5th Generation Confirmed?

*Some changes to the type chart, particularly in Poison's favor. Maybe make it SE against Bug again? And possibly Water?
I don't. There's a balance there in that Poison is an excellent defensive typing, especially if it's coupled with Levitate. There's a reason why Ice is such a crappy defensive typing, why Ground has so many weaknesses to common attack types and why Steel and Dragon have very poor SE attack coverage.

The attack chart is fine, IMO. No need to fiddle with it.

I hope they make a 5th gen, just without the anime. Just for the games. Screw the animes. I hope they make a pokemon out of all the dinosaurs. Jynx really need an evo, she was always with mag and electri, from 1st to 2nd to 3rd, and on 4th, mag and ele got evo aand only jynx stand alone. dunsparce evo definitely. The onion duck thing, that need an evo.

You realize that there are over 700 known species of dinosaurs? That's not even counting the aquatic and flying reptiles that some people incorrectly consider dinosaurs.
And I assume the "onion duck thing" is Farfetch'd.

Woa! over 700 known dinosaurs??!!! I only know like 10-15. I want a T-rex, apatosaur, velociraptor, triceratop, and the thing that has a spiked armour and a spiked round hammer tail to be made into pokemons. That would be cool.

Here's some (really) wishful thinking: the next 600 stat total monster should be Dragon / Fighting.

Fantastic STABs allow for a neutral hit on every single type in the game...coupled with either Close Combat and Outrage and Dragon Dance/Swords Dance, it will be a true terror to face. But doubt it will happen...
Just to Piss everyone off they'd give it Base 110 Speed and 125 Attack or something.

On top of that, Dragon / Fighting has no 4x weak to take advantage of, so unless they give this thing the defensive stats of a Weavile, it's gonna piss off like Garchomp did.
I think this was discussed earlier in the thread, focusing on 'ability tutors' for Drought and Drizzle. I think the conclusion we arrived at was that it would be broken outside of Ubers.
EDIT: It's already practically broken in Ubers anyway...
I'd wager that Rain is only as common in Ubers as it is because the Pokemon using it is a Water type with 150 base SpA and a 150 power STAB attack that also gets pumped up by the Rain.

Aside from boosting Kyogre's already powerful Water attacks to god-like levels, I don't think there's any other point to the Rain in Ubers.

Granted, I don't play Ubers, but that's been my perspective from the few warstories I've read.
The onion duck thing, that need an evo.
It's a leek, not an onion.
and the thing that has a spiked armour and a spiked round hammer tail to be made into pokemons. That would be cool.
Ankylosaurus, the "fused" or "stiff" lizard.

About that Dragon/Fighting thing, it would have not-very-effective STAB against Ghost/Steel, which is bound to happen (maybe not necessarily in 5th Generation). Now, if it had Scrappy, well, that's something different altogether. Once they come up with said Ghost/Steel, Dragon + *insert type here* alone will never have at least a neutral hit on anything: Steel is the only thing that resists Dragon (obviously), and Steel is weak to Ground, Fire and Fighting. Fighting is neutralized by Ghost without Scrappy, Fire is neutralized with Flash Fire and Ground is neutralized by Levitate and Flying. It can get everything now, but not necessarily in the future.

Oh, and a Ghost/Steel with Flash Fire and Magnet Rise would be absolutely killer. Too bad that's too overpowered, and it doesn't make any sense, anyway!

Even if we had a Ghost/Steel, a Dragon/Fighting with BST 600 would be so ridiculously overpowered it wouldn't be even funny. Unless they give it something like 100/80/95/130/95/100 and no Nasty Plot/Calm Mind? Maybe.

True, since it has such great coverage anyway. I still like the defensive Ghost/Steel idea, or at least a Shuckle evolution. More HP, please! It ought to be difficult to get, though.

Following the pattern of 'Base 600 powerful Dragon pokemon with 2x weaknesses to Ice', the only combo they haven't touched on is Grass/Dragon. Not a fantastic typing, but a very interesting one.

Basically, the look of the pokemon isn't quite as important to me as a unique typing is. That's why I like Empoleon so much; he was a new Water combination, and one I find very useful. Ghost/Steel would be awesome, as would Ghost/Normal, the only pokemon that'd be immune to both its types.

