Sword & Shield **Official news only** DLC Crown Tundra 22nd October

Maybe it's just a case of pareidolia, but does the P on Peony's hardhat look kind of like a Pokemon head? Maybe that's all it is, but would be neat if it's an unrevealed mon or form, e.g. Peony's signature mon that helps with exploration. The trailer does cut out as Peony throws a pokeball...

While it's a bit less impactful seeing as how flower names seem to be the default for new Pokemon characters, but Peony is a flower name, lending more credence to the theory that he's related to Chairman Rose.
While everyone in Sword and Shield has a plant name in most languages (even rare exceptions like Nessa are flower-related in non-English languages; I don't think anyone has no plant names at all), something that is worth noting is that peonies are also known as "peony roses" because of their resemblance; although it's technically a misnomer and they aren't true roses, that's no different from Gladion being named for "sword lilies" even though gladioli are actually irises. I think they're definitely related!
(also, they have almost exactly the same moustache - except that Rose's is missing two small segments, which is probably just to look more like the TCG Steel-type logo - as well as the same eye color and strikingly similar hair except that Rose's is combed to the side and Peony is wearing a helmet)

New info, awesome! I'm very happy that we finally have a proper release date for the Isle of Armor. June 17th... Why did it have to be on a Wednesday? This means I won't be able to start playing it on the release date, guess I'll start on the Thursday that week instead. But Midsummer is that week which means I am free from work on the Friday, giving me more time to play during the weekend, so that is great!

And I'm honestly looking forward to it. I haven't played Sword for over 4 months now, and I have recently started to miss it. Didn't think that would be the case, but that's it. I think I'm getting a bit burnt out on Pokémon again... I wonder if the DLC will raise my interest in any way. It will at least be a good reason to go back to Sword... or so I hope. I have planned to make a new team for the Isle of Armor so I guess I'll go back to the game a few days before the release and start with doing preparations for this team. I have planned three members for the team so far, not sure if I should plan any more or if I should wait and see which they'll end up becoming.

As for the actual new info we got... the new Regis are Electric and Dragon, guess that was sort of expected given their designs. I'm surprised at the typings for the birds though, I thought they would remove the Flying-type for them and not their primary type, but I suppose this works too. Galarian Slowbro has the Shellder on its arm and is a Poison-type, interesting. I wonder if this means it will have higher Attack than regular Slowbro? Design-wise, I like it better than Galarian Slowpoke at least so that's great. It seems like once more, it is mostly Kanto Pokémon that get Galarian forms which I have mixed views on.

I'm happy that several older Pokémon are returning. Including some of my favorites such as Lycanroc, Mienshao, Magnezone, Zoroark, Volcarona, Metagross and Garchomp. Since Dragalge is returning, I'm hoping Clawitzer will as well since it is another of my favorites. Not sure how I feel about legendaries in raids though. I like catching legendaries but I am not a huge fan of raids. Not sure if I'll bother with it, we'll have to see.

If I have understood this "Max Soup" right, it can make any Pokémon that drinks it Gigantamax? If they had the ability to Gigantamax to start with, I assume. If that really is so, then that's very good as it fixes one of my main issues with Gigantamax. Now I might even start using Gigantamax myself.

I also like how they released the Galar starters with HAs... though I'm not sure if I'll get any of them since I don't have Home and I'm still not sure if I will get it either, this is making me considering it though.

With this new info, I'm very satisfied. Now I don't need to see anything more about the Isle of Armor before it releases. If there's any more new pre-release info, I will try my best to not look into it. I am also planning to go on hiatus from the forums a few days before the release of the Isle of Armor in order to avoid spoilers for it.

In few words, it's meant to give the G-max factor to a G-max capable pokemon.

So you can't make a Meowth gigamax, but you could make a freshly bred Cinderace (or your starter) able to

Anyone else kind of bugged by the Star Tournament being locked behind DLC>

Like everything else about the DLC is confined to the DLC. But this thing is specifically available at the Rose Stadium and just seems to be a double versions of the usual tournament. It just seems like a mismatch, something that should have been there either to begin with or as free dlc

It doesnt necessarly have to be. It could be *coming* when the DLC comes, but if it takes place in regular stadium, it might be a regular feature.

(Kinda like the extended pokedex is available to everyone)

Nope!
Once you progress far enough in your adventure in the Crown Tundra, you’ll be able to participate in the Galarian Star Tournament, held in the city of Wyndon! In this tournament, you’ll battle with various Trainers you met in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield—but not just as opponents! You’ll also pick a teammate and tackle the tournament together!

Only available after progressing through Crown Tundra enough

Interesting, though from the wording, it might mean it also includes NPCs you fight in the DLC itself
Honestly the way it words makes me wonder if the DLC characters would even show up but I'll admit that's pessimism.
Still...they could have just excluded the DLC characters unless you had the DLC.

I dunno, something about this in particular just feels off. Everything else exclusive to the DLC I can kind of nod & go along with even if there's things that could have been in the base game. But here, it's a place you already have access to fighting 90% trainers you already have access to in a set up (tournament bracket!) you already use.

That's not something I could see a company like GF doing considering they're not... really good when it comes to more complex ideas :P

That said, I wouldn't contest if the feature is exclusive to the DLC.
In the end, you need to give people a reason to buy it, and consider that technically you dont need it to obtain the Pokemon that are present, so having some PvE gameplay features locked behind the purchase looks okay in my book.

Well sure but it's hardly the only option for PVE content, ya?

Skimming through. People seem to not like the new legendary designs but I seem to find them just fine. Gen 3 overall had lazy designs. Like Salamence.

Found a list of Pokemon in a previous post, but looks like others were confirmed since. Do we have a solid list of everything shown so far for each expansion? Seems like we spotted 55 out of "100+" for Isle.
