Gen VII: Pokemon Sun and Moon Discussion MKII

Actually this was kind of what I was trying to get at, but I decided to just to talk about the monkey since its relevant to the Chinese leak.
It's kinda interesting how the Riddler only posted the rugby monkey this month, whilst the chinese leak had it months ago.

But anyway, despite Riddler being proven to be an insider, it is also known that he does NOT have access to the full Alolan Pokedex, as he mentioned that Magmar line will appear in Alola, but he doesn't know where they appear. He thinks they will be on the 3rd island.

I have a pretty good idea where the Magmar family might appear.

I hope this Z form thing, if real, replaces mega stones, so this way they can revive the good and balanced megas like Mega Sceptile and Mega Aerodactyl while removing the busted ones. (Mega Mence, Mega Lucario, Mega Kangaskhan...) I dream that they buff all the starters with this new form! ;D

We get it, you don't like megas. Ash-Greninja aside, we know less about any kind of so called synchro evolution than we do about the very likely guarentee that the existing megas, at the very least, will still be in the game from now until the end of the franchise, bar some kind of large reboot. So far, 'Z' anything seems to be exclusive to the new move mechanics. For all we know, Ash-Greninja could be a new form of mega in and of itself.

Technically speaking, Magmar could be found in the oceans, couldn't it? That aside, if this third island buisness is true, and magmar can be found in the volcano, then that at least points to a basic progression of the islands, so there's that.

I was actually thinking Alola Magmar line may be Water/Fire and live near Undersea Heat Vents.

Conversely, I would rather the Z Form thing not be real. The idea of adding Ash Greninja to the main series of games is one I really can't agree with and think would be pretty idiotic. It doesn't make any sense to have something functionally the same as Mega Evolution when you can just expand on that. For it to be justified, imo, they would have to function radically different compared to Mega Evolutions. Otherwise why bother? If it is to try to achieve some kind of competitive balance... Honestly, I don't think Nintendo should actively strive towards that if it comes at the expense of trying new ideas. That would get in of some neat things they could do. Sure they should keep it in mind and maybe consider toning some things down, but a few OP things here and there isn't horrible. I do hope they nerf Parental Bond like they nerfed Gems though.

I didn't see the "Rugby Monkey", either, but I did find this interesting:

It basically cuts up that poster image from a few months ago, and points out possible hidden references to Pyukumuku, Wishiwashi, and Minior, who were not known to us at that time, and then refers to three other points that may indicate other new pokémon.
I think the helmet that the officer/medic guy is wearing in the middle picture of the bottom row looks a bit like Pikepek:

Why not both.

Introducing Alolan Magmar! Water/Ice. After being forced out of its usual volcanic territory by Turtonator and unable to adapt to in places full of plantlife, they adapted to live in the water and on frozen mountains.

Son of a...

That aside, if this third island buisness is true, and magmar can be found in the volcano, then that at least points to a basic progression of the islands, so there's that.

Which is odd as I always thought the volcanic island would be the second considering the variety of places it had to visit. I guess maybe the mountain island could be the second, I sort of took it more of a final island thing but I guess they could make the rocky mountain the final island if they want to build the story up like that. Also would give players access to the Ice-types during the 2nd quarter of the game.

Assuming that the "rugby monkey" Pokémon really exists (which seems quite likely), I predict it will be the second ever evolutionary line to learn Barrage (which is Ball Throw in Japanese). Hopefully GameFreak will actually buff that move in some way. It's really sad when a Pokémon's signature move is completely useless.

But if that were the case, there wouldn't be Mega Evolutions without Mega Stones. You'd just be buffing regular Sceptile, Aerodactyl, Kang etc.

I agree with Project_Mars on this one. Compare Mega Evolution, a well-received mechanic introduced in XY, to Synchro/Z-Form/whatever, something that's only happened once in the anime with Ash and his Greninja. Game Freak would have to do something drastically different gameplay-wise if they were to implement this over Mega forms...which I can't see happening. Maybe I'm narrow-minded, but what else could you enhance existing Pokemon with that isn't increased stats/new abilities/new typings + cool new designs? I'm treating Z-Moves separately by the way, since those aren't evolutionary/form changes. To add, Megas are quite simply all over the place, not just in the main franchise (in the anime, SSB, Pokken, Mystery Dungeon, TCG, irl in the form of toys etc). Why scrap something that has been such a huge commercial success, something Game Freak has invested so heavily in? Nevertheless, none of us knows for sure what will happen, but I will be shocked (and sad) if I discover that Altaria has been doomed to stay as a less fluffy, mediocre, non-Fairy cloud.

Also, do a Google search for 'synchro evolution'. Virtually every first-page result is merely Synchro speculation for SM. I'm aware that most of this content existed before the Z-Ring/Z-Crystals were confirmed, but it irks me nonetheless D: 'Anti-Synchro' is probably what I sound like, I admit, but I'm just attempting to look at things from a logical standpoint.

OK:

No more talk about Megas until they are either confirmed or not. At all. I'll delete any posts even referencing megas in any way, shape or form(e). You guys have trodden this topic into oblivion and we still don't have an answer either way. Just be patient and time will give us answers.

Yes. It also has gluttony :p
But, seriously, Alolan Raticate has been confirmed I think...
Less than 2 hours to go. I'm hyped!
If alolan Rattata evolves into regular Raticate I will not understand anything ever again. Ratatta doesn't need the great mustache to scare Yungoos anymore so they don't evolve? Who would give up a mustache though!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but when you transfer a Poké from one game to another, either between games or using Pokemon Bank, it states the region it originated from? e.g. travelled through time and space from the Sinnoh region.
I know we don't how compatibility between Sun/Moon and Pokemon Go works, but what region would Pokés from Go come from? Earth?

I haven't been following as much as I should. Is it going to be posted on their YouTube again?

Probably "Faraway Place" or maybe something like what the event Pokemon have.

Orre was just "a distant land". I hope they don't go for something that vague. It's nice when the locations go meta (like "the Pokemon cartoon"), so "the real world" would be pretty cool.

Does Go track where in the real world you caught the Pokemon? If it does, you could even have location pointers for actual countries.
