Gen VII: Pokémon Sun and Moon (New info Post #5834)

I'm sceptical but certainly intrigued. Fortunately, the leaker seems to have put himself on a timer siting the release of a new video sometime next week. This video like poison lizard reveal is unexpected. So I'll kick back relax and watch chaos unfold as these leaks do or die.

Hopefully, corocoro "world's leading source of Pokemon information" will shed some light.

I'm not commenting in too deep until we have any confirmations.

- No Gym Leaders: that's surely revolutionary and odd for a main Pokémon game, but I must admit that recently the Gyms felt really useless. I loved XY charachter designs, but I can barely remember the Gyms: too easy, really nothing to prove "your strenght" as they were supposed to be. I was surely hoping for a change, this sound a bit drastic but if rightly executed is still better than same forgettable Gyms as in the latest games.

- League build around you: if absence of Gym Leaders sounds odd, this is even weirder... I'm not negative about it at all, I'm just really confused on how to manage this thing making it more entertaining than the League itself. However, the presence of "Island Leaders" and later e4 seems to indicate some kind of solid replacing.

- Riding Pokémons: I doubt we'll be able to actually ride almost any pokémon... Maybe a lot more than in XY, and that's cool, but there're tons of minuscule and gracile mons incapable of supporting a person for a ride, at least graphically. However, if this is real, I'm really hoping it'll be the same for surf and fly (fly should become as Soaring in ORAS for any pokémon big enough to be animated like that). Even the pokémon popping out for moves like Strenght, Cut or Rock Smash would be cool; especially for Strenght, I always found pretty ugly seeing the trainer itself moving the rocks.

- New Bracelets: If real, hoping that this new kind of evo will be differentiated enough from Mega evo, and not mutual exclusive. I wouldn't like to miss potentially great Megas 'cause of this new mechanics. I'm not too fond of Ash-Greninja (mostly 'cause of the hair reference), I'm really hoping it'll be an exception design-wise reserved for the anime, so the "normal synchro evo" wouldn't be identical to the Ash's one.

-New mons: New Mushroom is ok, I really didn't feel it necessary since it's quite full of mushrooms in Pokémon (Amoongus, Breelom, and partially Parasect and their respective evo lines) but if unique enough no problem; rugby monkey not really my thing but could be cool; dolphin... FINALLY (but when a dolphin 'mon is up in the air the risk of a fake is really high); Snowman, I guess Abomasnow was too owl/conifer-like? I'm ok with that, not terribly excited though; Sea Cucumber has the potential to be the "dumb pokémon" of this gen, it would be nice to see a something useful, maybe bulky with a decent defensive ability.

-New Overlord Pokémon in each District: not really sure what this means, but ok... Are these the fellow guardians of Tapu Koko?

- Starters: If this is real, those infamous leaked sketches are actually true... And I'm pretty happy about them. That final Rowlett is probably one of my favorite starter ever, I love it, it's unique, complex but not overdesigned, and has the potential for some cool arrow-related signature moves or pseudo-signature (hidden) ability. Despite all the hate, I love the final Pupplio too: I think it's really beautiful and the concept of a Selkie/Mermaid make it unique compared to the other pinniped 'mons. Water/Fairy would fit it perfectly and it's a great typing. Finally the obviously most controversial of the three: wrestler final Litten. Ok, I would be disappointed by it, not 'cause of potential fire/fighting, but 'cause I really don't like the habit of transforming animals in humanoid pokémons, I would have preferred something more inspired by actual felids or other quadruped carnivores. However, that said, for that concept I think it's freaking cool, luckily it wouldn't be the Chesnaught of this gen. Actually, if that design is confirmed, I don't really care if it'll be the logical fire/fighting or fire/dark or fire/ground, I'm more conflicted about the concept of "fire starter fighter" than its typing alone. Emboar was a much better candidate for Fire/Ground.

- Werewolf Rockruff Evo: That would be in line with Rockruff description, and we don't have any werewolves yet, so I find it cool. Rock/Dark isn't common either, and if it'll be fast it'll be pretty original and could have some potential.

Some of these leaks seem way to farfetched to believe. None of of the names mentioned in the 4chan page seemed believable, while the Bipedal tiger wrestler idea sounds like that joke comic where Litten's second evo stands up and it's final one turns out to be a buff fire/fighting type. Magearna having story significance is pretty out there, too, since it is confirmed to be a mythical pokemon. Meaning one you download. (Also I still maintain that Zygarde will be Post Game only, so trying to fit it into any story seems illogical.)

