Quick question or two. What items are usually considered 'hax items'. I've had really random debates with a lot of people, and I think I have a pretty good idea, but not entirely. Secondly, what do people at Smogon think of using them? Are they usually banned here?

Is it possible to trade Pokemon between two versions of Diamond/Pearl over the GTS if you only have one DS? I'm getting them for Christmas, along with a DS (finally), but I don't have anyone with a spare DS to help with trading the starters/version specifics between carts.

It would be possible, but the odds are on someone swooping in on it while you switch games. Possible, just not wise.

Would it work if i used say... a Lv. 100 Caterpie as a trade request? I could have some imported from Emerald fully rare candied up and cloned...

Me and my little sister have bought Diamond and Pearl, respectively. Now, she is only 8 years old, so I should woop her every time. :p

But my question is this, what is you recommendation for the starting out pokemon. I've always been a water man, tried and true since my Blue Version, but these pokemon are all so new to me. Thanks for the help!

Whichever one looks most appealing to you. They don't really matter in-game because you'll be able to beat it fairly quick as long as you have 2-3 great Pokes at high levels. ^_^

I personalyl went with Chimchar b/c it's the easiest one to use for the storyline.

you should restart your or her game over a few times to get 2 of each starter then trade back, that way you have all 3. Thats what a friend of mine and I did.

Can I run

Thunderbolt
Flash Cannon
Thunder Wave
Magnet Rise

On my Magnezone? Is Substitute really all that crucial? I don't have the right HP, but that's not that much of a concern to me as I have others to take care of said Pokemon that are out there.

If this will work anyway (I'll probably use it anyway), does the EV spread

172 HP / 252 SpA / 84 Spe

Still apply? Magnezone don't have much HitPoints I don't guess so I guess it still fits but I'll probably be needing some more Speed.

Looks fine, but replace Flash Cannon with something. It's not adding anything to the set.

Really? What if I run into a Rock type? Which.... I guess it doesn't really matter, reminds me of 3rd Gen when I'd use Magneton and pretty much every other Electric type for STAB'd Thunderbolts and that alone.

Hmm, I'll flip through it's movepool and see what I can come up with.... tomorrow. :p

But really the reason I came again now was because I wanted to elaborate why I needed Magnet Rise.

Alot of the people I know just LOVE double battles. Why, I don't know, I'm old-skool myself, but somehow I've worked out combos with what little Pokemon I have.

Magnet Rise is a blessing as I can rise one turn and be immune to my partner's own EQ's.

And I don't have a single statuser on my team ATM, IIRC, which I can't cause I REALLY need to go to bed. So T-wave is a must.

So that's 3 attacks set in stone, and a 4th one yet to be determined...

I flipped through it's movepool. The only other good attacking option is Hidden Power, and mine's sucks. HP Bug 45.

Any other opinions? This is the best one I have so far..

I could've went with any Hidden power as long as if it were 55 BP or above and NOT Electric. :P

I don't see why Flash Cannon is a bad option though..

I see I can get Tri-Attack, which has (for some reason) worked well for me in the past, but still FC seems just way better.

I'd also like to have a second opinion on the EV spread, but I think that part's more dependant on my own personal preferences, especially on how much speed I need, etc., to cope with my other "Pocket Monsters".

edit:

@: jenigmat429: "hax" items I heard are the ones that make you and your opponent push the luck meter I think, and the ones that create evasiveness, which is why you don't see alot of Double Team.
Anyway, such items include Scope Lens and BrightPowder (I think) so hopefully someone can elaborate further with me on this. I'm running Scope Lens on my Absol anyway - that's about the only thing it can do. That or die. = / And I'm almost to the conclusion that it's ability, Super Luck, runs both ways, as I constantly get crit hits on me. Or maybe I'm just "Super Unlucky"...lol.

As for the "rules" goes here, people usually set their own rules in their sigs I've noticed, but I don't know about the site as a whole for tournaments and such. Haven't entered nor ventured into that area.

But hey, 1 answer's better than none, right?

amirite?? :P

Quick question is there any particular reason why you should use Jolly on Gyara? or is Adamant better? please I need an answer quickly
I think it's because Gyara doesn't need a speed stat that is any higher than it is with the normal ev spreads for Adamant ones.Jolly just doesn't have any benefits over Adamant.

Im breeding riolus with female lucario with everstone. None of the offsprings have recieved the nature. i got the luke of GTS, and i heard that hacks don't pass natures or something. Is this true or am i doing something wrong.
