What do you mean by “boosts”? That’s a little vague. Does it work like baton pass or some kind of Plus/Minus/Battery for Singles?
I think something like plus/minus/battery, yes. Of course, there would have to be a lot of tweaking to get it balanced, but i like the idea of forcing the choice between a larger boost or being able to build a team with a good collection of types.

Dragon Pulse isn't a contact move, and doesn't spread the typing according to your rule. You'd have to use a physical Sceptile set with Dual Chop (!) or Outrage.

This might be a little too kooky. Idea ripped from someone long ago but it's stuck with me ever since.

Melting Pot

Metagame premise: All six Pokemon on a team combine their movepools so that any Pokemon can use any move learned by another Pokemon on that team, but each move can still only be "learned" once.

Greninja @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Spikes
- Blue Flare
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt

Latios @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Searing Shot
- U-turn

Victini @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- V-create
- Zen Headbutt
- Earthquake
- U-turn

A visual example: Greninja uses Blue Flare from Victini and Thunderbolt from Latios, Latios uses Searing Shot from Victini and U-turn from Greninja, and Victini uses Earthquake from Latios.

Potential bans and threats: Smeargle, Kyurem-Black, Tapu Koko, Serperior, Belly Drum, Extreme Speed, Shell Smash, Shift Gear, and Quiver Dance. +1 Stats Z-moves are on the lookout as well.
Questions for the community: Does this make sense? Have I missed any glaringly obvious problem Pokemon or moves?

In a Dragonite/Tapu Koko/Mega Pinsir core, Dragonite can pass Extreme Speed to Pinsir (Dragonite can no longer use Extreme Speed in this scenario), Tapu Koko can pass Brave Bird to Dragonite (Koko loses BB), but Pinsir and Dragonite donate a total of 2 Earthquakes to the team.
Potential bans and threats: The usual suspects: Shell Smash, Shift Gear, and Quiver Dance.
Questions for the community: Does this make sense? Have I missed any glaringly obvious problem Pokemon or moves?
So hypooothetically the teambuilder would consider any Dragonite set with Brave Bird legal if Koko were on the team, but the build would be rejected if you tried running BB on both mons since Koko would lose access? I think it seems fairly balanced since the donor can't use the move itself. Those moves would definitely need to be suspected. The best mons would be abusers with subpar movesets and those that are decently viable but have ridiculous movepools like Clefable and Mew.

Lucario can do this for teams:

Kartana @ Steelium Z
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
-Swords Dance
-Meteor Mash
-Leaf Blade
-Close Combat / Blaze Kick

or

Medicham @ Medichamite
Ability: Pure Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
-Swords Dance
-Extreme Speed
-Zen Headbutt / Thunder Punch / Ice Punch / etc
-Close Combat

oof

You've got it, but rather than spam high power Pokemon with high power moves I'm looking for synergy between teammates (not that there won't be synergy with high BP/BST). Dragonite can give Tapu Koko Ice Beam for BoltBeam while Koko gives Wild Charge to Pinsir, freeing Close Combat for Dragonite.

StatusMons
All status moves that don't call an attack (sleep talk, assist, copycat, snatch, etc), have 70 base power and deal damage based on the users highest base attack stat.

The status effects are applied after the attack deals damage.
Effects of status moves don't activate if the opposing mon is immune.
Moves retain their priority, type, and accuracy.
If the magic coat is used, and if it would normally reflect the attack, the Pokemon using magic coat would use the attack instead and it will use it's own stats to determine if the status move will deal physical or special damage. Snatch works in a similar way.
If substitute would normally block the status move, it would still be blocked in this meta (I'm not sure what to do about sub)

Tier: OU
Bans: Protect, Detect, King's Shield, Spiky Shield, Baneful Bunker
Possible Bans: Endure, Substitute, Taunt

What This Does:
-Helps with 4 move syndrome.
-Potentially adds more coverage
-Makes taunt stronger
-It will probably be a bit chaotic due to spreading status, boosting moves, field moves, etc.
-Moves you rarely see pop up like crafty shield, terrain, recycle, quick guard, Safeguard, Helping Hand, Sports.
-Mental Herb
-Prankster mons will probably increase in usage

Questions:
Would boosting moves become too strong?
Would you play this?
Would there need to be additional changes?
Should Taunt be banned?
Would this be rejected like the OM idea: "Status Attack Switch: Status moves become attacks, and attacks with secondary effects become status moves"?
Should the base power be different?

