I'm gonna say offensive, there are no physically offensive ghost types
I'd be willing to bet that that would be quite broken, if it had a good movepool. Great typing+good defenses+good speed to use the+good attacks+great STAB.
the offesive movepool probably wont be too big..
If physical
close combat
cross chop
brick break
stone edge
shadow claw
pursuit
shadow sneak
elemental punches
If special
shadow ball
focus blast
thunderbolt
grass knot
vacuum wave
aura sphere (maybe)
Just due to typing i cant see it getting much more, so really threatening but seems possible to counter..
We don't need to make it counter everything. I mean does Infernape counter Kyogre? No.
How do you know? We haven't done the art yet. For all we know, the art of Ghost/Fighting could be based off of Thor, God of Thunder.Oh...Wel, I COULD see Syclant in Uber battles. Yeah, ok, but not Thunder, cause that really doesn't make sense.

XD I could actually see 40/135/65/135/15/135 on Deck Knight's movepool.
I'm not sure if you were joking...Um, I think what Tsukikage meant was like Blissey and T-Tar in Uber, not itself being Uber.Uber eh?

Defensive all the way. Ideally with lopsided defense toward Special Defense to gratuitous extent: Above Umbreon and lower than Blissey on the Sp.Def tiers.Should our new Ghost/Fighting Pokemon be offensive, defensive, or balanced?

Balanced is the way to go. It needs to have the ability to counter Heracross and Tyranitar 100% of the time, which means that it needs the defenses to do so. Meanwhile, we can give it good offensive options to take advantage of its STAB-attacks. Plus, this would make it balanced (no pun intended), in general, as to make it fully offensive, it would need Close Combat, which diminishes its ability to take hits based upon its statistics and superior typing.
Looking Down the Road
Personally, I am hoping for a spread that resembles the likes of Swampert, giving it the ability to really tank and deal out good amounts of damage. Most importantly, I think it is absolutely imperative that we give this thing the move Bulk Up. With Bulk Up, this could resemble Swampert even more, with Bulk Up simply in place of Curse. A set of something as simple as Bulk Up, Cross Chop / Force Palm, Shadow Claw / Shadow Punch, and a Recovery Move / Support Move / Coverage Move ... it would wreak havoc, and with good reason. Move aside, Swampert.
