WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY!!!!!!!

I'm still scratching my head about the Shaq-Marion/Banks deal, well not really, since I'm a die hard Sun's fan. Let's just hope the diesel's got something left in the tank...(Or if he could be like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in his twilight years...Get a rebound, throw a outlet pass and see if somebody could get layup, if not, have Shaq post up and play half court offense)

As a Suns fan I am supremely ticked off, we trade Kurt Thomas and Draft Picks for cash (he had a $8 million contract), but then trade for Shaq who is WAY past his prime, hasn't played in weeks and has a massive 2 year $40 million contract. Way to do completely opposite things.

If they wanted to unload Marion, they had plenty of offers during the offseason for him. If they wanted someone to post up and play defense, why get Shaq who hasn't done anything in ages? Okafor was in the discussion to be part of a deal for Marion, I would gladly take him over Shaq. While I could see the Suns becoming an effective 4 man rush and an additional defensive center and Steve Nash could still run a very effective offense in the half court when needed, I don't think Shaq is the answer. Hes going to get posterized by the West centers and now I am even less confident of my team making it far into the playoffs.

I just hope this is a massive joke and/or Shaq fails the physical.

He didn't fail the physical, he passed >.>

Looks like we're stuck with him for at least 2 years, paying him $20 million both years as well. He's definately not Grant Hill...on the otherhand, if the Mavericks had gotten him instead, that wouldn't be very good either...

Either way, the running and gunning style of play is dying now. Shaq is kind of...slow...and old...and no Marion. So the starters will probably be Nash, Stoudamire, Bell, Shaq, and Hill/Diaw. Just doesn't seem as effective...

I'll reserve my judgment about the trade till after Shaq plays his first game.

Be pretty hard to win the West though with the Lakers.

Go Pistons.

^I think I would MUCH rather have Garnett than O-Neal. Trust me! Look at Garnett's season, and then look at Shaq's. Enough said!

How great would Suns versus Lakers Western Conference finals be like this though? Presuming the Suns could still keep it competitive, that is.

That would be pretty sweet, but my money would defineitly be on lakers. They don't just have kobe bryant, they also have players who can support him.

Once Spurs get healthy again, they will get to the top of the west again. Spurs, Suns, Lakers and Maverick will be in the playoffs no matter what imo. On the East, I don't care...because I hate the Celtics D:

About the Shaq/Marion trade, they should have traded Marion for expiring contracts and/or draft picks. They wanted to get someone to help them in the playoffs, but Shaq isn't the best one to do that.

So, how about the Kleiza/Najera for Artest trade rumor? :o

Is Artest playing PF? In the WEST????

And don't tell me "melo's playing SG" because A.I's playing PG in that scenario and AI playing PG is invariably a disaster.

Denver needs to deal Martin and pieces for Brand and hope he gets healthy.

if Nene was healthy, Denver'd be the best team because Nene can actually play D

great win for the celtics over san antonio

pierce played amazing, and without our starting frontcourt everybody else seemed to step up and continue to play with the energy we had with KG in the lineup. The celtics are looking like they're gunna start back on their hot streak like the beginning of the season. With the develpment of the celtics young players they're gunna get alot better. Tony allen, rondo, perk, powe, and davis are all playing better lately. Im gunna pick on tony allen here and say that he "should" be our energy guy 6-man that gets the points off the bench on the dribble. He has the skills, for him as shown in the past, its all about his confidence level, and its starting to rise.

Rondo is the next J-Kidd. He just dominates every facet of the game except jump-shooting, and the minute he gets a consistent J he will be amazing.

Speaking of J-Kidd... for the a lot second half of the Nets/Mavs game, New Jersey has held a good sized lead over the Mavericks. VC has 27 points and J-Kidd is a few rebounds away from a triple-double.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh fuck this shit we just lost the playoffs I guarantee it. Jason Kidd is still a good player, but he is no longer great. There is no point in shaking up our team with a player who is not GREAT with how successful we are.

FUCK THIS SHIT THEY ARE GETTING RID OF HARRIS AND DIOP! I like how they mention it as 'other players.' Diop is not 'another player,' he is a really valuable part of this team. Yes, we have other players like Brandon Bass that can fill the gap, and we have Dampier, but we need Diop. AHHHHH.

Kidd's Career Averages:
14.3 PPG, 6.7 REB, 9.3 AST, 2.0 STL, 40.1 FG%, 78 FT%

Kidd's Averages this season:
11.3 PPG, 8.1 REB, 10.4 AST, 1.5 STL, 36.6 FG%, 82 FT%

I don't see how Kidd is still not great, the only stats below his averages are his points and FG%. Kidd is still great and should add some toughness to Dallas. I do agree that losing Diop hurts because of the recent big-men addition to possible playoff opponents. Overall, however, I think Dallas is a better team now.

so does he still start for the east at the all star game? what a joke. Before it was a shame that calderon didnt make the team cause a PG with namesake got the nod, even though he is worse statistically. Now hes not even in the conference. Tragic :(

Are you fucking joking Mizuno? Harris has better efficiency ratings, plays better defense, has the youth, is cheaper (and will be cheaper even after a contract extension, although that will now be for some other team). This is not as absurd as the Shaq trade, but it is pretty fucking close.

I think he will not be able to start for the East, and that Jose Calderon should hopefully get the spot!

wow another superstar traded, what a crazy year this has been.

Allen to boston
KG to boston
Gasol to LA
Shaq to PHX
Kidd to DAL

wow, its gotta be a really long time since this many "superstars/borderline superstars" have all been traded within one season. Some other good players traded include jason richardson, shawn marion, and rashard lewis. Seriously what a year this has been. Definately entertaining lol.

George stopped the trade, and the Mavericks could not be more fortunate!

EDIT: Loki, your below comment made me literally laugh out loud

"Early Bird rights," a provision earned by being in his second year and on his second contract with the Mavericks, made the move possible. <--the reason as stated on ESPN

At present, 68% of people voting on ESPN say they would rather have Devin Harris's future over Kidd's present (which does not even account for the fact that Harris at present is better), and 75%ish said the Nets were getting the better deal, so fuck the experts.