Here are some ideas for sets:
https://pokepast.es/ec0e0006d4d3989b
https://pokepast.es/2aa8a9d44f099a94 (some anti priority + other ideas)
I submitted something very similar before called Status Quo and it got rejected because i made additions to handle boosting moves (which would be way too strong), prio, etc. Just a warning. Im honestly not really sure if this meta can be balanced without nerfing those types of moves though, recovery and boosting at the same bp as everything else outclasses all other options

Just as a side point, 60bp is a weird number to pick because it wont outdamage recovery moves and also technician users are immediately made better than all other options

Anyways here's a cruddy idea for a meta that's probably already been taken, but the idea is this:

Kantofication

Premis: A Gen 1 OU metagame where Pokemon from gens 2-7 are legal, granted they drop their illegal moves/types and have the higher of their two special stats chosen

So, any mon from a later gen is allowed in a gen 1 format, but they are only allowed the legal movepool at the time. No Focus Blasts or U-Turns; only Submissions and Pin Missiles. Also, only the first 15 types allowed, and any Pokemon that has a Fairy/Steel/Dark typing either drops the illegal type or remains illegal. That means that the Tapu's lose their Fairy typing and are legal here, but Magearna is still not allowed because it would be typeless. Lastly, simple enough, the higher of the two special stats (special attack / special defense) is used, so a mon like Blacephlon gets a 151 special stat for this meta.

Bans: Gen 1 OU bans + Gen 7 Ubers (besides the unbans listed), Regigas, Slaking, Hoopah, Hoopa-U, any Pokemon that cannot naturally be legal (Magearna, Unknown, item-reliant form changes like Silvally-Fire, ect).
Unbans: Zygarde, Shaymin-Sky, Pheromosa, Nagandel, Marshadow, Aegislash

Sets:

Scolipede
- Swords Dance
- Pin Missile
- Earthquake
- Hyper Beam

A fast and strong Bug and is one of the only good STAB users for a SE attack on Psychics

Kecleon
- Recover
- Thunder Wave
- Body Slam
- Blizzard

Great special with instant recovery and unlike Blissy, it has a decent enough physical attack

Zeraora
- Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt
- Slash
- Low Kick

Super fast twaves with 100% Slash crits and a 30% flinch rate from low kick.

Rotom-Wash
- Hydro Pump
- Thunder Wave
- Confuse Ray
- Thunderbolt

Lacks recover and an EQ immunity but is a scary ParaFusion user

Cryogonal
- Blizzard
- Explosion
- Bind
- Reflect

One of the fastest Bind/Wrap users, and has a nice 135 special for blizzard. Bind them to Blizzard range or score an Explosion once low.

Rhyperior
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Body Slam
- Substitute

Just a better Rhyhorn lol. Same goes for Blissey, which might be worth banning.

Questions:

-Is the translation too biased?
-Has this been done before and I haven't seen it?
-What else is worth banning? I'm probably missing a lot.
-Share sets if interested! I know gen 1 isnt the most fun meta but I like it a lot.
I got bored, and remembered this old idea.

Volcarona
Ability: Flame Body
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Blast / Flamethrower
- Amnesia
- Fire Spin
- Psychic

Of course, I gotta come up with something for Volcarona. Amnesia is an incredibly powerful boosting option in Gen 1, and Fire Spin is incredibly obnoxious. It also has Psychic to hit the likes of Toxapex and Tentacruel for big damage. The lack of entry hazards is also welcome.

Scolipede
Ability: Poison Point
- Twineedle
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance
- Hyper Beam

A slight improvement to your Scolipede set. Twineedle is preferable to Pin Missile, as it's stronger on average, and more accurate. The poison chance might be seen as a downside, however. Poison deals very little damage in Gen 1, and a poisoned Pokemon obviously can't be inflicted with a more powerful status condition, like paralysis, sleep, or freeze.

Serperior
Ability: Overgrow
- Wrap
- Mega Drain
- Swords Dance
- Hyper Beam

A very fast Wrap user, with access to Swords Dance to quicken the process of Wrapping the foe into oblivion. Oddly, Serperior can't learn Razor Leaf, so it's stuck with Mega Drain.

Clawitzer
Ability: Mega Launcher
- Crabhammer
- Ice Beam
- Hyper Beam
- Swords Dance

The only special-attacking user of the mighty Crabhammer. While not quite as powerful or accurate as its modern incarnation, Crabhammer retains its increased critical hit chance. It's a shame Clawitzer doesn't learn Blizzard.

Uxie
Ability: Levitate
IVs: 0 Atk
- Amnesia
- Psychic
- Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt / Fire Punch / Ice Punch

Incredible bulk and power, with an amazing typing and access to Amnesia. Thunderbolt hits Slowbro, while the punches hit Exeggutor.

Aerodactyl
Ability: Rock Head
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Hyper Beam
- Wing Attack

Aerodactyl's movepool has been drastically improved since Gen 1. Too bad it's probably outclassed by another flying fossil...