Then there's the whole "no gyms, no leagues" thing. That would be such a huge departure from the series norm that it shoild automatically be treated with suspicion, imo at least. I would even say there is a strike against it: the concept art had a building that had gym-like features. That said, it doesn't seem as completely illogical idea as some other leaks. (I can kinda see how that story could go. Until the league at least.)

Wait... the radically different concept of Pokemon League in Alola makes me think if their timeline has something to do with it. Then again, we don't even know when will events in SunMoon happen in Pokemon universe timeline or anything at all. But this is indeed intriguing. I somehow thought this could be before the Pokemon League system we know nowadays even realised. Or Alola is lagging behind. This is baseless, though.....

Well, at least there are some good chances that furry waifu mermaid idol happens, although it's best to say "fake until proven otherwise". I'm now intrigued of how the story plot will become with this hint of early/different Pokemon League concept (if it's true).

I just thought of a possible reasoning for Litten still becoming Fire/Ground or Fire/Rock.

Being a wrestler, to win you need to force your opponent to the ground. You also need to be like a rock and be unmoved by the opponent to keep from going on the ground yourself. This is kind of baseless but just my thought.

Here is my opinion.

This leak is complete and total bullshit and should be treated as such until proven otherwise.

That's the first and last word of mine on the subject.
A fire poison lizard is true though.
Rockruff's evolution being a werewolf is also very possible according to Rockruff's entry.

And there's the "island trials" talked about in E3.
Also, where are the gyms on the map?
PokeBeach was given an HD version of the map-- can you see any gyms?

What about the Kalos Map?

You can see two, but they are also pretty distinct landmarks. All the other gyms aren't shown.

drastic change is weird but same time gen 6 itself was pretty weird with duel typing moves, new type after over a decade, and mega evolution. Not sure if I believe said leaks, but seems like cool concept if do so and like all 3 starters, but same time leaks are rarely proven right so eh. Only time will tell. It's a fun subject to talk about though while wait for coro coro that comes out in a few days.

My friend was the one who posted the screenshots on facebook, claiming that he saw the text 2 weeks ago.
ie: He's the source of the screenshots. That's how I got the screenshots.

I doubt TPCi would directly contact people for that. Otherwise everyone knows it's real.
They probably would use proxy people.
Though that anonymous person could just be any random people trying to pull a prank on us.

Although I remember that PokeBeach was asked to take down stuff directly from TPCi, but those weren't "leaks", they were people who got the games early.

But look, I doubt I'd get into any trouble if the leaks are real-- I don't work for Pokemon or anything. I won't have any consequences.

However, I'd probably get into trouble if the leaks are fake -- my Smogon reputation. A lot of people may be angry at me, etc.

Oh don't be ridiculous! Even if they turned out to be fake, at least you kept us entertained. Without you, we'd probably go into stir crazy speculation, and the thread would be locked while I was at work again!

From serebii;
It has been announced that the latest Pokémon Sun & Moon footage is to air on the episode of the Japanese variety show Pokénchi on July 17th 2016 at 08:00 JST. It's not currently clear what the footage will contain, but this follows on from the release of CoroCoro on July 15th 2016. However, of the recent reveals, only Tapu Koko has presently been covered on the show. We'll provide details of what is shown as it airs so keep checking back

I don't have high hopes for this "no gyms build a league" thing. My gut feeling is that if they take out already in place gyms you'll just have Gym Leader-esque battles to have them join up with your league and earn their respect. Same basic stuff, defeat increasing powerful boss trainers that are probably on some sort of checklist (I also feel like if you have to build a league someone in the starting town will give you a list that says "hey go find x y z in a b c towns") but just in a different package.

That's only one day off from another "European leak" on Neogaf. Anyway, we'll see.

It has confirmed that Pokénchi will reveal more new footage for Pokémon Sun & Moon on July 17th.

This match a little bit with the first rumou for new vídeo on next weekend.

Just note everyone, Pokénchi (and its predecessors) in the past have heavily disappointed with the new footage shtick, showing stuff we've already seen, so its possible they'll just show some of the Pokemon that were revealed last week, or more of Salandit.
