5th Gen PRNG Help / Info - Latest: RNG Reporter 9.96.5, PPRNG 1.15.0

Is there a program or AR code that would let me see the games PIDRNG and give me access to save states? I really want to start entralink RNG.

Thanks!

There is if you use an Emulator, but there's no way to do that if you're on a game cart. Entralink abuse is still very possible without save states, just more time consuming. There's a guide for it on the first page of this thread. :)

ugh yeah I saw but I was just wondering if there are some shortcuts lol. I used to C-gear RNG when I had an AR but now the thought of hitting the delay, then not having an AR to check IVs then after a humongous amount of time when I do hit the delay, the nature is wrong.....just can't stomach that thought lol. It would take forever.

I have a question about Entralink abuse.

I hit my delay, but I didn't get the right IVs! My target frame was 26, so I had 5 pokemon in my party and I walked until my repel faded, then I interacted with the pokemon and got the wrong IVs. So I thought I hit the wrong seed, but when I typed the IVs into Seed to Time it said I hit my seed.

Does that mean my starting frame is 8, not 21? Or should I try walking the extra 28 steps?
What do you mean by "I hit my seed?" You hit the right delay but got the wrong frame? Well then use Method 5 (C-Gear Seed) in the main window to figure out what frame you hit.

Also why would you walk only 100 steps instead of 128? We use 128 for a reason. 128 guarantees that the IV Frame is advanced, 100 does not.

Sorry, I meant I hit my delay and time, but not my frame. And, yeah, I figured that out later on. Turns out not walking the extra 28 steps made the difference! I hit frame 21 :P

Because I thought the step counter saves your steps from your last save file, so I might've already walked the 28 steps. It's worked for me before, but this time it didn't :P

Thanks for replying!

I'm trying entralink RNG now and Im following the guide on page 1. I do all the steps my verification range is -2000/+6000 and +- 9 seconds. In Eontimer, my calibration is -195 and HL calibration is 296. (what the guide says).

So I use metalkids IV calculator (I don't have AR) to find the IVs and I'm not getting any matches even with the wide range...is there something I'm doing wrong? Ive tried many tiems and I get no IV matches.

My seed is on frame 36 but I havent been advancing the IV frame, I enter the game when the first timer goes to 0, keep C-gear on at the start, then enter the entralink and the end of the second timer. I go catch the poke right away (without advancing the IV frame) and check IVs. The IV box in the seed to time window is 1-50. But still no matches...I dont know whats wrong.

If anyone can help, much thanks!

I'm not sure how the program handles it when there's multiple possibilities. Your delay range might be too wide. Stick to -/+999 delays and -/+9 seconds, Min Frame=21, Max Frame=26 (assuming 5 or less Pokemon in your party).

How are you checking IVs? Rare Candies?
For Entralink RNGing I usually save outside Mistralton so I can use the Hidden Power guy in the Pokemon Center to find out the Pokemon's Hidden Power. Then I fly to Nimbasa and enter the battle institute (next to the Pokemon center) auto-level to Lv. 50 and check IVs. Between the Nature, Characteristic, Hidden Power Type and Lv. 10/Lv. 50 stats it should be easy to get exact/almost exact IVs via metalkid's calculator.

I enter the game when the first timer goes to 0,
Just caught this. What does that mean? You should be soft resetting when the first timer hits zero not entering the game.
If your buttons don't work properly you can start up the cartridge from the DS main menu when the first timer hits zero. Then get into the game before the second timer hits zero and wait with the message "*Your character* warped to the Entralink" on the screen then hit A to get rid of that message when the second timer hits zero.

I check using metalkids calculator with 4-5 rare candies (Record the stat at each level until I get the exact IVs, I just can't find a match :(

I enter the game from my dsi menu when the first timer hits 0. It's how I've been rnging on gen 4 as well and it works there...I've also done C-gear the same way on gen 5 and it works as well I have no clue what I'm doing wrong :(

You can get exact IVs from a Lv. 10 pokemon with only 4-5 rare candies? I don't know how that's possible but I assume that, since you've done c-gear RNGing before, you know how to check IVs properly.

I can't see anywhere else where you could be doing something wrong. It's probably some silly little oversight. Maybe someone else will catch it.

It's the level 37 banette lol.

Heres step by step what I do:

1) Find the seed in RNG reporter with Method 5 C-gear seed & use seed to time to generate the delay chart.

2) Use eon timer with calibration -195 (as what the first page guide told me to put) and delay is 3539 and seconds is 19. Check the C-gear and high link boxes. HL calibration is default 296

3) I start the timer at the same time I set the clock on my dsi. I enter the game from my dsi menu when the first timer hits 0.

4) I keep C-gear on, then once in the game, press the right part of the C-gear and click entralink. I wait at the "ff7cloud has entered the entralink!" message until my second timer hits 0.

5) I immediately catch the pokemon w/o advancing frames. (the seed to time has IV frame range 1-40).