Archeops
Ability: Defeatist
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Hyper Beam
- Wing Attack

While Aerodactyl has a decent edge in Speed and a tiny edge in physical bulk, Archeops has the advantages of enormous power and higher special bulk.

Cryogonal
Ability: Levitate
- Blizzard
- Recover
- Explosion
- Reflect / Bind

Cryogonal is fast, strong, and has a great STAB move, but its options fall short after that.

ASCENSION:
Metagame premise
: Mons gain the base stats of the mon of the same typing with the highest BST, as well as the ability to use one of that pokemon's moves. If multiple mons have the same BST, the first alphabetically is the ascension choice. If the highest BST mon requires an item to be in that form (such as megas, arceus forms, primals) then the mon needs to be holding that item. If a pokemon is shiny, it doesnt ascend (so no stat change, and no need for any required held items), but it still gets to use one of its otherwise ascended mon's moves.
This is an Ubers based metagame, so regular ubers can be used. Mega Rayquaza cant be used or ascended into.

So some examples of strong mons:

Granbull @ Pixie Plate
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Play Rough
- Earthquake
- Recover
- Bulk Up / Thunder Wave / Heal Bell

This is an Arceus-Fairy-ascended Granbull. It has to hold a Pixie Plate since Arceus-Fairy is forced to. This set has incredible physical bulk thanks to intimidate and a great defensive typing, and fairy/ground is a great offensive typing. Granbull has taken Recover from Arceus' movepool to become a more reliable wall and setup sweeper.

Numel @ Red Orb
Ability: Simple
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Flame Charge
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide

This is a Pdon-ascended Numel. It has to hold Red Orb because Pdon requires it. Its taken Swords Dance so it can be an insane physical sweeper with Simple, threatening boosting with flame charge granting +2 speed also. Sound scary yet? This might be one of the mons that requires banning lol

Malamar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Hyperspace Fury
- Superpower
- Psycho Cut
- Thunderbolt

Hoopa-U-ascended Malamar is scary! It gets actually usable offenses to start with, as well as Hyperspace Fury patching up its one weakness (defense) with the first hit. It can also run a mixed set with Tbolt or Flamethrower. Whats more, Malamar has an alternative option to run a Suction Cups set with Z-Happy Hour to sweep with omniboosting instead.

Quagsire @ Swampertite
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 76 Def / 180 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Recover
- Earthquake
- Toxic

This Megapert-ascended Quagsire is a great stallmon, thanks to its 100/110/110 defenses and Unaware. It gets Stealth Rock from Swampert too in order to be a multifaceted pokemon, and even uninvested hits very hard.

This metagame has an absolute ton of hilarious mons to pick from that would otherwise be unviable, such as Bidoof, Persian-Alola or even Sudowoodo will work.

Potential bans and threats: Boosting items like Eviolite, Thick Club, Deepseascale, as well as Huge/Pure Power and Water Bubble etc. Im sure there will be PLENTY of broken mons that pop up :) Its likely that Drizzle and Drought will be banned too since not only the setters become op (gyarados-ascended pelipper, shell smashing arceus-fire-ascended torkoal), the recipients become absurd. I imagine thigns like Fur Coat and Fluffy will be fine though.
Questions for the community:
Any set ideas? How do you see the meta progressing? Can balance and stall exist with so many offensive demons and successful users of things like Mold Breaker etc?

Larvesta @ Eviolite
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 248 HP / 112 Def / 148 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Flamethrower
- Bug Buzz
- Morning Sun

The Volcarona family has a unique typing, so this is the best I could muster. Better defenses in exchange for no Z-move and a worse recovery move.

Dedenne @ Petaya Berry
Ability: Cheek Pouch
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Dazzling Gleam
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Recycle

Dedenne gets the two things it was robbed of: good stats and Fairy STAB.

Snorlax @ Figy Berry
Ability: Gluttony
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Extreme Speed
- Crunch
- Earthquake / Substitute / Recycle

Normal-types in general sound terrifying, as they don't need an item to ascend to Arceus levels, complete with STAB Extreme Speed.

Medicham @ Mewtwonite X
Ability: Pure Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Zen Headbutt
- Ice Punch
- Stone Edge

Pure Power + base 190 attack.

Mawile @ Mawilite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Shift Gear
- Play Rough
- Knock Off
- Ice Punch

How does Mega Evolution work? Could Mawile get Magearna's bulk and access to Shift Gear, boost up a few times, then Mega Evolve and swap its stats to those of Mega Mawile?

