality (aka big ego, aka Lady Gaga).

Driftveil Gym: A beat heavy theme which gives the feeling of you're going through some kind of production facility like a factory or, say, a mine. The beats sound like workers doing their daily grind and machines whirring noises. And it could just be what I'm associating with it, but there's also something about it that feels it belongs as an underground theme or someplace that's dim. Goes well for Clay as he's one of the more serious Unova Gym Leaders.

Mistralton Gym: An airy theme, makes sense for the Flying Gym. The theme more applies for Skyla's flighty personality than the Gym itself, however the background of wind noises can be related back to the Gym's theme of blowing you away with high powered turbines.

Opelucid Gym: An epic theme fitting for dragons. Goes well as you rise up the dragon's body, fighting through trainers and their dragons along the way, until finally getting to the head where the Gym Leader and the Gym's most powerful dragons await. Drayden is a very imposing man, this theme giving him a bit more feeling of intimidation.

Humilau Gym: Another gym more reflecting the Gym Leader's personality. This is a theme you just want to laid back to and let time fly by while you just doing nothing, very much Marlon's attitude. Not to say it doesn't go with the Gym, the water and beach can be very relaxing especially when you're riding on giant lilypads letting them take you wherever they were pushed to. There's no need to rush (well aside from Team Plasma firing ice cannons at cities), just solve this Gym puzzle at your own pace.

I enjoy the simple things in life.

Like the Ruby and Sapphire opening and title screen.

It may not be as iconic as the one in Red and Blue, but goddamn does it give me chills when combined with music. I prefer the original score when it comes to the title screen, because something about the Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire version just doesn't seem right.

However I think ORAS more then makes up for that with one of the best "welcome to the world of Pokemon" openings. You kind of get more into the introduction when you're seeing the Pokemon World and the Pokemon living in it instead of just the Professor talking about it.

And while the ORAS title screen is a bit more simplistic, it did provide as a nice book end with it being the first thing you see of the game, later discover it's the thing your rival was looking at on Route 103, and ending the main story with meeting your rival at that spot and having your post credit battle there.

I don't know what the ORAS title screen is like but what I do know is that Game Freak is God dam good at making creeping openings, like in pokemon Diamond and Pearl and platinum and maybe the Unova games

I always found the beginning opener for Crystal a bit creepy with you seeing a few Unown just flash on screen for a few seconds with not a lot of music. Sure it picks up soon after but at first you don't know what's going on as these alien like creatures shaped like letters are flashing on screen.

I always loved the Crystal opener. From the Ditto transforming into the Gamefreak logo, to the Pokémon animations, to the way the music picks up. I think it is one of the best opening in the series, especially considering the technology at the time compared to now.
