They could throw us off and have Sun, Moon, and Z. They could release Z at the same time as Sun and Moon, and probably have a gimmick with it. If we want to reach farther we could say Sun and Moon might be Gen 7 but have the ability to go to Kalos to do whatever Zygarde wants.

Maybe there will be a "Z Episode" similar to the Delta Episode in ORAS.
Another possibility is that they thought that Pokémon Z was too close to Dragon Ball Z and that X2 and Y2 was too Alegbraish for kids to want.
Or maybe Game Freak are trolls. I dunno.

A Z episode could make sense if we think about it. 20th anniversary main game has to do something big, and I do think that there's definitely a chance that we could visit Kalos or Kanto if Sun and Moon are truly Gen 7.

I definitely see it in the middle there.

... wait, what?

Actress, director, producer, Drew Barrymore will host a Pokémon Afternoon Soiree at the exclusive Sunset Tower penthouse on Saturday, February 27th. The intimate event will celebrate the brand's US categorical expansion into unisex fashion, accessories and home decor. From Los Angeles to New York, entire families will don Pokémon inspired lifestyle fashion.

...

Guests can enjoy complimentary Pokémon inspired nail art while lounging in this coveted locale with special guest, Pikachu.

The penthouse will feature the hottest Pokémon consumer products. Elite guests will also adore specially curated gift bags for the family.

Huh. I... don't know what to say... Like what type of fashion are we talking here? We can't be just talking about simple t-shirts, this sounds like they're doing some kind of high fashion stuff. Is there going to be some kind of Pokemon gijinka going on there on some level? Will there be people dressed up as so:

Oh my god no. Pokemon unveiled a new line of home decor, stationary, furniture, nail polish, etc. Most of it's inspired by a lot of the stuff they've only sold in Japan for the longest time with no representation or quality products in America.

"Unisex fashion" refers to shoes, hoodies, pretty much anything that can be worn by either sex. Please don't undermine the fashion world with Battle Revolution's awful character design.

Found the image of Zygarde I was talking about. It has some other speculation regarding Volcanion based off of text from its unused event in X and Y.

This could mean that Sun and Moon will take place in the southern region below Kalos. And that Zygarde is still the one that keeps order, but now in those two regions combined. Hopefully the direct will clear some things up.

Ah, I see. Though still they hired a celebrity (is she doing anything as of recently?) to just host a party of typical Pokemon merchandise? Why? Because it was decided to release them during the 20th Anniversary? Like if it wasn't the 20th Anniversary these items would just be put into the Pokemon Store without much of a hoot or holler?

It sounds like the Pokemon Company is throwing around money for no reason. A bland Super Bowl commerical, this lavished party for just normal Pokemon merch. How about doing stuff that's actually interesting. Like, I don't know, how about expanding on the idea you had with Splatoon's Gen I splatfest but go to say TV competition shows and have them to a Pokemon theme. Have one of the cooking shows have a Pokemon-themed challenge (like Cake Wars who often have to make themed cakes), speaking of fashion maybe have Project Runway have a Pokemon-themed challenge. Sponsor a dog show or cat show, or maybe do something with zoos or museums. I'm sure there's a ton of game stuff you can do like add Pokemon stuff to Mario Kart 8 or Animal Crossing (I think you can get DLC in Animal Crossing) or add more Pokemon stuff in Smah (like Pokeball Pokemon or bring back Pichu as a fighter, or maybe do the Ice Climber-like Plusle & Minun idea you tossed out for Brawl (and then rework the code to bring back the Ice Climbers)). Something that doesn't seem you're wasting money just cause you can.

Hmm, and thinking about, we have the Anistar City which has the Sundial and there's a Hex Maniac who mentions there's such things as a Moondial. Now originally when it was brought up by someone before (I think it was in the Conspiracy & Mysteries thread) I tossed out the idea of them mentioning it as just a "Fun Fact"... but maybe there is more to it? Maybe there is a moondial to Anistar's Sundial?

This is very possible, I think.
I was thinking about the Sundial in Anistar city too.
It's kind of linked to Mega Evolution, alike how Zygarde is linked to Mega evolution too.
Moondial could be another thing that links to Mega evolution... or maybe another kinda of mechanic.

They probably wouldn't have added all the new merchandise at all if it weren't the 20th anniversary. This isn't really the place to talk about it, but I do hope that we can show them just how popular Pokemon really is through publicity events like Drew Barrymore's house parties

Wouldn't the simplest explanation be that Sun and Moon are games launching next year on the new handheld, and XYZ is being announced in a few hours for 3DS?

I believe Nintendo understood that releasing a single cartridge as "third episode of the Gen saga" (like Yellow/Crystal/Emerald/Platinum) is not as advantageous as releasing two (Black/White 2). That said, Direct will explain anything.
My ideas:
1) S&M will be the same as BW2 were for BW: same region, just some changes. Different homeplace (Kiloude City?), different plot, same dex + new events (Volcanion/Magearna/Zygarde ofc), new megas. Several other changes as Kalos move tutor, some new gym leader and several changes to E4.
2) S&M will be plotted on the southern region of Kalos which is separated by mountains under Kiloude City. You can also go to northern region of Kalos (like Johto+Kanto in GSC!), but the main plot will be in this southern region. I'm just dreaming, I know.

That might be feasibe, but announcing two releases of games simultaneously goes against all conventions. Not only do they then compete for attention, many fans will have to choose what game to put their savings into. Getting both might be easy enough when you're older and affluent, but for kids it's usually either-or. I guess we'll see in three hours or so.

I like the Moondial idea. Southern Kalos to introduce Anti-Megas? lol

Is it possible to hack the Pokemon Direct video?
They have to put it somewhere on the internet before broadcasting, don't they?