Slurpuff @ Power Herb
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Geomancy
- Dazzling Gleam
- Flamethrower
- Thunderbolt

If this isn't already the case, if the highest BST mon requires an item, you should be able to ascend to the second (or third, or whatever it may be) highest by not holding the required item. In this case, because it's not holding the Pixie Plate required to ascend to Arceus-Fairy, Slurpuff ascends to the highest available option, being Xerneas. Keep in mind that giving every pure Fairy-type access to Geomancy isn't as broken as it sounds, as none of them reach the raw power of Xerneas, thanks to Fairy Aura and some Fairies not getting access to Moonblast. And since this is an Ubers-based metagame, Xerneas is legal, so you'd need a good reason to use a non-Xerneas Fairy over Xerneas. In the case of Slurpuff, it gets a huge Speed boost from both Geomancy and Unburden, and it has Fire coverage.

Crawdaunt @ Choice Band
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Crabhammer
- Aqua Jet / Spikes
- Knock Off / Spikes
- Crunch / Spikes

Non-Gyaradosite Crawdaunt inherits Ash Greninja's amazing speed and power. A Specs set is also an option, but Crawdaunt has to chose between inheriting Hydro Pump and Spikes.

Gumshoos @ Choice Band
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Extreme Speed
- Earthquake
- Crunch
- U-turn

Eevee @ Eevium Z
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Last Resort
- Return
- Earthquake
- Refresh

Eevee @ Eevium Z
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Last Resort
- Hyper Voice
- Shadow Ball
- Fire Blast

Adaptability combined with Arceus.

I also thought it would be cool to see what sets the unbanned Kantofication mons could use.

Zygarde
Ability: Aura Break
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Glare
- Bind

SlideQuake is tried and true coverage. Glare, while not as reliable as Thunder Wave, is serviceable. The same can be said for Bind in relation to Wrap.

Shaymin-Sky
Ability: Serene Grace
- Swords Dance
- Headbutt
- Hyper Beam
- Solar Beam

Oh boy, this is a bad one. Swords Dance is nice, its Attack is passable, and it's still got good Speed (and thus a high crit chance), but that's where the positives ends. Its movepool is absolutely horrendous, and its only STAB move is Solar Beam, forcing it to predict an incoming Rock-type on the switch, and then "slam" a Grass resist as the Rock-type switches out.

Pheromosa
Ability: Beast Boost
- High Jump Kick
- Blizzard
- Hyper Beam
- Leer

Pheromosa starts out strong. It's got a great crit chance and good special bulk. High Jump Kick is the best Fighting-type attack in Gen 1. Blizzard is one of the best moves in Gen 1 and pairs nicely with High Jump Kick. Unfortunately, Pheromosa's potent movepool runs dry once you get to the last slot, with its best option being Leer to soften incoming opponents.

Naganadel
Ability: Beast Boost
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Growl
- Hyper Beam

Like Pheromosa, Naganadel starts out strong with Fire Blast and Thunderbolt, but those and Flamethrower are the only good moves it gets. Growl weakens the opponent, and Hyper Beam is only okay going off of Naganadel's middling Attack stat.

Marshadow
Ability: Technician
- Jump Kick
- Rock Slide
- Thunder Punch
- Ice Punch

Marshadow is probably the most viable of the unbanned mons, or at least the most well-rounded. Jump Kick is a pretty good move, and Rock Slide complements it well. BoltBeam coverage is never a bad thing, and Marshadow's Special is decent. Being a Ghost is also nice, as it grants immunity to Hyper Beam.

Aegislash
Ability: Stance Change
- Rock Slide
- Swords Dance
- Slash
- Hyper Beam

Another stinker. Great bulk, but no support moves to abuse it, forcing it to make due with offensive sets running off a base 50 Attack stat. Rock Slide, Swords Dance, and Hyper Beam are nice. Slash is also nice, but doesn't mesh well with Swords Dance.

Malamar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Hyperspace Fury
- Superpower
- Psycho Cut
- Thunderbolt

Hoopa-U-ascended Malamar is scary! It gets actually usable offenses to start with, as well as Hyperspace Fury patching up its one weakness (defense) with the first hit.
Hang on there. Only Hoopa Unbound can use Hyperspace Fury. I have read the rules and it doesn't state it becomes that mon.

Love the sets in both posts! i agree with pretty much all of them, with I believe Pheromosa having better luck with Low Kick and its 30% chance to flinch or even Substitute in combination with para support.

Here are even more sets that I can't believe I missed the first time around:

Regice
- Amnesia
- Blizzard
- Thunderbolt
- Thunder Wave

This thing has got to be busted: a 200 special, a good defensive/offensive typing, Amnesia, BoltBeam, Twave, and even Explosion/Body Slam if you wanted. Easily one of the best mons in the meta, probably worth suspecting.

Regirock
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Thunder Wave / Body Slam
- Explosion / Body Slame

Another good mon is the other legal Regi, with access to a Normal resist, Twave, and Explosion, all on top of great stats all around.