Another thing that we desperately need are non-uber versions of uber pokemon; basically, they have the same abilites. Rain and Sun teams would suddenly become a LOT more viable. A Multi-type user pokemon would be a decent compromise between novelty (especially if gets Judgement somehow) and utility (no worries about Trick).

That's why I like Empoleon so much
taking this out of context for a signature.

But a Grass/Dragon would be really cool in my opinion, though I would like to to be more defensive instead of the previous Dragons which are always super offensive. Defensive Dragons (barring Latias) are not found.

This could be complemented with more pokemons having Cloud Nine....it's a shame than the only Standard pokemon able to disrupt sandstorm via ability is Golduck. Auto weather maybe is a good idea, but greatly depends on the pokemon than carrie it. Maybe as a second ability to dragonair??(all this years with the "weather changing" thing and still nothing)

I really hope for a Tauros/Miltank preevo. Tauros deserve Egg Moves u_u . Also Pinsir, Mr. Mime and Jinx need a evo...c'mon, Pinsir has been overshadowed by Heracross and Scizor too much time. Electabuzz and Magmar have them...why not the rest??

Of course, more Eeveelutions. IMHO Glaceon is a waste of a Eeveelution (Vaporeon already does is work...and better). And of course, alternatives to the eeveelutions, it's a shame than Leafeon doesn't evolve with Leaf Stone. Ah...almost forgot. Flare Blitz on Flareon :naughty:

Pachirisu NEEDS a evolution to be something else than a bad pikachu rip-off. Also, LOTS of pokemons need some kind of improvement, especially old jotho pokes like Stantler and Girafarig....damn, even Noctowl could have a more useful new evo. A decent Psyduck evo maybe?

What else?? I dont know, maybe the unexplored Dragon/Grass, Hariyama with slack off...and more pokes able to use earth power.

Sorry if this post is a bit spammy :p

just saying that glaceon and vaporeon have VERY different roles. vaporeon is a bulky water, glaceon is a monstrous special sweeper when played right. the metagame just isn't kind to glaceon.

Yeah some types should really be switched around. Poison is TERRIBLE offensively. Water is probably too good defensively. Ice is too bad defensively. A lot of people have said Poison should be super effective against water. I agree. Who cares if in real life what effect poisons have on water this is Pokemon it doesn't have to make perfect sense (even though this does make some). Poison has also been commonly suggested to be super effective on bugs. Why? Besides nostalgia of RBY I see no good reason. Would it really make Sludge Bomb or something worth using? Who Weezing use it now that it could hit Heracross harder than flamethrower or use flamethrower which has much much better coverage. Scizor, Heracross and Yanmega are the only bug types you'll see and Poison wouldn't effect the most common one, Scizor. Ice needs some help and this one's tricky. Resisting Dragon would help and work pretty well I think. Personally I would like to see it resist Steel, I feel Steel, now that it's getting more attacks and Pokemon is only going to be getting stronger with a new generation. However maybe thats just me being sick of Scizor Bullet Punching though my teams. What else would help Ice maybe Ground or Fighting? I wan't to say Rock but it has it's own problems as an attacking type. I really don't know.

Now attacks. We need more Pokemon to get Rapid Spin period. Otherwise we need a new attack with the same effect. Stealth Rock is too strong and is what I think, the main reason the metagame is so offensive. Now either change Stealth Rock to do edit: less damage or do my first point and give us lots of spinners, maybe even a Scrappy one. Next up is Rock. This is no reliable rock attack. Remember last gen when everyone would complain about Rock Slide missing too often. I remember people using Ancient Power to get around this. Stone Edge helps but only gives a stronger less reliable attack. How about a 100% accurate 90 bp physical rock attack with no flinch or other perks? Rock also needs a special attack. Ancientpower sucks. The only thing is their really aren't any Pokemon that could take advantage of it anyway. CAP made a Pokemon and attack to fix this, Nintendo should too.

