Sword & Shield **Official news only** DLC Crown Tundra 22nd October

Slowking looks dope. If its stats are the same as Galarbro, but with flipped offenses and defenses, it'll be a strict upgrade to Galarbro in Smogon competitive formats beyond Quick Draw cheese. 95 / 100 / 100 bulk with Regenerator presumably is no joke. Eerie Impluse will also be a great asset, both for and against stall teams, since PP management in the stall matchup.

I would be pissed about the low catch rate in the Dynamax Adventures sidequest, but I got 999 Master Balls from a hacked raid a while ago so I don't really mind haha. Its kinda cool that you can also catch the Kantonian Legendary Birds in the raid dens though. I think using rental Pokemon only is fine, since it makes the mode more challenging. The sets honeslty don't seem too bad either. Charjabug is an ok support mon because of Battery and Special Flareon, while suboptimal, still performs the role of a special Fire-type just fine.

I'll just throw it into my list of reasoning for "GF really thinks players are too stupid to actually play their game"

....nah, realistically, it's just to speed up any pokedex grind, even though most people who do pokedex grind will be spamming ultraballs anyway.
I don't think it's even the pokedex grind, its...pokeballs. No one is using pokeballs to grind.

I will say, though, that SWSH is hypothetically the best point to have this reward for new players, i guess? Because there's a ton of pokemon you hav access to in the wild area, at a point in the game where you can't reliably buy a ton of great balls (you need the first badge, otherwise you just find some here & there).

I had a quick search and apparently there was no 100 Poke Balls gift for that piece of trash known as Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee, despite it being the only game where you'd want extra Poke Balls because of the shit catch mechanics.

So much talk and complaining about Slowking's ability vs intimidate but did everyone suddenly forget Max Moves are a thing in vgc, with 5+ having stat lowering effects to both parties? Especially after another member falls in battle, slowking can put their teammate back to form and possibly help them survive another day.

Also, I think others forget that there's usually at least a few seasons where legends start to roam free, and a bunch of the non uber tiers will be updated too be legal just like Coballion and friends were.

you guys need to relax a lil, bit bitter in here.

Um... Yes? Why wouldn’t people talk to NPCs?
I lied, I forgot there were NPCs that give out free Poke Balls in Let's Go.

But really, most NPCs just kinda ramble on about stuff that's unimportant (another reason to not have voice acting). If there are people who give out items, I just tend to go back to them after seeing that info elsewhere.

I disagree. NPCs can give you a lot info on characters, towns, lore, politics etc. Maybe that info is not relevant to gameplay, but it’s nice to learn more about the world, and there is chance they might give you something useful for your trip. So I make an effort to talk to most NPCs.

SoI want to point out something interesting: If we're getting the whole game+DLC bundle packs now, is Sword and Shield finished? No more Expansions? If so....what next? Main series games for the gen being finished within the year wasnt in my bingo cards. No tangible words on remakes, way too soon for a new gen...What can we expect in 2021?

Game Freak confirmed in November 2019 before SwSh's release that Gen 9's development had gotten started, and I think we know that a new generation takes about 3 years for GF to develop, so maybe 2021 could just be another gap year like 2015 was?

How, outside of wacky baton pass chains, do you intend to enter the field with lowered stats? The ability would virtually never do anything if it self-targeted in singles.

If it hazed the opponent, well then that would be a cool alternative to unaware.
Because, maybe, the ability works as a Screen Cleaner for stats + Clear Body? That would be useful, especially on something defensive.

If it is not like that, it would only work on Intimidate (useless for Slowking in singles unless its stats are whack compared to normal form) and Sticky Web (even more useless for Slowking, unless you're speed creeping against.... Slowbro? Quagsire?). I'm all for gimmicky mons, provided the gimmick has always some utility...

Eeeeh, I wouldn't read too much into that. It's common practice.

Multiple-year, live service games release yearly bundles with all available content to lower the price entry barriers for newcomers: it's one thing for consolidated players to pay partial content separately (you pay the base game 60USD, than additional 30, but in different moments so mentally you don't give the total sum the same value since you have already used the base product - it's a psychological thing), but imagine having a 90USD entry price on shelves.

You could make the argument that long-playing fans are financially screwed over, and it's not a wrong argument per se, but you amortise the additional cost via the extra hours you (supposedly) played that new players won't have back.

Of course, all complaints and considerations still apply (MrHands is exceptionally right on this front in my opinion).

This is just how it works, and whether other DLCs are coming or not does not depend on the availability of condensed editions.

In regards to the GO-HOME compatibility, the japanese website seems to have clarified that there is some sort of "delay" when doing a transfer, but if you use PokéCoins, it's done instantly.
Suddenly getting Pal Park flashbacks here. If it’s just a delay I’m willing to go through with it but wow this is petty.

Going to clarify something: it's not a delay, but you do have to wait for a period of time between transfers, though that could be reduced by using Poke Coins. However, there's no mention of how many Pokemon you can transfer at once, how long the waiting period is, and what the rate of Coins : time is.

This is pretty much how that article I used as a source mentions DLC works,

You release DLC shortly after the game's first launch
You make sure the DLC is modular so as to not increase scope creep (you add new self contained campains, not things that alter gameplay)
You re-release the main game with the DLC at a discounted prize so to attrack new costumers
You release more DLC
repeat

What's bullshit is that it's been tested for months in various parts of the world and I still don't have it where I live. It doesn't affect me much since I pretty much don't play the game much anymore, but I still would like to run some raids and whatnot every now and then to transfer stuff over to Home, i.e. I do need those Raid Passes and some box space tbh.

Yes. I have researched a bit about how Go works since yesterday and I absolutely have to back you up. It's borderline predatory behavior.
Basic features such as this are artifically slowered only to attact the unaware ones into spending more time and money (either are revenues for Niantic and TPC and yes, time is a currency) and attempt to make this seem a common practice, which honestly is not and should never be.

And if anyone think it's harmless ("it's pokecoins, you can get them ingame, you can farm!"), it's not. It serves the purpose of both engaging you into playing more of their app just to transfer mons more efficently (bleah) and always test the waters about how much they can get away with (bleah + puking noises).

To be fair, Go is a mobile game. Pretty much all mobile gaming is predatory in a way or another.
If anything I'm surprised the Pokemon mobile gaming is still remaining only "borderline" predatory and hasn't committed to full fledged whaling yet.