Jellicent
- Recover
- Surf
- Blizzard
- Night Shade / Confuse Ray / Bind

Water/Ghost resits some of the more popular types, and with Recover you're solidified as at least usable. The last few moves can fit your team how you want it, as it can actually be decently unpredictable.

Latios / Latias
- Psychic
- Recover
- Body Slam / Thunder Wave
- Hyper Beam / Ice Beam

Virtually the same mon, but these two are like Alakazam with less speed but better phys bulk and even a usable attack stat that could allow you to break some special walls.

Reuniclus
- Psychic
- Recover
- Thunder Wave
- Confuse Ray / Night Shade / Explosion

More Alakazam clones but with bulk. Can make a good parafusion user, or have Exposion for what is beginning to become more and more of a bulkier and hard to break meta.

Landorus-Therian
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance
- Rock Slide
- Explosion

Can't believe no one mentioned Lando yet! Its typing is a bummer with such a big Ice Beam / Blizzard weakness, but its also helpful for coming into Twaves from bulkier mons, which it can punish greatly. This also reminds me that there would be no harm in unbanning regular Lando, as its typing is a sever downside and it fails to pull of the same special attacking power, with Lando-T being the better choice between the two forms.

Edit: Also if anyone wants to post anything about Johtofication or Hoennfication feel free! They in theory would be the same rules I outlined in the original post, with dropping the illegal types/moves and being limited to what the generation offers.

Thought of some more potential unbans for Kantofication. One that should probably be unbanned, and another that might be able to be unbanned.

Yveltal
Ability: Dark Aura
- Psychic
- Rock Slide
- Hyper Beam
- Sky Attack

Yveltal's stats might be amazing, but these are literally the only four decent moves it gets.

Blaziken
Ability: Blaze
- Fire Blast
- High Jump Kick
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance / Rock Slide

It may lack Speed Boost, but its stats are still great, and its movepool is still incredibly potent. Probably the least likely to be unbanned of this trio.

Genesect
Ability: Download
- Blizzard
- Thunderbolt
- Flamethrower
- Explosion

It loses all STAB and its fantastic Steel typing, but its movepool is still great.

Johtofication might be cool, but I feel like Hoennfication would get weird when newer abilities are involved.

Kantoification triggers my theorymoning instincts way more than i expected. It's always nice to come back and find a cool meta idea like that. Hope it gets confirmed, though.
Now, now, as you might expect, i too have something to raise your attention on
187981

Gorebyss
- Agility
- Clamp
- Blizzard
- Hyper Beam? Psychic? idk i'm not good at gen 1 lel

This... is the one mon that gets both Agility and Clamp, and has a convenient speed tier that allows it to outspeed Pheromosa after Agilitying once. (though i really wouldn't really call it great before you use said holy move)
Well, it does get a notthatbad 55/105/114 bulk, so setting up shouldn't be too hard... and once that's done, the clampfest begins.

In the last slot, I'd probably use either Surf (for a more consistent Water STAB) or Amnesia (because you don't want to rely on landing a 75% accurate move too many times in a row).

Now for some more sets, mostly examining how the Gen 1 staples have changed.

Tangrowth
Ability: Chlorophyll
- Amnesia
- Mega Drain
- Sleep Powder
- Rock Slide

Tangela wasn't a Gen 1 staple by a long shot, but Tangrowth is THICC. With its terrible Special Defense patched up by its good 110 Special Attack, this thing is incredibly bulky on both fronts. Combine that with access to Amnesia, and you've got a powerful tank on your hands.

Snorlax
Ability: Immunity
- Amnesia
- Blizzard
- Thunderbolt / Body Slam
- Self-Destruct

Speaking of Amnesia, the classic AmnesiaLax is now MUCH stronger thanks to Lax's new 110 Special.

Rhyperior
Ability: Lightning Rod
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Substitute
- Body Slam

This is just a straight upgrade from Rhydon. Substitute is apparently for haxing a pre-paralyzed Starmie to death.

Tauros
Ability: Intimidate
- Body Slam
- Hyper Beam
- Earthquake
- Surf

King Tauros gained access to Surf to deal even more damage to Rock/Ground types.

Transform Mon
Metagame premise: Any status move that targets a specific Pokemon will transform into that target unless it fails. This does not apply to status moves that affect the user (Protect, Dragon Dance), doesn't target (Tailwind, Haze), or targets multiple Pokemon.

Transform Mon takes place in Doubles OU as being based on OU would have resulted in the format being too linear and boring.

Banlist:
Doubles OU clause
Any Pokemon with over 200 base HP (Chansey, Blissey, Guzzlord)
Shedinja

Potential Strategy:
Use Helping Hand to transform into the ally and giving them a power boost.
Side Defog on the ally to remove hazards on your side, then transform into an ally.