People are saying Nintendo is running out of ideas for Pokemon designs. No I don't think so. They are however, going to run out of niches for pokemon unless they do one of two things:
1. Do what they did this generation. Create pokemon that fill the same role as previous ones but have higher stats, better movepools, better abilities or the trifecta of all of them. Look at Garchomp. They made a Flygon only with higher attack and 102 base speed to shit on all the 100 bases. Oh and here's Swords Dance and Yache Berry too.
2. They could take the much much better path and make pokemon of all the type combos they haven't done yet, or atleast a lot of them. Normal/Anything, Ghost/almost anything, Fire/water, fire/grass, FLYING, rock/dragon ect ect.

This is aking a lot of Nintendo. They aren't going through Suspect testing like we are. I don't even think the suspect test is a perfect method anyway. They don't really care much about competative pokemoning. Really what I expect is another Pikachu clone. Way too many legends, all of which are Pyschic type. Unecessary evolutions. And finally overpowered attacks that encourage X kills Y, Y trainer sends in Z.

One final note. This ties in with the last paragraph. The post that mentions the interview about changes in the show and if Ash will ever grow older and become a pokemon master. He brought up a very good point. Pokemon doesn't need to evolve since the fanbase is replaced by a younger generation constantly. We are the minority that traded for red exclusives on the bus ride to school and now that we are older, rather than move on to new hobbies, makes Pokemon fit to a older audience. An intelligant competative audience. Our Pokemon isn't the Pokemon that makes Nintendo billions.

I never got that Dragonair thing either. It doesn't even get Weather Ball.

Agreed. I see Pinsir getting Bug/Ground, I guess mostly because I always find pill bugs under rocks. More weaknesses, but STAB EQ. Heracross doesn't have that. I say Mr. Mime needs an evo just so he can stop looking so damn gay. But what would it be called, Mime Sr.?

Of course, more Eeveelutions. IMHO Glaceon is a waste of a Eeveelution (Vaporeon already does is work...and better). And of course, alternatives to the eeveelutions, it's a shame than Leafeon doesn't evolve with Leaf Stone. Ah...almost forgot. Flare Blitz on Flareon :naughty:
And why doesn't Umbreon evolve with a Moon Stone, and Espeon with a Sun Stone? I guess cause they couldn't in the past. I don't give a rat's ass about chronological compatibility though.

DP was good to the third gen, but yes, there is plenty of room for more. Ledian, Delibird, Magcargo for sure. I thought of Magcargo as sort of the compliment to Piloswine. It could have a big spiraly shell like this:

I assume you mean change SR to do less damage. doing more damage would just be obscene.

Anyways, I've said it before and I'll say it again. Rapid Spin should work even if the opponent is immune. Brick Break does; why doesn't Rapid Spin? It makes zero sense.

I don't remember if I've said this, but Sheddy's Wonder Guard needs to work right. Spikes and Toxic Spikes don't affect ground immunes. Shedinja is immune to ground. Ergo, Shedinja should be immune to both. Stealth Rock is still a problem, though. Additionally, Sheddy needs to get the one Bug move it really needs: U-turn. Now, Sheddy can avoid that poison, sandstorm, or Hail damage that kills it so easily. Admittedly, it makes revenge killing Ttar with Sheddy while Toxic Spikes are down less impressive, but Sheddy's gimmick doesn't work when it's KOed so easily.

I don't agree on the Spikes thing, as that would make Sheddy even stronger than he already is (althou he isn't that strong to begin with)

I would like U-turn on Sheddy thou, that would make it actually usable.

Also, 5th gen needs to seriously add some moves that are clearly missing from some of the mons. (Tail Grow Ampharos, Slack off Snorlax...)

And finally, I would like an auto-de-weather ability, which is basically Sand Stream/Snow Warning except it turns off the weather permanently.

You don't have permanet Hail/Sandstorm with Snow Warning/Sand Stream, so I think you want a kind of Cloud Nine, but that would actually just clean the weather and stop any other one of being summoned while the pokémon is at the field?

Ground and Dragon are splendid types offensively and aren't shit like Ice defensively.

But after looking at your suggestions, I see that you're just a Ice fanboy. Guess it can't be helped anymore.
Yes I am. The problem?

Did I mention an Ice-type vcersion of Stealth Rock? That would be so great!

There could also be new Form Of Spikes, The Burning Spikes would be an Equivalent to the Toxic Spikes we use in D/P ... And oh, An Ability That has the Special Equivalent to Intimidate, The One That Lowers Sp. Atk.
