List with the most used Pokemon in the new metagame, based in the RTM Subforums

Out of curiosity, how long did it take you to compile this list?

But thanks for doing it. I'll refer to this list when looking for new ideas for my teams & use it to see if my team has counters to most of these Pokes, etc.

Ehh? I didn't put it up the first time, that was Sand Alchemist. The updates I did took about 15 hours or so each. It's a lot harder now that I don't have the free time from the summer, but yeah.

Heh, and you're welcome.

EDIT: I just updated the ubers list as well, but nothing really happened, there was only about 10 more RMTs since the last update it seems.

electrivire is that high?? i have seen maybe 2 or 3 electrivires in my 100s of battles. maybe its all the people in the 900 and 1000s that are using them

Maybe that's because Electivire is one of those Pokemon who looks amazing on paper, but once he's out on the field, you just realize how shitty he is. Cresselia eats Electivire alive.

Also, remember, these are SMOGON'S RMTs. Not anywhere elses. On Shoddybattle and Wifi, you battle people from everywhere, but these are just to show how smogon's teams tend to be.

Just for the record, about Electivire, most of the teams he was on were when I started this update. Near the end, it was Garchomp and Gengar town.

BL and OU are close enough... I see milotic a whole lot more than zapdos also. I think the tiers are based around what has the least amount of effective counters and what effectivly counters the most things. Mix that with what is most commonly seen... and you get the tier list :P. Thanks for taking the time to compile this... its helped me alot in deciding my teams what what i should be most prepared for.

interesting milotic is a BL and has 64 uses but zapdos is OU with 18 uses mabe the tiers should be revised

Bare in mind that this topic was made a long time ago - Shoddy was not around IIRC, and if it was, it was in it's infancy. The point is, most this data is compiled based on WiFi teams. And what is the chance of getting a good Baton Pass Zapdos? Very, very slim whereas competitive Milotics can be bred for quite simply.

The point is, there are other factors to consider as far as pokemon popularity goes.

Guys, the topic has been updated many times since the first time, including my update just last weekend. Just click the posts in my sig to see which list you want to go to, it changed a lot...The first post in the thread is so long ago!

Zapdos increased quite a bit, and even though it isn't as good as it used to be, it is rising very fast to catch up to some of the bigger guys.

- Gengar had the highest overall growth, not including Blissey, for 2 updates in a row now...what is up with that? Is Gengar really that good? Heh, I've never used it to tell you the truth.

Let's see:

3 immunities to common physical attacks (Normal, Fighting, Ground), spikes, and arena trap.
Excellent special attacking stats and movepool, including nice BP on two uncommonly resisted STABs, Will O' Wisp and Hypnosis, running off 110 base speed. Focus Blast as a prediction counter to it's most common weaknesses/switch-ins, and if that wasn't enough.... it can MOOB!

His versatile attacking/status capabilities mirrors the popularity of the versatile defensive/status capabilities of his ghostly partner Dusknoir.

Despite the hype on the new Pursuit and the pokes that can use it... Gengar is simply too versatile, too easily bred, and too damn sexah to NOT be a popular pokemon.

Not to mention clever usage of Focus Sash, Specs, or Scarf can completely take his expected counters by surprise.

zapdos can be used without BP and although it isnt 18:64 anymore it is 53:159 A marked difference. also I think you underestemate the difficulty in geting a feebas. but i take your point about outher factors.