Questions to the community:
Does Transform Mon seem plausible for an OM?
Should Eviolite or Heal Pulse be banned?

Last edited:
Probably want to ban Shedinja too, otherwise it can transform into a Sturdy teammate (likely Togedemaru, though Aggron would do if you don't think you need Fake Out support, or if you wanted to be able to Thunder Wave your own teammate as preemptive protection from burns)

I thought it might be interesting to explore what could be done with these potentially banworthy items and abilities.

Marowak-Alola @ Thick Club
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Shadow Bone
- Bonemerang
- Swords Dance

Alolawak gets Blacephalon's stats. While Blacephalon is usually known for its fantastic 151 Special Attack stat, it also has a great 127 Attack stat. Alolawak also has the option of going mixed with Ice Beam, but it's probably not as useful.

Marowak @ Thick Club
Ability: Battle Armor
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Swords Dance
- Rock Polish

While Alolawak ascends to the Blacephalon, Kantowak ascends to the mighty Groudon, making it even stronger, and giving it the bulk to run a dual dance set.

Pikachu @ Light Ball
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Focus Blast

Pikachu gets the insane Speed and decent mixed offenses of Zeraora. I think a special set it more viable thanks to Nasty Plot, but a physical AoA set could also work.

Araquanid @ Choice Band
Ability: Water Bubble
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Liquidation
- Aqua Jet
- Leech Life
- Sticky Web

Araquanid recieves Aqua Jet and a 125 Attack stat from Golisopod. You only really need Liquidation and Jet. The rest is filler.

Clamperl @ Deep Sea Tooth
Ability: Shell Armor
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shell Smash
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt

Clamperl ascends to the level of Kyogre, giving it massive power and the bulk to easily set up a Shell Smash. Despite Deep Sea Scale turning Clamperl into a stalwart special wall, it lacks recovery outside of Rest.

Azumarill @ Normalium Z
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Play Rough
- Aqua Jet
- Knock Off

Azumarill gets a decent upgrade in its Attack from Tapu Fini, going from base 50 to base 75. It's much bulkier, allowing it to set up easier, but it's probably fine.

Medicham @ Fightinium Z
Ability: Pure Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Bulk Up / Swords Dance
- High Jump Kick
- Knock Off / Ice Punch
- Zen Headbutt

I already covered Medicham ascended to Mewtwo X, but even without the item, it's still powerful when ascended to Gallade.

Pelipper @ Flyinium Z
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Liquidation
- Sky Attack / Fly
- Knock Off
- Dragon Dance

Pelipper honestly just seems pretty underwhelming. I'd honestly prefer regular Gyarados thanks to its ability to snowball with Moxie, and the ability to run both Earthquake/Taunt AND Dragon Dance.

Torkoal @ Flame Plate
Ability: Drought
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shell Smash
- Judgment
- Earth Power
- Substitute

Torkoal @ White Herb
Ability: White Smoke
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Shell Smash
- Sacred Fire
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge

Torkoal, on the other hand, sounds terrifying. Not only can it get Arceus stats and become a powerful special sweeper, but it can also get Entei stats and become a powerful physical sweeper.

Ferroseed @ Eviolite
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Leech Seed
- Spikes
- Gyro Ball
- Power Whip

This is basically just a better Ferrothorn.
Forgot about Kartana.

Vibrava @ Eviolite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Roost
- Toxic
- Thousand Arrows
- U-turn

How does Perfect Zygarde work? Its condition is Power Construct, but it's not possible to give a Pokemon that in the team builder with these rules.

Woobat @ Eviolite
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Roost
- Super Fang
- Toxic
- Whirlwind

Natu @ Eviolite
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Roost
- Psychic
- Toxic
- Whirlwind

Like Lugia, but even bulkier, and with other defensive abilities.

Turtonator @ White Herb
Ability: Shell Armor
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shell Smash
- Fire Blast
- Dragon Pulse
- Earth Power

This isn't related to any of the banworthy stuff you listed. It's just a potentially good set.

Zygarde-Complete could be fun for ascension

It has very high HP which can be useful for Ditto, walls, and maybe final gambit.
Some Useful Moves: Coil, Core Enforcer, Dragon Dance, Thousand Arrows, Extremespeed

Bidoof @ Eviolite
Ability: Simple
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk
Adamant Nature
- Curse/Swords Dance
- Extreme Speed
- Crunch
- Substitute

Ditto @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Imposter
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk
Adamant Nature
- Transform
-
Extreme Speed

Diglett @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Arena Trap
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Final Gambit
- Thousand Arrows
- Rock Slide
- Memento

Regular Kyogre Provides Drizzle for Rain Teams
Some Useful Moves: Water Spout, Origin Pulse