6) I check IVs using metalkids calculator...the IVs dont show up in seed to time. Ive tried about 10 times, no luck

Idk, maybe try using the default calibration instead of -195. The timer is going to recalibrate when you update it after missing your seed the first time so there's really no point in using -195.

Also do you use use more than one DS to RNG? Make sure you have the right MAC Address.

OMFG. MAC ADDRESS. F*CK IM SO DUMB LOL. I RNG on gen 4 with my dsi and on gen 5 with my ds lite and since gen 4 doesn't need the mac address crap, the mac address on the reporter is for my ds lite. F*CK IM SO DUMB. thanks a lot for ur help lol

I'm trying to better understand how to RNG starters in Black/White. I'm solely aiming for IVs (in fact, for the purposes of speedrunning, I do NOT want shinies). I figured out my info before wiping the save file.

However, I'm a little confused from here on what to do. I've done some RNG before in DPPt, but I'm not sure on how to do it with starters. I've tried figuring the seed I want, plugging it into the ID/SID set, then starting the game when it says and advancing the seed by saying no whatever I need when Juniper asks about my name, but I'm not even getting the ID/SID, much less the IVs. Some advice, please?

(I don't care about the ID/SID, just the IVs of the Pokemon I get.)

IV Frame 1, gift Pokemon. It's just like RNGing anything else. Hit seed, hold keypresses if necessary, advance PID frame via saving etc. Saying no to Juniper is for hitting the ID/SID seed. That has nothing to do with the Pokemon.

Gift Pokemon? I always thought from what I was reading that they were considered Stationary. Maybe that's what I'm doing wrong. I'll try that out.

I tried it again using a Gift Pokemon seed. Plugged it in, got my time. Punched it in, did what I needed to for buttons and saying no, game gave me my ID which was a match. I'm not sure of the IVs yet, but it's a much more promising start. I was going for 30/31/30/31/31/31 and it appears that at least the SpD is 31, but the HP and ATK seem weak. So I still might not have hit it but at least this is going much better then before.

Edit: My IVs aren't totally confirmed, but confirmed enough that I only got 31 for SpD. HP and ATK was pure garbage (Max 3 for HP, Max 2 for ATK). So I did what I needed correctly for my ID, but didn't get the seed for the starter. Well, it's a start. Just need to play with it some more.

Edit 2: I think I got it this time. I chose to save directly in front of the box, then turn off the DS and reset the time. I haven't totally confirmed the IVs, but given what I see currently, I'm pretty sure I got it.

Tepig - #498 (Sassy)
Male (♂)
HP: 28 - 31
Att: 31
Def: 27 - 31
SpA: 27 - 31
SpD: 27 - 31
Speed: 27 - 31

So I think I understand manipulating starters for Black/White now. Thanks for your help. :)

So I'm starting to learn how to entralink abuse on Black version. I've figured out to hit my delay to an accuracy of about + or - 4. So I hit my seed on average every 8th try or so, which is nice.

Now, for the nature, I had some questions about the way it works. I know that PIDRNG (I think that's what it is called) frame advancement hasn't been properly determined, but I was wondering:

Say you have, like, 5 Pokemon in your entree forest. Some walk around randomly, while others simply turn on the spot and never move to a different space.

I guess my question is, do ALL Pokemon in the forest follow the mechanics of wandering NPCs?

I think they would all be considered Wandering NPCs, which means they would advance the PID frame. Even the ones that stay in their spot would count because they still turn. But, I'm not completely sure.

However, even if they weren't WNPCs, you still have no way of keeping track of the PIDRNG because the C-Gear will be on at the whole time, because you can't be in the Entralink without the C-Gear on.

I'm finding though that I'm taking about the same amount of time to talk to my pokemon each time I advance the frames, and I'm ALSO noticing that I get 4 or 5 natures more often than any others.

So my hypothesis was that, given that the time part makes sense (about 1 frame a second), maybe the NPCs are behaving in a predictable sort of pattern? I only have 5 in there right now, but they sure move a lot while I run around... so I dunno.

Yes, your hypothesis might be correct. Usually if you hit the same time and delay and you walk the same path, the NPCs move around in the same exact pattern and advance the frame the same each time. Or are you walking in a totally random path? If so, I guess walking the same path doesn't matter. Idk :P

So, if you want to try for a different nature than you're getting, try waiting a couple of seconds after you finish advancing your IV frame. You might have to get lucky (I got lucky with my first entralink abuse... got a decent nature on my 3rd try!). Good luck!

Yeah I've been taking random paths each time :P
The idea I'm gonna try later is basically the same thing u suggested. I'm gonna use my calculator's RNG to tell me how long to wait after running my steps. I picked a range of 1 to 8 seconds. My goal is basically to randomize the frame advancement as much as possible.

My other idea was to systemically wait 1 second at a time, and do like 15 trials at every second, but that seems like it would work better with only a couple NPCs in the forest.