Gorebyss @ White Herb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Water Spout
- Shadow Ball/Surf
- Shell Smash
- Ice Beam

Clawitzer @ Choice Specs
Ability: Mega Launcher
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Origin Pulse
- Dark Pulse
- Aura Sphere
- U-turn

Ultra Necrozma has very high attacking stats and good speed
Some Useful Moves: Morning Sun, Photon Geyser, Moongeist Beam?, Sunsteel Strike?, Stored Power

Torkoal @ Flame Plate/White Herb
Ability: Drought
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Eruption/Shell Smash
- Morning Sun/Stored Power/Photon Geyser
- Earth Power
- Heat Wave

Venomoth @ Black Sludge
Ability: Tinted Lens
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Photon Geyser
- Bug Buzz
- Roost
Edit: I think I misunderstood the item requirement for forms?
Edit2: I definitely think I misunderstood the premise. I'll have to think about the typing thing. I feel like might not want to have that kind of restriction since it's like having the same pokemon twice, but one is much stronger.

Oh, I think what you are thinking here is that you can use the next-highest BST if the highest BST requires and item and you dont want to equip it. I dont think that'll be the case, you only get to use that mon with the item or not at all (regarding regular Maro, Pikachu, Clamperl etc- that probably means i can just take a few of the things like deepseascale/tooth off the banlist since they arent possible to use in the first place)

I think the thing that would make Rain broken as a playstyle is things like:

Pelipper @ Leftovers
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 68 Def / 188 SpD
Careful Nature
- Liquidation
- U-turn
- Roost
- Earthquake

Kingdra @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Focus Blast

Mantine @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Gunk Shot
- Dragon Dance

Seismitoad @ Swampertite
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Waterfall
- Poison Jab
- Stealth Rock

Beartic @ Icicle Plate
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 160 HP / 252 Atk / 96 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Icicle Crash
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Superpower

Poliwrath @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Secret Sword
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Psychic

Gorebyss @ Blue Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Thunder
- Shell Smash

all of these mons are strong outside of rain and insane inside of rain- imagine taking a hydro from shell smash pogre-ascended gorebyss in the rain, or the threat of palkia-ascended kingdra basically just clicking buttons with its perfect coverage. Maybe the issue of Primal Groudon would be enough to deter rain, but it wont want to switch into Pelipper's earthquake (which also walls non-rock move versions) and doesnt want to switch in whatsoever on gorebyss, beartic, mantine, seismitoad etc etc since all the rain abusers can usually access ground coverage.

edit: also i think perfect zygarde would perhaps be banned. not sure though. thoughts? even though its a form change it is technically allowed in the meta as an ascension, so a zyg-complete-ascended zygarde would be allowed..

Tired of the versatility of so many Pokemon? Frustrated of the vast sets one Pokemon can run, invalidating checks entirely? Look no further, as in Levelmons only level-up moves can be used.

Bans: [Gen 7] OU Banlist

Unbans: Genesect, Kangaskhanite
Potental Unbans: Zygarde

Some sets:
188298

Volcarona @ Flyinium Z
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Fiery Dance
- Bug Buzz
- Hurricane
A strong setup sweeper. It doesn't have Roost or Hidden Power Ground so it utilizes the next best thing, Z-Hurricane, which can strike resists such as Kommo-o hard.
188301
188302

Diancie @ Diancite
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Moonblast
- Diamond Storm
- Power Gem
Perhaps the best Stealth Rock user in the tier. Unfortunately it misses out on important Ground coverage so Steels will wall it. Still an effective Pokemon however.
188304

Tapu Fini @ Leftovers
Ability: Misty Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 16 Def / 176 SpD / 68 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Defog
- Moonblast
- Nature's Madness
- Haze
Tapu Fini is an amazing pivot and stallbreaker, with Defog to clear hazards, Haze, to stop sweepers, Moonblast to hit threatening wallbreakers such as Hawlucha, and Nature's Madness to cripple walls. It suffers almost no weaknesses in the meta and is therefore an amazing choice. EVs are to survive +2 Hawlucha Acrobatics after rocks and outspeed Tyranitar. The rest are put into Special Defense in order to tank better.

Reasoning behind unbans:
188296

Genesect was banned for its nearly unrivaled offensive movepool and huge set capability, but its movepool is quite barren now. It carries no boosting moves, and little to no coverage. Its stats aren't very overwhelming so I unbanned it.
188297

Whilst Kangaskhan-Mega retains powerful moves in Fake Out and Sucker Punch, its strong options stop there. Its best option for STAB is Chip Away, and it has very few other moves that can assist it. Again, its stats aren't too much to handle, so I felt an unban was justified.

Questions for the public:
What do you think of this metagame?
Is this metagame fun to play?
Are there any other Pokemon I should unban?
Are there any major threats I missed that should be banned?
Thank you guys for reading this post!

Commonly submitted metagame ideas that get rejected said:
  • Hate good moves: Only level up moves allowed/TMs disallowed/only unviable(or "Usually useless moves" from PS builder) moves allowed.

I think it would be more interesting to allow the next highest available BST mon to be used, though as I think about it more, I realize it might lead into Zard X and Y situations where you have to guess which set your opponent is using, and if you guess wrong, you just lose. So maybe it's for the best that you need to use the item.

Also, what about transformations that have conditions other than an item? This mainly concerns Perfect Zygarde.

A few things to note as well as my critisms:
1. I disagree with the +1 move from the mon you’re ascending from. As an ubers based metagame, theres a lot of fun to be had with ordinary mons ascending to the base stat requirements that basically dictates if your mon could ever even be Ubers. So, by getting a huge BST, the window of viability is already open. Theres no need for non-Ubers to take away likely broken moves from other Ubers anyways. The new abilities and movepools will be enough I’m sure, and just in general makes the metagame more competitive. On top of this, you can drop the shiny predicament as it dilutes the premise for niche, likely unviable situations (something like Ferro not wanting Kart’s special def is understandable but its also a good balance for the give-take relationship OMs often have).
2. What about the case of ties? Bug-Fighting, Ground-Poison, Poison-Dark, and others have 2 or more pokemon with the highest BST for the type. Is there anything you can think of that can work as a tie breaker that won’t muddle the premise? My guess is to say they don’t ascend at all. Shame, no Guts Boosted Heracross with Pheramosa’s stats....
3. Including megas and primals is odd for what you can Ascend into, and I think you should stick to just regular, outside of battle form changes like the Arceus or Rotom forms. This is consistent to other metagames like Gods-and-Followers, where Primal-Groundon’s new Fire type does not impact the type restictions of your team, still making you use only grounds.
4. Speaking of megas, I think megas should be untouched all together. This means Scizor would have the stats of Genesect before mega evolving, but goes back to Mega Scizor’s stats once it does mega.
5. As far as bans, Huge Power and Pure Power mons dont Adcend to any Ubers stats so thats okay, but Thick Club/DeepSeaTooth/LightBall should probably be quickbanned. As this is still Ubers I doubt you’ll need to ban weather abilities with Primal Groundon and Kyogre likely still being relevant and invalidating each other. Araq is stronger now sure but its likely still not Ubers relevant with Goli’s stats.

A few mons given my rendition of the idea:

Swoobat @ Salac Berry
Ability: Simple
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Stored Power
- Heat Wave
- Substitute

Lugia’s bulk and special attack for the simple CM sweeps.

Manaphy @ Icium Z
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Tail Glow
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Energy Ball

Arceus with Tail Glow sounded nasty and a +3 Z Ice Beam can 1HKO even the special def variants of Primal Groundon.

Talonflame @ Flyinium Z
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Bulk Up
- Taunt
- Brave Bird
- Roost

Ho-Ho’s bulk and attack make Talonflame able to be a decent stallbreaker with this set that has the priority flying STAB when healthy.

Dugtrio @ Groundium Z
Ability: Arena Trap
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Earthquake
- Sucker Punch
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Sludge Bomb

120 all around makes Dugtrio a trapper that can attack on both ends, but still has limitations in its movepool. Cool nontheless.

Linoone @ Aguav Berry
Ability: Gluttony
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Extreme Speed
- Shadow Claw
- Stomping Tantrum

Linoon with 120 across the board means everything but Marshdow is going down to this.

Lilligant (F) @ Grassium Z
Ability: Own Tempo
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Synthesis
- Petal Dance
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Just one of many new viable sweepers thanks to the Arceus form ascensions.

Bug: Arceus-Bug
Bug-Steel: Genesect
Dark: Arceus-Dark
Dark-Flying: Yveltal
Dragon: Arceus-Dragon
Dragon-Flying: Rayquaza
Electric: Arceus-Electric
Fairy: Arceus-Fairy
Fairy-Steel: Magearna
Fighting: Arceus-Fighting
Fire: Arceus-Fire
Fire-Flying: Ho-Oh
Flying: Arceus-Flying
Psychic-Flying: Lugia
Ghost: Arceus-Ghost
Grass: Arceus-Grass
Ground: Arceus-Ground
Ice: Arceus-Ice
Normal: Arceus
Poison: Arceus-Poison
Psychic: Arceus-Psychic
Rock: Arceus-Rock
Steel: Arceus-Steel
Water: Arceus-Water

Besides a few exceptions, looks like monotypes won out as they all get Arceus.. I still think this is the best bet, unless you make it an OU based metagame and ban Ascending from Ubers.
